This parador is a disappointment as far as I'm concerned. The place is located in a corner of the pretty town of Santillana Del Mar. Its access is difficult by car, at least the first time. Remember to ask the front desk before you arrive.

The parking lot in front of the parador is nice. Its price at 7 euros per night is reasonable.

The building is pretty both outdoor and indoor.

On the other hand, room 137 is unworthy with a window worthy of a prison. Refuse it if you want to give it to you.

Very friendly service and breakfast is very nice if it can be taken on the outdoor terrace.

Beautiful classic style parador in a beautiful enclave such as Santillana del Mar. The staff is very attentive and nice and the facilities totally to my liking. The food is very varied and well prepared and the place quite quiet to relax after the different visits to towns like Comillas that I found a great population to spend the full day.
Worth the guided tour of Santillana.

Albeit really pretty, this is an exclusively tourist destination.

Middle of May in the sunshine. Beautiful old building in the centre of the village of Santillana Del Mar. Altamira caves nearby. Cider served in many bars in the village. Excellent breakfast. Room 201in the Parador de Santillana Gil Blas has a window overlooking the Plaza Mayor, the Cantabrian hills and a number of nesting sites of around 200 Cattle Egrets. Great to listen to their gentle chuntering at night.

Cosy Parador, it follows the line of Paradores of tourism of Spain.
Very nice and with an ideal location.
The only downside that the rooms are too small, despite this are very clean and well preserved despite being in a location with centuries.
The breakfast is amazing, all quality products and the region.

Santillana del Mar, town of obligatory stop if you are going to visit Cantabria.
Popularly known as the town of the three lies, you will be captivated by its beautiful surroundings and its cobbled streets as well as its places to visit, including the Santillana Zoo and the replica of the Altamira caves, among other things.

Standard dining service, well-related prices and quality.
There was a lack of an explicit indication of the cheeses served in Cantabria.
Good dining room, bathrooms in good condition.

Magnificent national Parador.
It is worth staying in the for its magnificent rooms, sovereign cleanliness and excellent service.
It is a place framed in the very center of one of the most beautiful and charming villages in Spain.
Without a doubt, although the price is higher than the rest of the lodgings in the area, the quality and the place deserve a lot of worth.

Detail. Floors entirely in wooden planks! Cozy. Parking in front parador and something complicated to find. Indicate to the municipal police that it is going to the Parador because the entrance to the environment is forbidden.

Very rich Chocolate with churros. The only downside is the price. If you can pay 6, €20, try it.

We just went to dinner and the truth, we had a great dinner. Good products and good treatment of them.
We ate a menu at night of 39 euros and worth every cent q we paid.
We will repeat without hesitation when we go to the area.

Disappointed. Detracts from the title "Parador Nacional"
Leaving aside that it is a beautiful building in one of the most beautiful villages of Spain, this 3 star hotel is too outdated. I doubt the rooms have been renovated in the last 25 years. If you want a getaway with feelings of native country house this is your place… If you are looking for a romantic and special hotel there are a couple of pretty better hotels at the same price in the village.
The rooms are extremely old, outdated and ugly. Gotelé walls, furniture nineteenth without grace, radiator heating that shuts down during the day, armchairs without comment, shower without handle that you burn because it is impossible to mix well the water… And I don't follow.
The breakfast was very good.

Very poor attention of the workers.

The historic centre of Santillana del Mar has the peculiarity that it can only be visited on foot; You won't find cars, which makes the tour very special. Among the buildings you will see in this historic town that has been preserved for hundreds of years its originality, is the house of the Eagle and the House of the square, the statue of homage to the man of Altamira, or the fabulous building of the city hall.  
Walking through the Plaza Mayor of Ramón Pelayo and the streets that depart from it, you will discover the charm of this Cantabrian people, in its cobblestones, in its monuments, and even in the houses built centuries ago, with beautiful flowers hanging from its balconies. Just 2 kilometres from the village you will find the Santillana del Mar Zoo, an essential visit especially if you have children. And just over 15 kilometres away you will find the beautiful village of Comillas, already bathed in the Cantabrian sea.

That's great! Super Suite with fantastic terrace! The staff were very friendly and helpful. And the village is special and magical.

Like all paradores, unbeatable location, beautiful typical building Cantabrean palace, with its wonderful and very manicured gardens and beautiful gates! For all the rooms spacious, clean, pleasant, the bathroom seemed sober and simple.

What an amazing place the Parador at Santillana Gil Blas is. This medevil palace is set in an incredibly well preserved town from the same period of history. The Parador has some amazing salons for relaxing in and a great terrace garden restaurant. As always the food, service and atmosphere of the Parador is second to none. Where else can you stay in such a historic place in an amazing setting.

What to say: When you have tasted the Parador hotels, you want to go back.

Stayed at the suite and everything was amazing. The big balcony had an amazing views and everything was perfect, service and everything. We loved it.

We have been the family (9 adults, 2 children and a baby) in this magnificent parador.
Not can less than highlight the behavior of all the personal his kindness and efficiency we have conquered.

It is an old building that is bursting with charm. The soils of the entrance are boulders. The room we were given was attic with views over the Town Hall square. Truly magical.
It was our anniversary so we encourage us to dine in the restaurant. A real delight. It was not cheap but not to ruin it.
What if that seemed expensive were the breakfast. They cost the same as eating at any of the restaurants in the village.
A place to repeat.

In the centre of this charming village. Worth staying to see the place without a thousand other visitors. We have used this Hotel twice, 25 yrs apart, and were delighted both times.
