Valentin Star Menorca - Adults Only

After seeing some of the negative reviews about returning guests not enthralled with the changes at valentin star and as returning guests ourselves we were apprehensive as to whether we would get the same experience as our previous stay. We need not of worried. From arrival we were greeted warmly by reception staff everything explained clearly we were allocated a room over the Marina which is what we had requested. The whole hotel was spotlessly clean the room was immaculate and pleased the room still had its traditional furnishings rather than like some hotels where they are too contemporary and clinical. All the staff are amazing and friendly cannot fault any of them. Onto the buffet restaurant yes some changes have been made with where half board guests can sit we didn't have any issues with this for evening meals we paid 5 euros to sit outside on the terrace to enhance our evening meal and we were happy to pay this. Food at breakfast and evening mealtimes were of excellent quality so much choice something to suit everyone we didn't experience any lukewarm meals as some comments have said. Restaurant managers waiters grill staff all friendly and work so hard to keep everything stocked and tables tidy also compliments to the chefs who were occasionally visible at mealtimes.

My wife and I stayed last year and enjoyed our holiday so much that we booked the same room again for 2025. We had another enjoyable week, the food was excellent, good variety and a help yourself buffet. As last year the staff were truly exceptional, bearing in mind it was the end of what must have been a long, hit and Turing summer. We felt welcome, at home and relaxed. The staff were all professional and yet friendly, lots of smiles and nothing was too much trouble. We had a leaky shower door which was fixed within 2 hours of reporting it. The hotel is immaculately clean and it seems that the pool area is cleaned daily.
There really wasn't a downside but a couple of things are worthy of mention. This year we were not allowed to take our dressing robes poolside which was a shame (what is the reason for this? ) and the Bali beds and some tables in the restaurant were reserved for premium guests. This was different to last year and made us feel slightly second class.
The pool remained unheated and only a few hardy souls used it. The problem with smoking on the balconies was also an issue again, several times we had to close the sliding door to the balcony. Again I recommend the hotel to be non-smoking throughout as it was clear that the vast majority of guests were non-smokers.
On the plus side the evening entertainment was varied and enjoyable, perhaps could have started a little earlier than 9.15pm?

Hi All. We Stayed at this amazing hotel last week in September. Totally thrilled to have experienced this fantastic place. From the word go it starts. Greeted off the coach on arrival, we were offered bottled water & linen face cloth to freshen up while checking in. Our cases where taken to our room. The room was amazing & serviced everyday. We were half board, the food was varied & exceptional every sitting. The pool & lounges were fantastic.
The hotel attracts alot of repeat Guests each year apparently who all just wanted the same thing — A nice relaxing happy holiday. The staff bend over backwards and so polite & helpful, nothing was too much trouble.
Thank you Valentin for a great holiday and making us so so welcome.

We recently stayed at the Valentin star for nine days. The hotel was amazing. The pool was one of the best hotel pool I have been in. The rooms were spotless and cleaned daily. The food in the restaurant was truly five star. Entertainment in the evening and by the pool was exceptional. I would like to mention some members of staff. First of all Ali who cooked on the grill was n the dinning room. His fresh made Italian cheese, ham omelettes were so good and his steaks were cooked to perfection. Silvia on Recepcion could not do enough to help us and always had a smile on her face. Lidia who organised the volleyball in the pool in the morning and afternoon was simply fantastic. Her enthusiasm and drive were exceptional and rubbed of on all of us. Lastly Vicente the restaurant manager, a true gentleman who took such pride in his customers have a pleasant dining experience. Well done all of you and all the other members of staff. So here we go on the minus side. My wife and myself always like to return to our room around five o’clock and have a couple of drinks before getting ready to go out for our evening meal. The hotel assured us there would be a fridge with ice compartment. When we arrived we popped out and I got six beers and my wife a bottle of wine. When we came back at five to have a drink the drinks were warm and not chilled. We reported the next day and got another fridge, which was also a warm fridge. So every day.

If you are thinking of booking this hotel for a holiday, take my advice and do it. This hotel was incredible. From the moment we arrived we were greeted by amazing staff, we were given water and cold flannels, we had champagne delivered to our room as well as a beautiful plate of treats.
The hotel was so clean, the staff were just amazing and couldn't do enough for you. The food was just incredible, the fish they cooked was so lovely and meaty, it was the best fish I had ever eaten.
During the day the staff would bring out treats to all the guests around the pool like glasses of sangria, it was just a lovely treat.
The entertainment was also so good. I loved the abba tribute. I did not want to leave when my holiday was over and will be booking to go back next year. Thank you to all the staff in the hotel for making my holiday so amazing.

Having just returned from a lovely stay.
Firstly the positive experience.
We contacted the hotel direct to book an Accessible room and was allocated room 120 on arrival. Spacious for the wheelchair and nice private patio area, if we did not want to go to the pool.
Reception staff were very helpful and ensured we were informed of the hotels availability for wheelchair access. They also will book taxis and as we had an 9am departure, ensured we had time for breakfast and even offered to have a breakfast pre made if required.
The hotel is spacious and ramps everywhere to making it easy to get around. The marina is only a 2 minute walk away, so great for food and drinks.
We booked half Board and can honestly say the food was first class. Great selection at both breakfast and evening to satisfy every taste bud. If ordering a bottle of wine, they will save the remains for another night if you do not finish the bottle.
Plenty of sun beds to choose from.
Staff. All friendly and very helpful. A credit to the hotel.
Improvements.
Water fountains to refill water bottles would benefit rehydration during the day.
A pool chair lift for less mobile customers would be great to access the pool. The hotel offer accessible rooms, so this would be a great addition.
Room 120, the shower area had a grab rail in the wrong place. I do think that this should be assessed by a a wheelchair user.
In my opinion, This is a great hotel with only a few tweaks to improve on.

Location:
Great, right on the marina, close to all the bars, restaurants, shops, supermarkets etc.
Front of House:
The lobby area is calm, relaxing and had a lovely smell of fresh flowers everyday. The reception staff were very helpful. Particularly when my wife wanted to purchase some of the jewelry on display from a local artist.
Rooms:
The size of our room was reasonable (304), and about what I would expect for a 4 star hotel. I did view an upgrade room which was marginally better (walk in shower, split level with a sofa), but decided the additional cost did not merit the upgrade. The decor in our room, especially the bathroom could do with some updating. But everything worked e. G. Good shower, strong aircon and the fridge was great. The bed was comfy and I slept well. I was a bit disappointed that at this level the hotel charges for the use of the safe, I think this should be free and included for the price paid.
Tip: If you want shade on the balcony during the day, ask for a ground floor room, or one of the rooms on the pool side bar, as these have shade in the afternoon. If you like intense heat all day then go for the upper floor on the reception side of the hotel.
Recommendation:
Sun shades over the balconies on top floor rooms would be a great addition and give guests the choice.
Housekeeping:
General areas of the hotel were clean and tidy.

Our 3rd visit to Valentin Star. We were half board for 10 days. As always such a relaxing holiday. The hotel is spotless. There is plenty of choices at breakfast and evening meal. Staff work extremely hard to ensure you have a great experience. The rooms are cleaned daily. The bed is very comfortable. Special shout out to Lidia for the pool activities, and the resturant staff who are always attentive to the guests. They have introduced AI this year, however it made no difference to the quality of service we received. I highly recommend this hotel and we will be returning next year. Thank you Valentin Star.

The hotel itself was very quiet, the rooms were always spotless, and most of the staff were available and willing to help. I especially loved the staff working during breakfast and dinner – they were very attentive and genuinely seemed to enjoy what they were doing, which made a big difference in the experience.

However, there were several downsides that really affected our stay:
1. Men are required to wear trousers for the dinner buffet – cotton shorts are not accepted. This rule is written nowhere! We had to rush out and buy a pair of trousers when we could have easily brought some with us.
2. To use the safe, we were asked to pay a daily fee of €10 plus a deposit of €7 (if I’m not mistaken) just to get the key. I’ve never had to pay extra to use a safe in a hotel before – it makes no sense!
3. We were only given two pool towels for the entire stay. If we wanted to change them, it was €1 per towel, per exchange, and this fee was non-refundable.
4. Breakfast only started at 8 am. To visit the more popular beaches, you really need to leave around 7 am, so we could hardly ever enjoy it. When we asked for a takeaway breakfast, we got a sandwich, a terrible orange juice (clearly the cheapest brand available), and a packaged cupcake.

On top of that, the overall look of the rooms, buffet area and reception felt quite outdated.

Overall, the hotel was calm and clean, but some of these policies and the outdated facilities made it feel overpriced and not very guest-friendly.

Great adults only hotel, very clean, great selection of food. No problem getting a sunbed of table in the restaurant. Lots of things to do around the pool and entertainment every night. Fabulous location on the harbour, central to many shops, bars and restaurants. Beach 10mins walk away. Local bus 10 mins walk. Would stay here again. 2 things to be aware of, that we weren't, men have to wear long trousers at the evening meal and they charge for the safe. Menorca is a beautiful island and this hotel tops it off. We would recommend, and stay here.

Stayed as a couple in June 25 on a b&b basis. Very good hotel but with perhaps a few improvements that potentially could be made.
The breakfasts were great with loads of choice. Cooked breakfast where there were even two types of bacon and 5 min or 8 min boiled eggs as well as scrambled, fried. Plus cereals, fruit, continental breakfast, pastries, even sparkling wine. (to early for us :). Tea or coffee was brought to your table by the restaurant staff which is a nice touch. Cater well for gluten intolerant.
Loved the large swimming pool and there were some activities during the day such as volleyball and aqua aerobics and non pool games. The pool entertainment staff were good fun. Even going to the pool late we got sun beds.
Evening entertainment — we only saw a bit of this but the ABBA tribute was good.
Room — Our room was good and a nice size, fairly comfortable beds but just a few small things here to mention. As other people have reviewed the bathroom had a shower over the bath. An option for the hotel might be to have some rooms with a walk in shower given the age demographic of the majority of guests. Also with the shower there was shampoo and hand gel (same as by sink) rather than shower gel so you may wish to take your own. The pillows were hard or to firm with hardly any give when you laid your head on them. (Although my wife was okay with them) Fortunately there was a spare softer pillow in the wardrobe.

This is a lovely hotel, spotlessly clean and the staff are very friendly. Our room was quite big and more than adequate. I would recommend paying extra for a pool view. You have slippers, bathrobes and toilettries and tea, coffee and biscuits.
We were surprised and delighted to have sunbeds on our balcony and it appeared that only 3 rooms have this extra. (Room 360).
The food is very good with so much choice. Everything you can think of and good quality. Pity you have to pay for water with your evening meal though.
Our only major criticism would be in relation to the premium package (all inclusive). We were half board and only 'premium' guests are allowed to use certain areas — red ropes put up around some seating area outside the bar, reserved tables in dining room etc. Makes others feel like second class citizens. It wouldn't stop me from coming back though as we didn't sit in hotel in the evening, went out to the local pub. Not a lot outside of the hotel but plenty of restaurants and a few bars. Nothing much in the way of shops, mainly supermarkets. Cuitadella is worth a ride on the bus. Lovely town.
The hotel is a bit of an 'oldies' hotel but we are in our 60's but felt a bit younger than most!
Disappointed there weren't sunbeds on the beach but the water is beautiful, and the sand is white and not gravelly.

We stayed here in 2024 half board and loved it, booked again for 2025 half board. Upon arrival we were told there is a new Premium VIP all inclusive upgrade available, cost over 900 Euros! We don't eat lunch often and would not spend that much at the bar so we declined. Very disappointed to realise the window tables in the restaurant were all reserved for Premier guests as were the tables on front row for the evening entertainment the canopy dbl beds at the pool and the jacuzzi too. This made us feel like second class! The hotel is dated but beautiful and clean. The staff work extremely hard and are all lovely. The pool is also great. The food is a great and varied selection for every meal. Good entertainment too. It's sad that the new Premium status that we declined due to the cost left us feeling rather deflated and we didn't have the same wonderful holiday that we did the year before. We would still recommend the Valentin Star but perhaps choose all inclusive if you can afford it.

Just coming to the end of our 3rd holiday at the Valentin Star. Once again superb choice and quality of food with good selection of gluten free. We stayed in a standard room which was spacious and comfortable, immaculately clean with dressing gown and slippers provided. The evening entertainment was good most nights with the highlight being the group singing Motown and Drifters songs. There are only 2 floor levels so the sun shines on all the poolside all the time, there is no problem getting sun beds no matter what time you come down, it’s very quiet with no noisy children. We will book again.

What a great hotel central to the town, greeted by staff with towel and water to refresh after you journey. The rooms are great, food excellent, bar well stocked, staff are very friendly. All rooms have balconies or outside seating areas.
However all balconies are visible for everyone so if you want privacy you won.
't get it. Pool is great not overly deep, daily activities for anyone. Small canapés offered during the day as well as a glass of bubbles, we were half board so no access to jacuzzi but the pool was fine. Already planning to come back next year.

Wow. What a beautiful hotel. Every member of staff were so polite, hotel is kept spotless, food very good, entertainment good, nice touch of glass of cava around the pool and nibbles most days. Easy walk to the lighthouse where you can sit and have lunch.
A complimentary bottle of fizz left in our room for my birthday which was very much appreciated.
Only fault I can say was the room was very dark, didn't get any sunlight at all and was one of the worst views we've ever had, other than that we had a fabulous time and would come back if we had a better room.

Lovely peaceful hotel, perfect for our 5 day break. The food at the hotel is lovely and it's in a great location. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The rooms are spacious and are kept very clean and the pool area is great too. Highly recommended.
