A beautiful place, Home away from home. Mr Yohan and his team are doing a wonderful job. It is such a clean lovely place. The Spacious rooms were clean and so was the wash rooms, From the moment we stepped in we were welcomed with warm smiles and a refreshing juice. The food was super, The staff was so obliging and full of smiles at all times. The pool was nice and clean, lovely place to relax.
Hope to visit again. Keep up the good work Mr Yohan and your great team.

We spent our day with relax and comfortability and really enjoyed with beach area. Also the staff members treat us in a hospitable and friendly manner. Highly recommended for a day out or spend the vacation.

Great place to relax, delicious food, excellent service, spacious rooms and the view from the pool is breathtaking, this was my second stay at R degrees and the individual care the staff takes with regard to every guest is just excellent. In a nutshell
A wonderfully calm boutique hotel by the beach, with friendly service and fantastic food. An ideal choice for a chilled out / romantic break by the beach. Conveniently located an easy drive on the highway from Colombo. Also an ideal venue for a private function, if you wanted to book out the entire place (10 rooms for up to 35 people). We cannot recommend the place highly enough. We owed R Degrees a review from our first visit months ago, so have taken the time to do a detailed one this time — hope it does justice to the place! First impressions
The property has been fully redesigned and rebuilt tastefully and to a high spec by the US-based owner on what used to be an ancestral home. We stayed in a suite during both our visits (room 203) in October 2018 and April 2019. The room was huuuuge and well appointed, including a Bose sound system, Dialog satellite TV with 100+ channels, Jacuzzi bath, and private balcony overlooking the beach. Looks

Tranquil. Sounds of the ocean and birdsong. Yohan the manager and the staff are extremely professional and friendly. Yohan made sure we were looked after even though he was on leave the day we arrived. Extras
Accommodating chefs and staff. Our off-the-menu (not too demanding) meal requests were cheerfully met. We would recommend the local dishes — exceptionally tasty prawn curry, cashew curry are worth asking for.

Great place to relax and enjoy with your loved once. I stayed one night with my wife in a upstair room. Everything is as its best in the room. All the facilities are there and the staff is so friendly. Dinner is blend with all the taste and had a delicious one. Breakfast is the best one we had compaired to other hotels, coz it has various dishes and we both enjoyed the breakfast very much. Private beach is so beautiful and the pool area is soo relaxing. We spent at the pool area around 10pm and we didnt feel bored. Great looking place and wish R Degree gud luck.

Beautiful luxury boutique hotel with a relaxing view and peaceful surrounding. Food is incredibly good. Staff is very attentive, friendly and professional. Definitely the best place to spend a relaxing time.

I'm very disappointed! Based on other reviews one should think that this hotel is a perfect location to relax — unfortunately, this is NOT the case. Managers are very arrogant and unfriendly. They do not take constructive complaints seriously, but ignore them (and you afterwards as well). Moreover, it seems like they do not have staff under control. Two of their employees continuesly asked me whether I want to do day tours or other activities through them rather than the hotel (better price). They also said I shouldn't tell anyone — this made me feel very uncomfortable : (there were no other guests in the hotel the entire 3 days I was here (even though it's the start of the main season already). There were always at least 5 employees at a time, but no one was paying attention to me as a guest (always just sitting in a group and chatting).
One night I got sick from the food (which is also overpriced).
The location itself is relatively nice, the rest unfortunately NOT! : (

Let me start with the main reason for this low rating: I got a rather strong electric shock in the bathroom when I wanted to turn on the mirror light (whole case in metal) — my hand is actually still hurting a day after. The staff did not take this incident seriously, some employees were even laughing about it. Upon request to the GM, we were allowed to change the room, but only the next day (We were the only to guests in the hotel, so no reason for this delay). The GM promised us a room upgrade but we were just given the same room category (again, no other guests were in the hotel). The rooms are spacious and modern, some of the interiors' applications are already damaged, Windows and curtains are extremely dirty (see pictures). The staff is generally very friendly, but one can tell that none of them ever got a proper training. Some of them talked bad about the hotel in private discussions with us and offered us private tours and activities with them rather than the hotel. All of this is a sign of poor management to me. But of course not everything is bad. The pol area looks extremely nice (too bad it's not allowed to have a drink at the pool) and beach is astonishing. All in all, I have visited nicer hotels in Sri Lanka in this price category and would not come back here (mainly because of the service level).

A beautiful hotel with a nice beach view, quiet, peaceful and an ideal place to relax and spend holidays. I and my son stayed for three days, in a suite. The room was very spacious, comfortable, huge washroom with jacuzzi, etc. The staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the food and menus were so disappointing. We were on full board basis and for almost all the meals, only two menu options were available. Mostly the food was not so good, specially the fruits were spoiled. Had to make several requests but didn't get what we requested. The day we left the hotel, breakfast was a very poor buffet and that was the only buffet they had during our stay. Even that made us sick soon after having breakfast. This was a bad experience.

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights at R Degrees. The resort overlooks the white sandy beach at Ambalangoda. We loved that the resort is quite exclusive; there are only 10 rooms. Every room offers guests a view of the swimming pool and the beach and is equipped with modern amenities like free Wi-Fi, cable TV and a Bluetooth sound dock. The breakfast is exceptionally good; try and get a table outdoors facing the pool. The staff were extremely kind and helpful. Our flight arrived in the morning and they were kind enough to offer us an early check-in. There are plenty of activities in the vicinity such as the turtle sanctuary at Kosgoda and Lunuganga Gardens at Bentota, so this is a great base from which to explore these places. We would definitely stay here again if we were visting this part of the country.

Hesitant to stay due to lack of reviews but it turned out to be a very positive surprise. Directly at a beautiful beach, great pool and layout. Very quiet, state of the art interior, very clean and attentive staff.
