This has been our most wonderful Booking. Com experience to date. My partner and I enjoyed every second of our 8 night stay here and HIGHLY recommend this hotel.
Location: quiet, relaxing, and stunning with private beach access. We were remote enough to avoid city traffic/noise but it was a quick tuk tuk journey into town if needed.
Rooms: the rooms were lovely and unique in their design, inspired by different elements (e. G. Water, air, fire, etc). The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom featured a luxurious jacuzzi style tub/shower, and the balcony had a beautiful sea view.
Food: We ate most of our meals here as the food was excellent, home cooking (Italian and Sri Lankan food options). We also enjoyed eating at the nearby restaurant called Simple (2 minute walk away).
Things to do: there are many beaches within walking distance to enjoy as well as a turtle conservation center up the road. We expressed interest in Udawalawa national park and whale watching. They organized a private safari for us including private transport to and from the park (3-4 hours away) from the hotel for $165 (total not per person)! We saw so many elephants up close as well as many other animals (eagles, crocodiles, water buffalo, etc). They also organized whale watching and we had a great time seeing several blue whales.

Amazing place, fully recommended!

Our stay was nothing short of amazing! Beautiful hotel within such close proximity to the beach yet far enough from the hustle and bustle of Hikkaduwa. The host Luca made us feel at home with such a warm welcome. I would recommend anyone visiting Hikkaduwa to stay here, you will enjoy the peace and quiet, waking up to the sound of the ocean and enjoying the beautiful sunset. Sad to be leaving but it won't be my last visit P. S. I would recommend the full body massage too.

March 2017 I travelled to solo to Sri Lanka where I was hoping to find relaxation and peacefulness for my 6 night stay (full board). As I landed into Colombo from Dubai I was met by my driver who transferred me to my hotel near Hikkaduwa (this was directly arranged with the hotel). The journey was 2 hours from the time I noted on my watch. I received a warm welcome from the owner (Luca) at the hotel who helped to my room along with my baggage. As I remembered from the bookin…g there were 5 rooms which were themed under the elements — I received the water room (Room 2). I was given a guide of the room (which was much bigger than the photos) and offered a drink. I slept soundly due to the sounds of the ocean waves and the very comfortable bed/pillows. When I woke I felt refreshed and headed down to the breakfast area, well, what a choice there were so many options to try. From Sri Lankan breakfast specials to eggs/breads and fresh juices. The Sri Lankan rice with coconut, fruit and honey was my favourite along with the cut fresh fruit and breakfast breads. I felt especially special as I am lactose intolerant and this was taken into consideration in the preparation of all of my meals throughout the week. A special mention to Sanka who made each meal special for me, all the food that I tasted throughout the week was extremely tasty. The Sri Lankan curry was my favourite.

Yes, I agree too! Glad that I was the first Sri Lankan to visit Serendip Italy. Great place, great view, great service, great food and friendly staff!
The place is very clean and nicely maintained too.
I highly recommend this place, there are so much of things that you can write about the hotel, it's better to see it with your own eyes! Thank you Luca, had a great time here!

A perfect place by the sea.

The staff is super nice and it's a lovely place to rest and enjoy this sunny island on. The hotel has beautiful architectural touch and is very clean and comfortable.

Best place to stay near Hikkaduwa in Sri Lanka.

If you don't want to be in the very touristy Hikkaduwa and crowded beach, this is the right place. But don't expect much action. We had a wonderful stay here and Luca is a great host. We wish him all the best!

You can't talk about Serendip Italy Boutique Hotel without mentioning Luca, the owner who made it such a wonderful experience for us. It is safe to say that guests are treated like family and it is an experience unlike any other. The hotel itself is magical with beautiful, spacious rooms and balconies with views of the ocean and towering palm trees. The staff at the hotel are the kindest I have ever experienced and the food was just as good! The massages were also top notch and completely indivualised. I actually don't have a single bad thing to say about this place. I HIGHLY recommend it to any traveler wanting to stay in the south coast of Sri Lanka. Thank you Luca for the amazing experience!
