We (a couple) stayed at Ornate View for three nights. After four weeks of travelling around Sri Lanka this was by far the best place we have stayed. We had the balcony room which had an incredible 180 view of the hillsides of Ella. It was definitely worth waking up at 6am to watch the sunrise over the hills. We really liked the authentic and funky waterfall bathroom, the room was well equipped and had everything you needed for a comfortable stay (the room also had excellent Wi-Fi). The hotel also sorted us a scooter to rent for the few days that we stayed there that was extremely handy. The hotel manager and his staff (Danny the cook and Piumith) made us feel completely at home. They were extremely helpful, friendly and gave us a lot of good tips about Ella and the surroundings. We had many great conversations late into the evening with the staff. The food was by far the best we have had out of all the places that we have stayed. Danny is an extremely creative cook, he made us everyday a different tasty breakfast and dinner on the four days that we stayed. Overall we had an amazing time there and we left the place feeling we had made great friends. Lastly I highly recommend anybody traveling to Ella to stay in this lovely Hotel.
