Son Gener Hotel Spa

Spent 8 days in Mallorca and the most magical of them all was at Son Gener. I would come back to this island in a heartbeat, simply to stay at this hotel again.

We have just had an idyllic 4 days at Son Gener. It is just beautiful, quiet, gorgeous pools, stunning hotel and gardens, beautiful food, really lovey rooms, the friendliest staff, its just everything you could want from a rural Hotel. Arta nearby has a fantastic Market on the Tuesday, a couple of lovely restaurants and if you are willing to walk on a dirt track for 20 minutes down you can find a beautiful unspoilt beach not far away in the car. We had our two girls 17 and 13 with us and they loved the Hotel and the area, but it is quiet.

We are a very well travelled couple in our mid 30s and were on a kid free vacation. Son Gener absolutely blew our minds. It’s a truly magical place and we can’t stop talking about when we will be back. The grounds and pools are stunning, the staff goes above and beyond to make you feel at home. Some guests have been coming back for over 20 years. I am so confused why this place was not listed on the best hotels in Mallorca lists I read because it deserves to be (although maybe then it would become too popular) we stayed in the Rosa suite which has to be the nicest on the property, the rooms all seem to be massive though. The breakfast spread is to die for and dinner was nice although we would have preferred a more a La cart option. It’s very close to towns you can visit though for alternate dinner options. Don’t hesitate, just book this place!

This hotel was our favorite while in Mallorca! Peaceful, quiet, comfortable, lots of flowers and beautifully designed spaces for dining and relaxing. Our room was in the main house, and it and the bathroom were large and spacious — fantastic water pressure in the shower — and lots of thoughtful details in the rooms. If we are able to return in the future, I might consider booking a room in the other building, as the views and pools were exquisite. The breakfast was hearty, offering both typical fruit, meat, cereals, etc. But also freshly cooked egg options and baked goods. We also enjoyed dinner one night and the food and wine list were wonderful. Overall, the staff were kind and helpful, we would highly recommend!

We stayed at Son Gener for a week with our little family (children aged 2 years and 9 months). If we had put together our dream vacation it would look exactly like our time at Son Gener. The architecture and interior are extremely tasteful highlighting the characteristics of the building as well as materials from the island. We loved the minimalist and yet cosy atmosphere in our room, the lounge areas, the spa and the restaurant. The grounds are much more spacious in reality than they seem on the pictures with beautiful old trees and plants that are very well maintained. With the kids we enjoyed the indoor pool a lot and took many walks around the garden. The outdoor pools are beautiful too but given that we stayed here in October we did not use them as much. We ended up having dinner at the restaurant every single night because the food was so good and offered a lot of variety. Also, the four course menu is fairly priced if you consider the quality of the food. The wine selection is excellent with many mallorcan options. Breakfast was a 5/5 as well with lots of fresh fruit and excellent choices overall. The staff were very friendly and helpful and even made our son an early dinner. We loved Son Gener and hope to return to this magical place!

After a fraught flight from London, we arrived at 4pm on Saturday, just wanting a cup of tea. This was brought to us on our terrace in crisp white china. And we began to breathe out. By Sunday, we had swapped the tea for glasses of Rose from their excellent wine menu and felt like we never wanted to leave. Had it not been for a hotel booked in Palma in 7 days, perhaps we wouldn’t. With beautiful scenery, amazing pools, delicious food sourced from the farm, and kind hosts, Son Gener is gorgeous, magical, and irresistible. We loved every minute.

Peaceful, restful and calm are how I would sum up this place. If you need a slower pace, time to switch off and enjoy a beautiful view, this might just be your place. Yes it feels slightly remote, but that was just what I needed and simply perfect for some R&R. The decor is calm, the rooms beautifully serene and totally lovely. This does feel like a home away from home with all the staff being so lovely, friendly and going the extra mile to be helpful. This is the perfect location to devour a novel and explore the local area. The food is very tasty, generous and feels traditionally home cooked. Not for you if you want to loose a few pounds or focus on a detox. The spa facilities are nice. All three pools are very easy on the eye but just lacking in length, with none having enough space to bang out a few lengths to feel you have worked off some of the rich food. A drive 20 minute to the sea is probably whats required for that and there are some stunning coves near by. The yoga studio is calm with beautiful views. The massage treatments possibly need some refinement. The local town of Arta is an easy 10 minutes drive, full of restaurants and Mallorcan charm. I would most definitely come back here and be recommending to friends and family.

Echoing lots of the other glowing reviews — Finca Son Gener was a true oasis on Mallorca. By far our best experience across 5 hotels on the island (several of which also came at a higher price point! ).
Gorgeous sprawling grounds, beautiful (quiet) pools, lots of nooks and crannies to relax and soak in the view / atmosphere. Room was pristine and well appointed. Lovely set menu dinners on the terrace each night. Breakfast was fresh, plentiful, and always with delicious home made treats. We never did manage to leave the hotel in the 2 days we were there!
Note this is a 'deluxe homestay' type experience — don't come expecting a 'standard' 5* hotel (service by the pool, fully functioning reception / concierge, spa therapist on premise, extensive restaurant menu etc). But if you want to feel at home in gorgeous surroundings, there is no better place in Mallorca.
