Canyamel Classic & Spa, solo Adultos

The hotel was clean and fairly well equipped. Food wasn’t great and was often cold. There was a microwave available to reheat food on offer.
There wasn’t enough locally to make me feel like I’d ever want to revisit Canymel again and I can’t say it was a very welcoming place to visit. There was a bit of an uncomfortable atmosphere around being British tourists that gave us an overall feeling that we had no business being there. In the end we chose to cut our holiday short and will put it down to experience but very much doubt we’d venture to that particular side of the island again if we even bother with Majorca at all.

The hotel is in a beautiful bay-our room had a sea view-but there’s not a lot to do there. We had a car so travelled everyday, it was a good central point for the nearby resorts and towns.
The hotel itself is in need of refurbishment; one lift was broken down the full week, water flow in rooms was inconsistent-really hard to get an even temperature in the shower. The room was dated and we had an infestation of what looked like small mosquitos; they were getting in the bathroom from a small window on the balcony. As we are daytime explorers on a night we like to watch some TV and always come equipped with a usb stick. Unfortunately the TV wouldn’t play it; very old TV with no casting from devices and barely anything to watch. Fortunately I managed to retune it and get some, but this is another thing needs upgrading.
The restaurant was lacking in quality and variety for a four star hotel. The griddle and carvery were the other side of the terrace with two chefs sat chatting instead of cooking the meat fresh to order, it was batched cooked and cold. There were no service staff at dinner, I asked for drinks and one of the clearing staff said it’s self service. We were only half board so this was a bonus, but a bit odd. The staff were good overall.

My partner and I stayed here for 5 nights. I read some reviews below about the hotel being dated or for old people, but I completely disagree.
The entertainment was great, every night except for Mondays there was some form of entertainment: karaoke, acrobatic show, bingo, etc. Mohammad, the main member of the entertainment staff was fantastic and made sure that everybody there was having a great time, he deserves a lot of credit! There was music all day by the pool which changed day to day, and you could request to change it if desired. If you don’t enjoy having the music as background noise, there is plenty space to move to a sun lounger further away where this is not an issue and you can read a book, etc.
The food was nice, every day they have a mixture of a few dishes cooked inside with various themes (e. G. One night had Mexican, one night Italian, one night Asian, etc), with salad options and bread. Then there is a grill outside with both a freshly cooked meat and fish option every day, which always changes. Some of the dishes cooked inside were sometimes not the best, but the variety always meant there was something to enjoy every night. The grill was a particular favourite of ours.
The staff were all lovely, helpful and attentive.
The hotel is very close to the beach so it is easy to go there if you prefer that to the pool.
We had a great time — the room itself was quite modern. The bathroom was the only thing that could maybe do with an update.
