The hotel rooms were good, the staff was helpful. But the food was very unsatisfactory.
The Saturday night buffet was with minimum choises. Sunday lunch was no value for money. No buffet, and the food options were pathetic, the food portions were average and the food was watery.

I am not recommending this hotel to anybody. All the rooms are getting flooded with water when it is raining. The buffet is horrible. Foods are not tasty and soup is like a mixture of all the remains of the previous day. My kids had food poisoning even after having the breakfast. The varieties of the buffet is minimum of the minimum. Scenary from the rooms are nice.

Perfect stay! This is one of the best hotels we stayed in. It was a wonderful stay with an awesome room and the beach view. The staff were very friendly and their service was amazing.

We spent our 3rd wedding anniversary on 26th may. It was awesome. The team was superb and friendly. Service also good. And thank you very much for our anniversary cake which was suprised us. Nice view from the room.

I visited the hotel. It is a nice beach property and very close to the beach. I would say that one of the best beach properties. I had lunch there food and the service were good.

We lived with this beautiful view from our room at Shinagawa Beach Hotel, where we thoroughly enjoyed a relaxing 9-nights family vacation. The deluxe rooms are spacious, and ours was very comfortable for us three. The rooms are serviced twice a day, which was brilliant given all the sand we brought back from the beach each day. All the usual luxury amenities were available to us, and the TV offered a nice range of channels in decent quality, as well as a big selection of on-demand free-to-view movies, which came in handy. The food at their restaurant Salt, was brilliant. The buffet breakfast was a treat every morning, and an extensive menu offed an endless selection of lunches and dinners, which we enjoyed in our room/balcony as well as in the restaurant. We also had a beautiful pool-side al fresco dining experience on our last night, and they also cater for what smelt like a great BBQ on the beach! This is a boutique resort on a beautiful little stretch of coastline. The staff were very attentive, and even the locals were very helpful. There are a few things to do in the area, but we really just loved that beach… a short walk down it was a natural rock pool as well. Highly recommended, and we certainly look forward to returning soon.

We spent two weeks in this hotel. Beautiful sea view from all the rooms. Nice food and decent pool. Lovely beach. No other activities inside the hotel itself besides pool and beach. We were satisfied with the food selection for breakfast. Nice service, staff is ok.

Small hotel with 26 rooms, has a homely atmosphere. Staff are friendly and courteous. Rooms are comfortable. Food is good.

We spent the last few days of our honeymoon at this hotel. It was pure class. The hotel ticked all the boxes for a quiet relaxing time. The food was fantastic from the hearty breakfasts to the different buffets every night. I had a mutton curry one night that I still can't get out of my head. The staff were lovely, not imposing just genuinely friendly and caring and made our stay truly memorable. The beach is an untouched treasure. Be slightly cautious as the waves can be quite strong but you are in safe hands as there is a life guard school next to the hotel and you can see them carrying out training exercises some mornings which was enjoyable to watch. Sri Lanka really made an impact on us and this resort was the cherry on the icing! If I could give 10/10 I would!

Shinagawa beach is very nice beach. Lots of closer places to visit from Shingawa. Hotel where we stayed (Shingawa beach resort), rooms were of standard type, foods very costly. All the staffs were very nice and co-operative. Boat ride for the island was awesome. There are many service providers for the boat rides too.

From the point of arriving to the point of checking out the staff service was excellent. They were very warm and friendly. And prompt in their service. There was very small gestures of hospitality that really set them apart from other hotels like complimentary sweets they brought every now and then. Place was small and not very crowded. Perfect place for a relaxing weekend getaway. Rooms were spacious with all essential amnities. There was a bathtub in the bathroom which seemed to be a new addition. The room was set up to enjoy the beach view. The beach view from the balcony was amazing. Food was just amazing. Small quantities but great quality. There was breakfast buffet with a good spread. Decorations were very simple and effective. The pool was just facing the reception only separated by a glass door (indoor) so lacks privacy. Had a great experience overall.

Helps you collect nice memories in a calm environment by the see. Gives you great view of sunset in the evening.

One of the cleanest, best and most modern hotels on the West Coast. Quiet location at the southern end of Ahungalla beach. International audience, little eastern Europeans. The rooms are very modern and Western with free view from the bed to the bathroom. Open shower. All rooms have a nice balcony facing the sea. The hotel and bar are also very good European standard. Good breakfast buffet. The place doesn't offer much. Restaurants can be reached with the TukTuk for 200 lkr.

Quite and peaceful with a lovely view of the ocean. Friendly and helpful staff. This is a perfect place for a getaway. Close by there are enough activities, and places to visit if you want to.

Beautiful small hotel right on the beach. Our stay was all inclusive and the food was amazing not the usual all inclusive buffet but a different menu you can choose from every meal. Staff all friendly and attentive.

Very luxurious! Nice food, splendid view, especially at dusk and dawn. Friendly and helpful staff an well located to visit turtle farms, beaches, ruby mine, mask museum, boat safari, tsunami memorial and fancy architectural villa and gardens (lunuganga). Nice cocktails. And its part of the 'small luxury hotels' association, which says it all ;)

Relatively new place with all modern features placed right next to the beach.

We stayed at Shinagawa Beach for the last three nights of our Sri Lanka stay. It was an ideal place to chill-out. The hotel was clean and comfortable but most importantly, the staff and especially the F&G team went out of their way to make it a special time for us — changes to the regular menu, attention to detail in presentation, a birthday cake with a serenade from the waiters and a romantic dinner for two, on the beach. All in all an excellent stay. If it weren't for the problems checking out early on the final morning, this would have been an excellent stay. Stayed April 2016, traveled as a couple.

Really great hotel. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. It's small and right on a lovely beach. Very comfortable rooms with balconies looking out over the ocean and towards the sunset. A good restaurant. All round well worth a stay.

I had an absolutely relaxing time at the spa and strawberry mojitos. Worth a second visit.

Update — after a weekend stay I will validate my previous comments and upgrade to a 5 star rating. This is the perfect example of luxurious tranquility. I'LL BE BACK! :) I live in Sri Lanka, I came here for lunch for a Sunday drive out of colombo, this hotel is simply wonderful, well presented, great menu, and stunning beach. If your looking for a private location this will fulfil requirements. I plan to try it out for a few nights shortly so will update my review.

Just awesome! Very new, opened in Dec 2013 and very good. Beach is a virgine and no more hotels around in distance of 2 km in any directions. If some day in Lanka again then I would definitely stay at Shinagawa.
