Chamalkas Rest Homestay

A really nice walk around the walls of this old Dutch fort. The restaurants inside were quite expensive (for Sri Lanka) but the sea and views were nice. The weather was stunning. What a relaxing day.

This is a wonder. After the recent extensive conservation efforts it has been injected with new life. Evening is the best time to visit. Or you should stay inside. However, one evening may not be enough to see and experience what you should. You should eat from various authentic restaurants. You should also take, let me guess, at least 25 photos so you can have nostalgic memories later on.

Interesting historical place a a tourist attraction spot, especially if you are interested in historical architectures and buildings. What was memorable for us is that we found a newly opened Chinese Beef Noodle soup restaurant near one of the main entrance of the fort. Sorry, do not know the address, may be if you ask around, local people might be of help. It was a change of taste and a "comfort" food if you wanted noodle soup. BTW the price is very reasonable.

Amazing place with massive colonial history behind it. You will feel like you are in colonial age. Excellent place to enjoy sea views.

Very popular old place for tourists.

The fort is quasi a city in the city, within the walls everything is very touristy and outside the normal city begins. It was very nice to stay there. I can only recommend to anyone, even if the prices are higher than outside. It is just next to the bus station.

Just to look good due to the historical background. It is also well preserved and you can also take nice photos.

The fortress was built 1663 by the Dutch.
The fortress and Old town of Galle are world Heritage sites.
