Stayed here for 2 nights. Came here to celebrate my wife’s birthday. It was a pleasant experience. The rooms were spacious and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Ms. Dulmini from reception arranged our rooms without any delay. The food was really delicious but the varieties were limited. But for the priced we paid, it was reasonable. The view from the hotel was breathtaking! Attached some photos with this review. I’ll definitely pay a visit to this place again. Highly recommended. A must stay when in kandy!

Fabulous experience. Staff is friendly and treated us very well. We had an unfortunate incident due to heavy rain but Mr. Siraj Khan fixed it as soon as he could. Food was great! The staff, mr. Nissanka and mr. Fashan served us very well and they both became good friends of our son.

Everything about this hotel was fantastic. From the service, to the food, to the atmosphere, my friends and I were blown away! Such welcoming, smiling and friendly staff! I cant wait to go back some day. Special thanks to Fashan and Dinnshi for taking extra good care of us. I will never forget the experience.

This place is amazing and has a very warm and homely feels. Especially because of f&b staff. I’d like to mention about Fashan whose smiling face took away all our motion sickness. Food here is vey authentic and tasty. Good for vegetarians as well. They have separate Jaini spread.

Cinnamon Citadel was the best Hotel we stayed. Staff was very friendly. (Mr. Dhanushka Gunasekara) The buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner was delicious. Unforgettable experience and lovely people.

Friendly hotel BUT rooms smelt of damp bedding damp room depressing, only spent 2 nights had difficulty sleeping as near a main road! Food nice but Lukewarm in places chefs cooked hot dishes to order! Other than that staff friendly needs updating in the rooms.

Amazing property and location, just on the river bank. Great spread for dinners and breakfast. Was lucky enough to be here for the candy festivel you will love it if art and culture interests you. Pool is just 4ft so basically just for kids. Views are spectacular full of wildlife.

Beautiful place, interior and exterior. Place is situated away from all the traffic by the river, at certain times of the day the view is beautiful, food is delicious. Pizzas were spot on and the tea and coffee was good too, for the type of hotel it is the prices were reasonable too. Definitely visiting again.

This is a really busy hotel. A lot of people stay here and large groups come through so it can feel a bit crowded and impersonal. The food is very good, but the dining room does feel a bit like a canteen due to the volume of people. The rooms are comfortable and we had a lovely balcony overlooking the river, but we were quite disappointed to have 2 single beds pushed together. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Similar complaints for the cinnamon hotels we have stayed at as a family. Hotel staff are not as good as the last cinnamon hotel and also don’t really understand what we ask for and instead guess. They would rather move us along to deal with the next guest. The room has a strange colour scheme not matching the rest of the resort. Wi-Fi again is useless as network speeds are not quite as shocking as the last place with. 75 down and 1 up. Per room only allowed 3 devices which is really a ignorant rule as for a modern family where everyone has a phone and maybe another device they cannot be all connected. This time at this hotel when asking reception they said that they could not see any vacant rooms so could not issue us more codes. This is quite a bit of a problem for a luxury hotel. This cinnamon hotel at least doesn’t have ants in the bathroom.

Nice rooms and very good service. There are lots of options at the buffet for food. I recommend it. I have tried better food, not the best but it is better than other hotel in the area for sure. There is a big pool and a nice bar with good options. I highly recommend to stay here.

Great Hotel located on the bank of a river, great view, and good international cuisine.

Lovely place with friendly staff! We’ve stayed at this hotel many many times over and we’ve always been greeted warmly, with a delicious fresh juice of course! Rooms & bathrooms are clean and modestly furnished, with all your needs in mind. Meals here have always been delicious and there is always a verity to choose from. Wi-Fi doesn’t seem to work but wasn’t an issue for me. Beautifully maintained garden with a verity of bird life, always fascinated me. All in all, it’s a wonderful place to stay if you’re visiting Kandy.

We had a memorable stay there. I can honestly say it feels like we were staying at home. Food, Accommodation, The service were up to the mark specially their Sri Lankan food is mouth watering. I would highly recommend Cinnamon Citadel as 4 star hotel in Kandy.

Perfect Location on the riverside. Spacious room. Maintenance of the entire correct structure. Excellent buffet restaurant with international and local cuisine.

A good 4 star tourist with large room and terrace on the river.

The impossibility for those in wheelchairs to access the pool and the Café bar: The lift does not reach us and there are no slides for the 2 rampette of stairs…

Overall execellent although booked as part of a tour so difficult for me to comment on value for money. Very warm welcome by all the staff. Superb position for visiting the area. In the hotel grounds there is a small organic farm which is well worth a visit if nothing else but to see the butterflies. Monkeys and birds in the grounds are a real added bonus. We really enjoyed our stay.

The Hotel is on the beach. Breakfast was fantastic so was supper. From reception to the room the transit was good. The rooms cleaned early so that people can relax. You can see fish been haul from the sea. There is bird island and watching the dolphins.

Fabulous Stay — Highly Recommended! This is a beautiful property and offered us a comfortable stay. The room size is significant, and the rooms with river facing view provide a breathtaking view. The pool is very well maintained. The bar lounge near pool not only offers excellent food but has a great ambiance too. The buffet breakfast is quite lavish and offers a wide variety of cuisines. The staff is warm and welcoming. The garden area near the river is well maintained and has hammocks if you want to spend quiet time with yourself.

We stayed at the Hotel Cinnamon Citadel Facility Super, Food good and the service good overall a clean managed hotel. I would choose this hotel again.

This hotel is great! The rooms are nice looking and clean. The restaurant looks very modern and has good food. The views of the river is amazing and you’ll forget your close to a city! This hotel is 15mins away from the city centre.

Fantastic hotel and surroundings but we have just been served cooked chicken with the tongs that were taken from the pot of raw chicken! Other than Salmonella I wonder what other cross contamination there could be? I spoke to the the Executive Sous Chef and was told his team needed more training and was offered a coffee!

Really cool place. Especially liked musical band that played in the evening. Not every but some. Very beautiful view. Staff is really good. The food is also nice and good and a lot of choice. Some really cool tours can be organised by the hotel. Best one is river trip.

This is our third stay at Citadel and I highly recommend this hotel, as the food and hospitality of staff were superb this time too. We have stayed in many Cinnamon hotels and Citadel Kandy is the best. Talking about cleanliness, of the room and and toilet, … nothing to complain. Room service too was satisfactory. The only hitch was though there was a lovley looking piano, it was locked and the guests were not allowed to play. I suggest that it should be allowed, to be used by any music loving guests which will be a great attraction for the place, for most of the locals and foreigners love to listen to live piano music while relaxing during their stay in hotels.

Beautiful hotel, with amazing view to the river, plenty of green all around you. Food is great and staff are really nice. There is a gym in the hotel if you feel like working out :)

Stunning views from the room, pool, bar and restaurant over the picturesque river. Room decor is themed and provides a nice touch. Overall a comfy stay and we enjoyed a relaxing base from which to explore Kandy.

Hotel situated closer to the town. Staff very efficient and helpful. The buffet menu variety was thoughtful and delicious. Especially enjoyed the various vegetable based shooters and smoothies. Also loved the baked yoghurt. The hotel is a little older but had been maintained well. Rooms were cosy and bathrooms spacious.

I highly recommend the buffet — the food is always lovely and the staff are very welcoming. And the pool, with its beautiful view of the river, is a great place in Kandy to relax.
I recently hosted an event at Citadel and couldn't have been happier. The staff were very accommodating, supportive and friendly, and made sure that my guests and I had a wonderful time.

This is ok kind of hotel that some sites claim as 5 star and some as 4 star. The access to the hotel is poor. The rooms are far off from the reception area. The rooms smell bad as if they have been kept close for a long time. The AC remote was not working. Our room had a river view and it was ok. Service wise it is OK. Limited options for food. View from poolside and the restaurant is nice. Overall and OK experience but I would prefer another hotel at the same cost next time.

The Hotel is good with very good staff and lovely food BUT we have observed that the are very partial to guests by giving different treatment to us compared to other guests like not offering good facing rooms nor giving welcome drinks, towels and even fruit baskets in room which was there for others. So if you take this hotel make sure you demand your rights.

Excellent hotel when in Kandy! The breakfast offered various choices both international and local delicacies. My room was so spacious with packful of amenities and towels. The lake facing the hotel was spectacular with wild swans playing in the morning hours.

Cinnamon citadel is one of the best hotels I have visited. Rooms, service, buffet, ambience and the pool everything at once is awesome! Located in a wonderful environment in Kandy with fascinating mahaweli river adjacently, which you can see from the balcony of your room! I am visiting citadel next year as well. I went on my son's birthday there. They gave us an awesome complement chocolate fudge and nut cake as on our request freely, with my son's name on it, which they served to our table with candles and the knife, while the dinner buffet, which made his birthday a surprise and spectacular one. We love the managers both nithan and charith for their hospitality, kindness and promptly attention while our stay there, for all our necessities.

Stayed 1 night in a superior room and it needs a bit of refurbishment. Checking in, me and my wife were given a 2 twins and the family we were with also was given twin beds. However when requested they quickly changed the rooms to have a king size bed. Dinner at the restaurant was an experience as the staff were quite confused giving the same table to different parties. Food is not the best. It's right next to the Madawela river and there is a bit of wildlife you can see if you are into that.

Had a wonderful time… good value for money. Spacious room. 4ft pool but a very pretty view overlooking the Mahaweli river. Food is good as well and the staff is very friendly. Most of all, away from the city… peaceful and quiet.

Amazing place! Though you have to go little interior for the hotel. It's an awesome place. The staff is polite and caring. The food (banquet) is mouth watering. Particularly, the Indian food is delicious and overall I enjoyed my visit so much that I wanna go back!

Nice view. Good food and friendly, attentive staff. Only complaint is — the bathroom drain in our room was pushing the water back up which was kind of disgusting.

This is really good place to stay. Comfortable rooms, beautifull river side view. Breakfast is reach and tasty. The main bar area is very light, you will love to spend some hour there. Mojito and margarita are on 5+ delicious. Staff is helpfull and very friendly.

Breathtaking view when you walk through the hotel down to the pool and see the river beyond. A nature lovers paradise. The hotel itself is very good too and the food is excellent.

Very enjoyable stay, my only complaint is that we only had 2 nights there! The staff were lovely, the dining room which is upstairs is fantastic, eat on out side on the balcony if possible. I could not fault the food and Khan the head chef is great fun. Our room was good, with a small balcony with river and forest views.

This hotel faces a lovely river and forest. Lovely place for bird watching (feather kind). The food was lovely overseen by Mr Khan, a lovely helpful gentleman from India. Good and clean rooms. Only thing we did not like or understand was the dangerous glass dividers in the dining room.

The food was delicious and was also prepared for us what we order to Mr Khan the Chef Tomato soup, Dalmakhani, jerraaloo that all was prepared for us so we enjoyed the food. The staff was very friendly all was good but the hotel room was very old type of interiors, but the overall experience that KANDY IS ONLY for one day stay.

Nice and clean hotel facing the big river. Open swimming pool works till 10pm. The room was very big and the terrasse, too. The breakfast was big enough. Thanx to God the local music band stopped playing at lobby at 11pm.

The hotel view is amazing from the room, and the staff are really friendly and helpful. Its quite far from city center but this gives it the advantage of being so quite and lovely. Food is variant and good, and it has all what you need to enjoy the stay.

We live in Sri Lanka and are part of an ex-pat group who meet regularly at the Cinnamon Citadel for lunch. Yesterday, however the Hotel failed to live up to it's own standards. The staff were indifferent to complaint and the manager even had the audacity to deny anything was wrong, and blame and accuse us for complaining. We only wanted an apology for drinks that never arrived, food that arrived late and at varying intervals most of which was cold, a lack of cutlery (only 3 sets among 8 diners). We all left very upset, very disappointed and totally stunned by the complete lack of customer service. The Manager, whom several of us asked to speak to was unavailable. As a result we also refused to pay the service charge on the bill, and are reluctant ever to use the place again or recommend it to the many friends we know who wish to visit Sri Lanka.

Staff servises are very friendly but the hotel is too old not worth for the amount what they charged also I found two cocoroaches bugs inside the room.

I enjoyed my stay in thins hotel. Especially the night setting in the lobby with the live music.

The staff are really friendly and hotel location is great but the hotel building is old and they should change the it's stars level to 3 stars also the transportation is much expensive if it's provided by hotel.
