Who is the chef of queens hotel? Your makeing very poor food its Waste of money plates and glasses is not cleaned. … Tasteless food🤮🤮🤮. Dont recommend this hotel. The staff is very rude and lacks friendliness😑

Small portion, taste is horrible, Service is ok. Not recommended. We baught sea food rice but there was no even one shrimp or cuttlifish just 4 pcs of fish.

Staff is super friendly and very helpful. Biggest advantage is the location. Less than minute to Temple of tooth. Can see the temple through room window too. Food is also good. Negative things are some bathroom amenities and car park access road.

Love the colonial style and like the food. Staff is very friendly and was helped me to get my wedding there nicely. Organising is perfect. Halls are good. Mostly love the view. Since the Dalada maligawa is infront of the hotel.

The hotel feels so cozy and the staff is super welcoming… always choose to stay here and will do in the future as well… very spacious rooms and love the old colonial feeling… the close proximity to the temple of Tooth Relic is a definite pro, making it an ideal place to stay…

Food at the take away is horrible. Found a worm in a seafood fried rice today. And when we complained, they were more defensive than accepting their fault. A hot butter mushroom we purchased a few feels back was undercooked.
For presumably one of the "best" hotels in kandy, their customer service and food is the worst.

I stayed some years ago. Loved the staff, the pool, the historical charm. Great location.

It's a historic building. Nice rooms. Food is so good and the room service was also much better.

If you’re looking for a place to;
1. Not honor your original reservation then attempt to charge you for the upgrade to your original reservation,
2. Not have shower curtains,
3. Not provide basic bottle openers for drinks that require such equipment,
3. Not to have Sheets with stains and bugs that fall from the roof on them, Then this is the place for you. However if you’re not a fan of extremely rude, dismissive, argumentative and non service orientated staff then, maybe not your 1st choice of preference. Over all the niceness stops at the facade. The rest is a dump. In my extensive travels this would have to be the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Pity, it has so much potential to be quirky fun place, if only the staff dropped their attitude and provided service.

Was in for dinner on 15th February. Insipid food! On top of it meat was not properly cooked. Tatty Hotel with health and safety issues. Staff is very friendly and attentive and trying their best to run the place. Thank you! It was sad to to see this iconic hotel with such grandeur and splendour is being ruined.

Gorgeous colonial building. Fabulous location on the lake and lovely staff.

Very old building upgraded to a very beautiful hotel. Situated in a crowdy area but inside is very calm and peaceful. Staff was very friendly. And food was superb. If you are in Kandy do not miss this place. Go there and experience the difference.

Room conditions are pretty good and the staff is friendly. Can’t beat the location because if you wish to stay in the heart of Kandy then this is the place. But needs improvement on food quality.

To call it a luxury hotel seems excessive to me.
The service is always efficient, however, compared to last year there has been a deterioration, mainly in the rooms. Bathrooms just redone with water leaks, a tent that does not avoid the exit of water during the shower, curtain to the broken window, the door that does not close, carpeting on the floor and lack of clothes hangers. Boiler with 2 bottles of water per day x a possible tea or coffee with the outlet x the current out of position. Beware of the type of socket (see photo).
Mini refrigerator, comfortable bed. The buffet x dinner offers foods not sufficiently heated.
As far as we are concerned we will not return to this hotel to which, in addition to the aforementioned efficient service, only the excellent central location in the city remains.

Ours was a large L shaped room with wooden floors. Part of it was the sleeping area and the rest my son and I used to play cricket :-). Bathroom fixtures were functional but felt 50 years old with pull chains and such. Nice. I took a walk around the hotel after midnight after everyone had retired. Wooden floors that creaked, dark panelled walls, eerie shadows — spooky, fantastic, the works. They have a very modern swimming pool with a lovely sun dappled courtyard garden next to it. The restaurant food and service wasn't fantastic, but hey there is a Pizza Hut next door if you're up to it. There must be other newer hotels around more modern and better maintained. Good location and pool very good. A bit pricey in the middle of the season for the services offered.

I wandered into the hotel following a visit to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth. It was like stepping back in time, in a nice way I would add. A lunch buffet was available for 1000SLR — soups, rolls, salads, curries, desserts… a good range of options to suit most tastebuds. No limit to what or how much you ate… really quite excellent. Of course the cost of drinks is higher than normal, but overall this did not detract from a very good lunch in a nice dining area with good service. You can of course just drink water if you wish. I would certainly return for a buffet lunch at the Queens Hotel if I am ever in Kandy again.

The hotel still maintains its prestigious classic atmosphere. The rooms are huge and are well maintained. The staff is also very friendly and provided an excellent service during our stay. Buffet does not have a large spread, but all the dishes were absolutely delicious. I'd like to suggest them to extend the spread of the salads a bit more so that it'll increase the quality of the buffet. It was absolutely worth the cost and this definitely is a place which I'd choose to revisit.

This hotel is well over 100 years old and still retains much of the old world charm. The rooms are huge with wooden flooring. I had a good view of Kandy lake and the main street from my room. The reception area is very smart and the staff helpful and friendly. The hotel has long passages and you may have to climb many stairs to get to your room so it will be wise for the elderly and physically challenged to occupy rooms on the first floor. The breakfast is good and the bufett great. On some nights there is live entertainment which you can enjoy while having your dinner. Youll also find a KFC, Pizza Hut and a supermarket within walking distance from the hotel. If you intend visiting the Temple of the tooth, please ensure that you are appropriately dressed. No short pants allowed. Females must cover legs and shoulders. The hotel is centrally situated and there are many shops all around. A good holiday destination.

Beautiful old building located in the middle of Kandy and directly on the lake. Genteel local, kept very clean!

Wow. The amazing part is, it is constructed in 1842 by British and the construction of interior and exterior remains the same now as well may be by few renovations. It's OK stay there and a very famous Budha temple is walkable in Kandy is near by this hotel only … pizza hut is also near by. This hotel gives only breakfast as complimentary and they have Chinese restaurant as well inside the hotel…

Very friendly staff. Food is really good. But I had a parking issue with security guard which annoyed me a lot. My feedback to the hotel management is to improve the quality of the security guards since their service is pathetic. But I appreciate your hotel staff service. Thank you.

One of the oldest hotels in Kandy situated right in front of the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. It can be classified as a 3 star hotel with the British colonial architecture. Prices are quite reasonable but it's time for a major renovation I suppose!

Hotel in the middle of the city. Otherwise not recommended. Cleanliness leaves to be desired, bed without slatted grate, shower absence mould with a drain consisting of a hole in the wall. Staff was very friendly however.

Very chic and exceptional hotel. Formerly luxury departing, now of course a little old and in the years come. But what makes the flair and charm! Great location in the middle of the busy city of Kandy. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Housekeeping top and always working. Breakfast buffet delicious and plentiful. Buffet dinner can also be booked in the evening.

Hotel ' 800 Stylisho, in a great central location in front of the lake at two steps from the temple of the tooth. Decent rooms but with implants now deteriorated. Modest kitchen.

Heritage hotel with good facilities. Infrastructure is old and need updating. Bathroom design with lots of levels poor. Service and food good.

Colonial style hotel with clean and nice looking rooms. Great facilities and the space by the pool is really isolated so no sound from the road. Staff is great and service fast, except for the desk. Most times I passed by there was only one poor guy running the show alone, often creating a queue. WHY THE LOW RATING? Rooms towards the road are a nightmare. They are extremely poorly isolated and the heavily trafficked road right outside makes sleeping impossible. Traffic starts to heat up around 5:30, so don't plan on sleeping any longer than that. Oh, and the Wi-Fi reaches absolutely nowhere. Basically only the lobby, living on the first floor right above the lobby and the reception made the Wi-Fi unusable. Then there's cleanliness as many others have mentioned. The beds, while fairly soft, had stained sheets. Not very nice. And there's some cobwebs hanging around lamps and so on. Room for improvement in other words.

The best hotel in Kandy, for my taste.

Hotel located in the historic centre of Kandy, in the Colonial style "So British"! As usual in Sri Lanka, the staff is very kind. The buffet is very copious, decorated with beer from the country "lions", sweet beer is very refreshing, which reminds us that we are in South India, and that even in January it is very hot!

Quaint hotel right in the middle of Kandy town. Had a very nice stay here. The breakfast and dinner buffet are good. The travel desk at the front hall helped organize all our day trips.

When you have a walk around Kandy… This Queens hotel is a milestone & it maximise the pride of Kandy town… And also a good place to get your refreshments, have a rest & for shopping.

Location is superb, building is amazing. But unfortunately definitely due to lazy management this hotel just lacks what it needs to meet the standard. Mattresses where old and worn out. Room has not been cleaned properly in a long time, fungus between tiles and bathtub has stains that won't go away. Toilet doesn't flush properly. Amenities in room very old, noisy AC for instance. Food was very standard, they try to make it good by presenting it nicer, but you can't cover up the taste like this. Rooms at the road side are noisy, for a hotel in this price category and has been here for so long, you would expect better sound insulation. Staff is friendly and helpful though. All in all I think the income of this complex ends up in the pockets of the owners, rather than improvement of the hotel.

Ok, how should I start… First, the location of the hotel is SUPER CONVENIENT if you are planning to explore Kandy Sri Lanka and visit Sri Dalada Maligawa. Secondly, the amazing staff. They are genuinely friendly to the point you feel like giving tips to each one of them. Lastly but not least, the food.! If you wish to enjoy the "Actual Sri Lankan Taste", just visit Queen's Hotel at least for the food. The Sri Lankan style dishes are spicy to the right level and they taste really good. The hotel is antique and if you are an antique lover, I highly recommend this hotel… Thank you for the lovely experience.

It's was rated one of the best hotels in Sri Lanka in early 80s and 90s. At present hotel has lost its Glory due to lack of attention in maintenance. Hotel is located in sight of the temple and close to all the other shopping complexes. Walking is the best way to explore the area. Usually crowded around the hotel due to visitors of the temple.

Colonial style hotel, a bit run down but all utilities work. Wi-Fi reception in rooms is very poor. They have a good dinner and breakfast layout. We have stayed here 3 times, but today morning we were woken up at 4am by religious chanting on loud speakers. I do not understand why it did not happen or we didn't notice it in previous two occasions. I value my sleep so decided next time will not stay here.

Nice place in the middle of Kandy and next to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth (which can be a bit noisy on the morning ; get a room on the inside, away from road and temple speakers). Convenient but Two days in Kandy is enough. Lovely staff.

Let me start with the positive, the location is perfect opposite to the temple. Less enjoyable is the noise if you have a room at the front that starts around 5 pm. The lobby and restaurant look great with a very historical feel (in a good way) and the breakfast we had was very good. The big downside are the rooms. They also have a very historical feel but now in a negative way! Our rooms were very damp (one even moldy) the bathrooms were not very clean and lots of stuff was in need of repairs (broken tiles, broken aircon unit, broken lights). So it will only do for a short overnight stay if you want easy access to the temple. You will have to get your reward from the friendly staff and historical atmosphere. If they would renovate the rooms keeping the historic details but making sure the basics work it would easily go up 2 starts!

Very poor quality service, specially for the locals. The lift was broken and they haven't bothered to put a notice. So me and my husband did stuck inside for few minutes and staff didn't even apologize. This is the worst hotel we've ever visited. Quality of food is very bad, no any flavors. Won't recommend this for anyone. Such a waste of money.

Being a 3 star It has all a tourist needs. Service, security, quietness and calmness is really make this place very cozy. Its just in front of sacred Dalada Maligawa in a walking distance. Food also really nice and the help from the Stuarts are pleasing. On negative bathrooms are not much enough spacious and not sealed from the room. Also as the wooden floor long term used the space between the floor and door is very large thus rooms also not seal from passage. Anyway its a good place to stay.

Historic Building but needs updating. Friendly staff but asked at two different occasions if the Chinese restaurant on the first floor was open and told yes. Only to go up and find it closed both times. Could walk into the kitchen and see it was very clean though. Cold beers at the pool bar were good and lunch buffet as well. Didn't stay as booked out…

Great location, friendly staff, helpful, nice room size. Miserable Wi-Fi in the room: great in the lobby, but not elsewhere. A fairly good bargain, close to the Temple of the Tooth. Helpful in organizing trips: my trip to the Elephant Orphanage, stopping back at a tea factory and a spice/auyervedic place took up close to 8 hours, 25 miles to the Elephant Orphanage + ended up costing only $40 for a full day's activity. The fellow at the desk initially offered me this at $50, but quickly caved. $40 was a great value. The next day I took the ride to the Sri Lanka Tea Museum and that was neat: $25 for a morning's activity and well worth it. To recap: great location, a little loud at times, breakfast is a freebee and is pretty good. Joe Bob sez: "Check it out! "

Need to do some serous repairs I guess. I stayed here for one night and the smell of the bathroom was dirty. And it started to rain inside to my room too when it rains outside. Management should focus on customer satisfaction and most of the images that are shown when we book the room online is bit different too.

Do not go to this hotel or first check your room before paying. Photos shown on booking web sites just concern a few rooms. It is expensive and do not full fill the standard. Spoke to some other customers and also saw their room:worse. It's a pity for such a nice and historical building. We were deceived. The management didn't do anything (adapted price to the room type or room change etc) altough we raised them politely the problem. Since they asked us to pay at arrival and we were confident, we even couldn't go to another hotel.

An old hotel (150 years) where the time has stopped. Already Hermann Hesse stayed overnight here in 1911. The colonial is a must for the nostalgic. The rooms are mostly inTeakholz and have no longer been renovated since ages. The Windows close not noise proof, because they are closed only on a brass clip from the last century. This the front of the hotel and lively street noise penetrates almost unimpeded into the room. The Temple of the tooth from its speakers from morning till night three times Buddhist chants are heard is located directly in front of the hotel. Be sure ask for a room on the quiet side of the pool. In the hotel there is a beautiful old bar which closes at 23:00. Who considered the hotel from a nostalgic or romantic angle, you will love this. The staff is very friendly and obliging.
For the english people:

The rooms are usually kept and refurbished inTeakholz emergency in ages. The noise does not close tightly, as they are closed only by a brass frame from the last century. As a result of the noise outside the hotel and lying busy highway pass almost of unhindered into the room. Right outside the hotel is the temple of the tooth, from its speakers from morning to evening three times a Buddhist chants are heard. Ask for a room on the quiet side of the pool.

Conveniently placed opposite the Temple of Tooth — very noisy with traffic, dark and spooky. Stuck in the past could do with some modernising without altering the looks. Dirty sheets and wobbly bed.
