Very good and nice place…

Worst experience ever had in a local hotel. Food is a disaster. Either they didn’t know how to select food or have a very poor taste in selecting so. You can have a decent meal in a road side kade than this.
Uncomfortable rooms, poorly lit, didn’t even met the basic comforts. Kettle, tea/coffee facilities, no room service (can’t even think about the horrible food served), poorly assembled cot (with broken & with dust)
Came for two days but, had to end up in one night. Otherwise the kids will starve.
Definitely don’t recommend for a family with kids. Beautiful but no maintenance at all.

Long due review… woke up missing the waterfalls and the jungles. I stayed at Ella jungle resort Duong the first week of March. The location, the staff and food was amazing. Needs a bitta renovation but I’m guessing it’s really difficult to maintain the location. You have many activities in the resort itself such as waterfall treks, zip liners, fish feeding, fish spa in a waterfall, cookery demonstration and early morning yoga It’s the best place if you wanna get away from the concrete jungle. I cannot exactly remember the front office gents name now but he did a really good job explaining everything and keeping the guests entertained. The Naturalist Anura was so humble and Very helpful. Definitely recommend to anyone for two nights who wants to wind down and get away from the city.

This place is absolutely wonderful. I cannot recommend it enough. A beautiful Place with wonderful rooms and a great approach to the holiday experience. Everything about the place is so positive. The food was great and there is so much to do in the resort and surrounding area. We loved it here and our only regret is not staying a few more nights.

The perfect spot for a couple of days away from everything to chill and relax. We enjoyed the river and the beautiful surroundings.

It was a great experience. Nice room. Staff was very friendly. Had a great breakfast and dinner also. The guy who was accompany us to the jungle and water fall very supportive and friendly.

After arriving late at night, we were warmly welcomed by the friendly staff at the resort. For the duration of our stay they were incredibly attentive and helpful. This is truly one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. Highly recommended!

This is not a resort it’s a retreat! If this is what you what then it’s fantastic! Vegetarian with no alcohol and owed by a budist, stunning place but left after one night.

A True resort experience amidst jungle! I stayed with my wife for 2 nights at Ella Jungle Resort and it was an amazing experience altogether. It’s in the middle of jungle approx 3km away from road and our chalet was facing Kirindi oya river. The resort has number of activities to offer and therefore I recommend a stay of minimum 2 nights. The Warakara waterfall trek and Zip line were great. Our host Tharindu was very helpful and kind to offer a personal touch to our stay. He also arranged our breakfast on the river and it was a unique experience. The resort was very calm and quiet and they grow their own rice and some organic vegetables. It’s important to mention that the Resort is vegetarian and non-alcoholic which was mentioned to us prior to reservation. However the food was great and we never felt the absence of meat thanks to the Chef. I highly recommend Ella Jungle Resort in case you are planning for an eco-friendly holiday.

It was amazing. We had a lovely time specially our visit to the water falls with the guide Mr Abeysinghe was super.

Perfect place to unwind with nature! We had a unique, adventurous and a memorable stay here. The property is huge and is situated amidst green hills and has got beautiful views. Our adventure started with Jeep ride down the hill and then cable car to reach the resort. The cottage is big and well maintained. Nights are little scary as the rooms are mostly open with glass slides and curtains and anything can just fly in, but the mornings are beautiful and pleasant, as we wake up to the chirping of birds and sound of the river flowing right next to cottage. They have got a pretty good collection of fishes in the river. One of the highlights is the delicious vegetarian food they serve. Though we are not big fans of vegetarian food, we loved it. The hospitality of the staff is really good, you can see smiling faces all around greeting you and taking care of you all the time. They provide couple of activities in the resort like zip-line, guided water fall and village trek. We enjoyed the waterfall trek! clear water, secluded and only accessible to people staying in the resort. Overall, It's a good place for people who are looking for something close to nature and a break from the contemporary busy world!

We've stayed here for almost 3 nights.
It was an amazing experience. This trip to the jungle resort in ella was a birthday suprise to my wife, the room we checked into was decorated for her, with a happy birthday note and roses, again not stopping there they dimmed the lights at the dinner table and brought along a cake singing happy birthday, where the rest of the guest followed. My wifes birthday was mentioned only at the time of booking, so I didn not expect much, and since it was in the middle of the forest too. But the hotel staff went out of there way, just to make sure her birthday was celebrate well, even though they had a full house on the day of our arrival. This personal touch was amazing, we were touched. My wife was over the moon. Not stopping there on the last day on our way to the breakfast buffet, we were redirected to the river below where they had setup a breakfast table just for us on the river. They never stopped to amaze us.
We've enjoyed the cool breeze blowing through the paddy fields, breathed the fresh air, ziplined over the tall trees across the forest enjoying a breathe taking birds eye view of the 200 acre heaven, bathed from 3 hidden icy waterfalls in the resort, walked through the green paddy fields, had breakfast on the river, spent our evenings on tall tree houses, dined under the stars in a cold night near a bonfire.

Great place to relax and unwind… Hospitality at it's best! For nature lovers :)

It's a resort surrounded by a jungle and next to a river. Only access to the resort is about 3km off road drive (provided by resort) + less than 100m cable cart. It's a beautiful place to relax and you will get the chance to engage in some adventure sports such as mountain hiking, zip line etc. Challet s are located along the river with direct access to water. However challets are lack of some basic needs such as kettle, fan, safe, mini bar etc. There is no phone to contact front desk, so if you need anything, you have to go and find staff. Further this is a vegetarian resort and they don't provide any alcohol. As the hotel was waiting for another large group of people, they didn't provide us dinner till 9 pm.

We stayed just one night but was a great experience we went to the waterfall and the view worth the effort to reach the place. The staff was amazing since our arrival, if you visit Ella this resort is a great option to stay, the food was awesome as well.

We wanted to love it. Each year we backpack through India and/or various countries. We typically stay at hostels or moderately priced hotels, with one splurge. Ella Jungle Resort was that splurge at $275cad. The setting was a little too remote, accessible only by truck & cable car. We were unaware there was a $1500 ruppee charge for additional trips out of the hotel grounds. The food was not good. There was a large mouse in our room, that ate a hole through my friends luggage. They offered us a much smaller room with out door bathroom, no fan, as an alternative. We stayed in our room with 5 traps. The rodent was caught, and despite letting staff know, we still had to remove the trap ourselves. There is no phone to contact front desk, so if you need anything, you have to go and find staff. There is really not much to do here, so if you are looking for a very quiet break… its perfect. Our stay certainly did not meet our expectations for the price.

The service here is excellent. The camp site is also good. However, with the price they charge a bit too high. The safari only see one time is enough. The second time a bit boring.

Amazing place but not for the faint of heart. A challenging arrival. Vegetarian food and no alcohol. Love it or loathe it.

Ella Jungle Resort is a great place if you want to be totally disconnected from the outside world and feel like in the middle of nowhere. If you are someone who wants to get away from all the noise and spend some quality time, this is a place to be. A wonderful hideout for a romantic holiday. Ella Jungle Resort located about a 20 minute drive out of Ella town, then through a gate by the roadside where the jeep meets you and takes you on another 15-20 minute ride down into the jungle to the cable car. Then the cable car switches on and 100m below is the resort. The surrounding if full of green and you can experience the nest of nature. The natural pool is one of the best in the island and you have plenty of space to walk through. Nestled in a jungle with a charming setup. Living in a tree house listening to birds humming and flowing water is a beautiful experience. The rooms are magnificent, clean and comfortable. Rooms are beautifully designed overlooking the water. Total freedom to explore the Kirindi Oya and the surrounding nature and wild life. Many adventurous activities in the nearby jungle. The activities are good fun and the staff are friendly. The food is okay. They are very eco focused — vegetarian only, and alcohol free. Would recommend to anyone wanting to experience Sri Lankan natural beauty.

Beautiful resort with breathtaking views. It's completely vegetarian, we had a mostly traditional Sri Lankan dinner and a western style breakfast. There were peacocks and monkeys everywhere, they have a farm with cows and other animals as well. The hike to the natural pool is amazing and zip lining is included. There is no alcohol on site so bring your own if you want it. Wonderful staff and large clean rooms (much cleaner than most in the area). They have hot water but it's solar powered so I couldn't get any in the morning. Overall an amazing spot to take in, I would definitely stay there again.

Awesome! Experience. Food is average. No fans or air con but it's cool and you get to sleep to the sounds of the flowing river.

The best place to enjoy an uninspired, cold & meatless meal with just water on the side.

I stayed in this place for one night with my wife an kid, took a super deluxe room (en suite) which is in d edge of kirindi oya river. The room was awesome with the river view and the water flowing sound was giving a relax. This property is situated inside a jungle and was giving a different feeling. Actually the staffs were worse. They don't know how to satisfy their customers. There service was very very very poor. The day I stayed in the hotel there were no electricity until 7pm due to some problems and it was very fearing to stay without lights in the middle of a jungle. My room was about 300m far from the restaurant and we had to go by foot and it was really difficult with the kid. Really this place is not suitable for families. There were no networks in the room and the same time no phones in the room. We couldn't even contact the reception in an emergency. Safety is very poor. The food is no value for the money we pay. Good for a friends outing but still not value for that money we pay Feeling vain for the money paid… Location 5* View 5* Safety 2* Services 1* Food 1

An amazing in-jungle experience. Perfect if you want to explore the surrounding area, with beautiful waterfalls layered with ponds of wildlife. The only thing I'd improve is more open access to drinks.

This is an awesome place to stay, surrounded by forest and hills.

Best holiday for a while… This place has a lot to give you from adventure to inner peace. As their motto says its easy to check in but impossible to check out. Love the staff who were supportive and friendly. Looking forward to the day I can go back.

One of the Worst customer service I hv ever witnessed. Really hate it… Not worthy fr The price tag that hanging up in high. Anyway the guide is a great man. He showed us the beauty of the area. And He helped us to enjoy the day but apart frm that Food wise, Customer Care wise I really hate this place… And clearly I can say they dun maintained it often and cuz of that real beauty is hide inside that commune. The paradise that they showed up with snaps rnt real. Trust me… Far away from anything — pictures completely different to reality…

Its a heaven inside the forest. And the hospitality shown towards us was so great. All of the staff working there were multi working and tried their best to keep our smiles retained and they did succeed. Overall our stay was awesome and the treks were breathtaking.

Loved my time at Ella resort, was an calm oasis of beauty everwhere! loved every min and exploring the grounds and taking pictures constantly! staff are helpful and very hard working always around if you need anything. The gorgeous views to the views from the room and complete relaxation enviromnet, it was perfect! it's a bit of a trek to get down to resort, a 3km drive then a cable car takes you rest of way, but it gives to the whole experience I think! waterfalls, ziplining and delicious food, I want to go back again on my next visit! loved it! and highly recommend this resort to anyone wanting a highlight to their trip!

The only good thing about this resort is the stunning views. The food menu is really rather terrible with no options then an egg sandwich, the same noodle lunch every day and poor dinner. The service is terrible as well, 45 minutes to get a sandwich, this resort also doesn't serve any alcoholic beverages so if you want to contemplate stunning views with a bevi you are in the wrong place — water it is or tea! Not good value for money, you end up with less choice than in a homestay in town. The staff are untrained, there is no fridge on The premisses. Very disapointed.

Service is good but water is very bad. No locks for bath rooms even. Difficult to share toilet. No pricey because of that. No any mobile service for rooms. Anything If we need urgently have to come out to inform. Place are nice but need more facilities for customers.

“Poor foods "YOU MUST KNOW THIS IS VEGETARIAN RESORT"” Last year April we visited this resort for the 2nd time. I want to comment under few sections 1 : Access road It was very good in my 1st visit access road was very bad but now it is good. 2: staff You can find very friendly staff in this resort. They do there best 3: adventure activities you can find interesting adventure activities 4: Foods YOU MUST KNOW THIS IS VEGETARIAN RESORT they did not inform this condition in advance. We got to know about this once we came to the resort. At that time we were late because we have fully paid. But it was responsibility of hotel reservation staff to inform regarding this in advance. But they din't do it When I visit for the 1st time this resort had quality food. But now you can have very cheap foods. alcohol is prohibited in this resort. At night you can do noting other than just waiting. If you want good foods this is not the place for you.

Great place to get away from it all. Rooms are nice.
