One of the best eco friendly hotel.

Best hotel in Unawatuna. Very nice and spacious rooms. Food was awesome.

My wife mentioned in passing on Saturday morning that it was our 34th wedding anniversary. While we were out for the morning, hotel staff decorated our bed with flowers to congratulate us and when we went to the hotel restaurant for dinner, we discovered a beautifully set table in a garden setting, away from the main restaurant area. The jumbo prawns we selected from the market fresh seafood display were cooked to perfection, and they even presented us with a frosted chocolate anniversary cake at the end of our meal. They certainly went all out, despite the hotel being fully booked and occupied.

Beautiful, small hotel, friendly people but musty and moldy smell in the 3 rooms we used wasn't bearable. Some rooms had not even a window, some only small window shutters :fresher air or moskitos?

Great resort with nice pool near Unawatuna beach. Breakfast is good with lots of options.

This is really a true retreat. Hidden away from the hustle of the seaside streets but a 5 minute walk to the beach and bars. Excellent service from the start to end. Beautiful old building tucked into the jungle landscaping. We sampled the New Year food treats which were lovely. The rooms and grounds are really clean. Will definitely return.

We lived practically in the jungle. A lot of animals: birds, chipmunks, lizards and monkeys. Hotel with a high level of comfort and service. The staff is very friendly, smiling and helpful. Everyone is very sociable and willing to help in any matter. The staff was very friendly. Ready to come back again! A huge thank you to all the staff for a wonderful holiday!

Well located 2 minutes from the sea. Quiet clean and welcoming the Thambapanni also has an extra breakfast buffet.

An oasis of comfort amidst the heat and bustle! The pool area is a big plus. You can spend the day hiding from the scorching sun on the beach. No noise fertilizers and other equipment. And also delicious food and prevetlivyj staff.

Very nice, cozy hotel, good green environment, pool, friendly staff, enough good kitchen, good location. Ayuverdic massage made by Ranjan,   high level specialist, very responsible, helped my wife from the pain of shoulder.

Thambapanni Retreat is an amazing resort with a wonderful Dutch colonial theme. The ambience of the resort is comfortable, eco-friendly & relaxing. The resort is located not too far from Unawatuna beach, rather is at a walkable distance. The rooms irrespective of what you book are fabulous and loaded with amenities. The food at their restaurant is delicious and the breakfast buffet has a good spread. I actually relished the breakfast more than anything. :-) (the bacon, eggs, sausages etc). The staff is very friendly and courteous. The service was really good. Overall an amazing experience and worth staying at when you're in Sri Lanka & in the south coast.

The room was a little. Shower was open and mosquito can get in the room. Breakfast was OK.

Very cool. The owners are local. Lots of little things nice to the eye. A lot of services. Of all only one beggar, works in a restaurant. The grounds are cleaned several times a day. The rooms dirty, but do not evoke a sense of disgust. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was a standard but when settled was given a suite with no surcharge. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The area is very green, running monkeys and chipmunks. Buildings are almost invisible. The beach is a short walk away. + that not on 1 line is not so damp. In the evening you hear the surf.

It's great as long as you don't mind invading a local ecosystem of ants and cockroaches!

I want to say a huge thankyou to the most friendliest, caring and helpful staff I have every met in a hotel. They took great care of me. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, it is beautiful, clean and homely. Their sister hotel, is equally as good.
