Mihintale is a sacred site located in the Anuradhapura District of the North-Central Province in Sri Lanka. It is known as the birthplace of Buddhism in Sri Lanka, as it is the location where King Devanampiya Tissa was converted to Buddhism by Mahinda, the son of the Indian Emperor Ashoka, in the 3rd century BC. The area is dotted with ancient ruins, including the Mihintale Stupa, which is considered to be one of the oldest and most important Buddhist monuments in Sri Lanka. The site also features a grand staircase with 1,840 steps leading to the summit, where visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.
