Review of Grand Palladium White Island Resort & Spa 5*

Generally a great hotel. Key advantages of this hotel: * Great location! 5 minute cab drive from hotel and walking distance to most of the bars and clubs * Huge! It's actually attached to a sister hotel and guests can share all 3 pools and all of the restaurants * Staff are all super friendly * Drinks are a plenty! * pretty reasonably prices considering the location, quality, and what you get. The reason I gave it a 4 star is I feel it's not truly a 5 star. My main gripe is about the food… They have 3 restaurants that are reservation only then they have 2 buffets. The first day we arrived, the 3 restaurants were all booked for that day and the next day! We were staying 3 nights, 4 days and we were only able to eat at one of these restaurants once. The buffets aren't bad but they have limited hours. They are open for 3 hours for breakfast, 3 hours for lunch, 3 hours for dinner… With 2 hour breaks in between. If you happen to want to eat when the two buffets are closed, you have to eat at the bar or the Cafe. The bar as pretty crappy pre-made food and the Cafe is literally the left overs from the buffet earlier that day sitting in warming plates. Pretty low quality. Plus, today my wife and I came down at 11:05am hoping for some coffee and was told both buffets closes, restaurants open for dinner only and require reservations, the bar doesn't service coffee and the Cafe was closed for a private event. Saturday morning at 11:05am and literally could not get a cup of coffee. If I ordered from room service, they charge foe that. So I feel the availability of food and quality of food outside of the prime hours is not great.
