Absolutely loved our stay! The location was perfect, the rooms were spotless and stylish and the common rooms with coffee and cake each morning were a lovely touch. Only thing I would say is that it would be nice if the staff had more local suggestions for food/things to do.

As we try to become more and more eco-friendly, we wanted to find a hotel with the same vibe. Step up Hostal Grau which is a couple of minutes from the hustle and bustle of Barcelona's biggest tourist attraction Las Ramblas. We arrived late on Friday but the gentleman on reception was very friendly and welcoming, taking us through everything we needed to know before heading off to our room. The rooms are perfect for a small break. No need for big flat screen TVs and alike. The room is simple, very clean and well laid out. The bathroom is large with a stone base shower which do the job at the start and end of the day. Despite being in a busy area, the hotel is very well insulated from the noise and the shutters keep out that blazing sun first thing when you aren't quite ready to get up. Each floor has a recycling area should you need it which is great to see. Every hotel should be adopting this policy. Downstairs isn't large but is very well designed and friendly. We didn't make use of the facilities but walking through, it was very charming to look at. All the staff that we encountered were incredibly friendly and able to deal with us luddite English-folk and our lack of lingual diversity outside of our mother tongue. I highly recommend this hotel if you visit Barcelona for a long weekend and want to be central.

We fell in love with this place! We didn`t want a standard hotel room that looks and feels like any other hotel in europe. Very friendly staff and good service. This is like a sanctuary… no TV, no fridge, not allot of "things" that made the rooms cluttered. Nice clean airy room with high ceilings. No breakfast included, which was perfect! The bacery was right around the corner, the same with greengrocer and grocery store. So you could buy anything and bring in to the cozy dining room that gave you that home feeling. The location is perfect. Close to "everything" and quite quiet at night. When we go back, we will ask for the same room! The security seemed to be taken very good care of and the staff took very good care of us from we arrived until we left. Here you can really lower your shoulders and become part of Barcelona… Loved it! Best regards Maricela & Paul.

Beautiful place, with the best location in Barcelona. Spacious rooms with a great bed and very nice atmosphere. Coffee machine available 24 hours. To 100 MTS of the RAMBLA and 300 mts of Plaza Catalunya. In the heart of the Raval. Great place!

Nice, super clean, nice, cozy, the locals are very friendly. In the Gothic quarter. The rooms do not have TV, which — according to your travel plan — may have more or less importance. When I return to Barcelona I return to Grau.

(PROS) It's a hostel with good concept. Interior is clean and comfortable. Staff is sitting by the entrance for help around the clock. (CONS) The facilities are below my expectations given the price. We paid 95 euros per night 1 month in advance, and it turns out you can get the same room for HALF the price 2 days in advance. 1) Room is small. We were initially assigned to a compact room which can barely hold a queen size bed and a small closet. After complaining no desk is available as described on booking, we changed to a bigger one with a small desk. However, the stool is too short to use the desk. (I'm 178 cm or 5.8 ft). 2) Barely no view or sun light. The first room (304) is located backside of the building facing a small garden. The second room (201) is in the front-side of the building facing another building 3 or 4 meters away, which blocks everything but noise. 3) Noise. Any noise in the alley is amplified by the structure (narrow alley, boxy building, no trees) and windows are not double-glass/soundproof. For people who are picky on the quietness like me, it's worse than a nightmare, because I can't barely fall asleep.

Good hotel, quite price for what you get, and their Wi-Fi is horribly bad, you need to like their FB page in order to use it! Horrendous.

Came to Barcelona for a few days and stayed at a disgusting hostel (Center Ramblas, AVOID! ) and had to leave during the night to find other accommodations. The staff member working at Hostel Grau was the most incredibly kind man and was so accommodating and helpful. We can't thank him enough for all his help, it really means a lot to us! His compassion and kindness speaks volumes to the Hostel Grau. The Hostel is so very cute and is in an excellent location! Recommend to all!

Loved the location in a side street off the Las Rambla. The staff was very helpful and available. The room was spacious and comfortable. I highly recommend!

Great, quirky rooms ideal for short stays in Barcelona as it is only a small walk from the Las Ramblas. The staff are also really helpful and friendly.

Hostal in the Gothic quarter reformed in 2013 and less than 5 minutes from the MACBA. Its location is unbeatable and the middle price ranges between 75 — €120 room/night. The Hosteria Grau can be considered a 21st century owned since elevator, Wi-Fi free for customers, air conditioning and central heating, luggage and highlight their "green" mentality by the use of recycled materials and their food proximity products alike (km 0). Its decoration vintage combined with traditional elements and its philosophy will make you enjoy your stay, that Yes, remember that breakfast is served from 5:00 to 7:30, so it plays up early or parsarte by your bar.

I stayed here for 5 nights in June 2008. Whilst room only and basic with no window view. Excellent. Great friendly staff. Clean. Secure. Good value for money. Easy access to the City. I'll go again.
