The Lights Hostel Hostel

I stayed at The Lights for around 10 weeks and thoroughly enjoyed my stay! The staff and volunteers are great and always happy to help, give tips or just have a chat. It’s a shame there are no ‘free dinners’ right now… but there IS free sangria and what’s stopping you making some yummy food yourself to share? :) I especially loved the roof terrace which can be enjoyed any time of the year and the spacious showers!

It is cozy, it is very central, the staff is friendly.

The rooms were clean the volunteers were friendly and very helpful, food was good and reasonable, the drink is good and reasonable, very close to malaga centre and fresh food market and amazing tapas bars and wine bars, the prices are very reasonable as well.

Great place for Central Malaga!
Bus from airport stops within 100 metres! Or train 7 mins walk?
Central for all eating and touring!
Adjacent interesting Central Market!
Splendid sherry bar in next street! 1 euro a measure!
Breakfast 1.5 Euros!
Evening meal, I think was 3 or 4 euros!

Best hostel I've ever been to! Staff was super friendly and it's very clean! if you're travelling alone, that's the place to be! The rooftop terrace is a great place to make friends, drink free sangria or just talk. There's great dinner for only 3€ and breakfast is only 1.50€! Luggage storage is free as well as towels and a big blanket! Please keep it up that way! I'll definitely come back and recommend this hostel to everyone I know! You've made my trip.

It’s perfect location and atmosphere. And meet up new guys and girls here is easily and nice. Free sangria at 8-9pm and cheap delicious dinner offer, don’t miss it. Very worth for going pub crawl, get crazy and fun. So what are you think about staying here? Just book it when you want to come Malaga!

My friend and I initially planned to stay here for two nights, but we booked a third night because we really enjoyed the city and this hostel. The bedrooms, kitchen and bathrooms were all kept very clean. The hostel organizes fun activities such as a pub-crawl, free sangria on the rooftop every night at 8 PM and you can join for dinner every night for only €3. The personnel working at The Lights Hostel was very friendly, helpful and spoke English very well. Because of all this and the great location in Málaga where the hostel is positioned, I can highly recommend this hostel! Peace out!

The lights hostel had a great friendly staff and welcoming environment. Their kitchen was relatively big and had a nice rooftop terrace. Bed were also comfortable with many wall plug ins and curtains. I would definitely visit again. Shout out to Silvia for being the best receptionist!

Hotel located in the heart of the city. A lot of movement of young people, not at all a negative point. It has a good terrace for a drink.

The location was great, close to everything, totally deserve it. The room was very clean, a little smaller, but is ok. The personal from the reception were very friendly. Also, has a room for the luggage, after you check-out, for free.

Small double room but no more needs (hab. 111). Very careful, good presentation, free TV of 40", air conditioning and two large windows. The bathroom is large and current. I didn't like that the entrance to the room overlooked a landing that they used as a warehouse and that it sounded a lot about the sanitation of the upper room.

Great and comfortable hostel! Clean rooms and bathrooms. They organize fun (and cheap) evening events. Ps: bring a padlock for your personal drawer.

The location is perfect to get to know the center of Malaga. The building suites are great for going with family, the attention at the reception very good.
In the surrounding area you will find cafés for breakfast and restaurants for lunch and dinner.
The hostel itself also offers breakfast and meals…
The train station (airport) is 10 minutes away.

Very great hostel in the centre of Malaga. Was there for the second time. The rooms and bathrooms are clean. The staff helpful. Breakfast costs €1, €50. Every evening there is a different dinner dish for about €3 and free sangria. There is a bar and chill out area on the rooftop terrace. For a long now there has been a large construction site in front of the hostel, the works are quite noisy. The noise disturbs, but the hostel can't do anything about it.

I got over 15 bug bites here on my stay. So not cool. The bites took almost 2 weeks to heal and two got infected. I asked very nicely several times as to how they would help and they completely ignored me. They didn't even offer a refund. Not cool. Bites to my arm, neck and ear. Not a pleasant experience, made worse by the lousy customer service and support from the hostel.

A very nice hostel with many activities for its guests, the super friendly staff. The bathrooms are very clean and comfortable.

The hostel is very comfortable and clean, the kitchen is large and has a terrace where you can sunbathe during the day or a beer at the bar in the evening. Curtains and bed lights are the perfect detail. Very good atmosphere and great location, you can walk to all places. I recommend it!

Super nice super clean cheap and central.

The room are very nice and has lots of privacy. The staff is friendly and tlit has a very friendly atmosphere. It is clean and cheap, can't go wrong there. Only this I wish they had was more vegetarian meals for dinner but otherwise it was really nice.

One of the best hostels I've ever tried. Super clean and super nice staff. The bunk beds were solid with individual reading light and 3 power sockets. The only down thing was the saftely lockers which were super big (under the bed) but difficult to open and not very secure but fortunatelly everything was ok. All area were very clean. There is a rooftop terrace.

Super nice family hostel with a beautiful atmosphere right in the centre.

I spent 7 nights here in December 2017 and I absolutely recommend it. Free sangria every night, 2€ dinners, and a perfect location made this a great stay. As an added bonus, the staff are friendly and it is maintained daily for cleanliness. The bathrooms are well maintained as well, the shower is even better than the one I have in my house!

Far more than just a hostel: This is a place to connect with travellers from around the world!.
I spent a wonderful Christmas break here and there were no weak points that I could mention: Cleanliness, organisation, staff, meals, facility, location, afternoons in the terrace, etc is all 5 stars! 110% recommended ;)

I just left Malaga and I already miss this hostel. The hostel has a great Atmosphere and awesome staff. Every night a different yummie meal for just €2, — and from 8PM free sangaria at the rooftop to meet fellow travelers. I had an awesome stay at the hostel and I really would recommend this hostel! I will come back for Sure.

Centrally located hostel, well connected with airport and bus station and very clean.

Reasonably priced hostel in a central location. There's a roof terrace which is nice. They offer breakfast for 1.5 euros. You can also rent bicycles from them. The staff are nice and it's easy to meet people there.

Probably the best hostel I have ever stayed in. Very good value for money. Very clean. Helpful staff. Nice decor and music played in the common areas. Nice full breakfast for one euro fifty. Amazing food every night on the terrace for only two euros! Will stay here again in a heartbeat if I come back to Andalucia!

Stayed in a private room. Noisey inside and out soundproofing is a joke. Little overpriced but was very clean. Stayed 1 night only but it was enough. Aircon was not working. Very much a hostel atmosphere and a early twenties crowd.

Definitely my favorite hostel in town: cool vibes, perfect location and comfortable dorms. I would highly recommend this hostel to anyone!

It's a bit over priced and more aimed at holiday makers figures for the location but even backpackers like to relax and drink cheap. Nice place though and a lot better value than some hotels. Didn't quite have that hostel feeling you get in some places, the staff where a bit rude and patronising.

Nos alojamos en las suites que son habitaciones muy limpias y espaciosas con vistas directas al mercado. En cuanto entramos en la habitación supimos que habíamos acertado. Recomendable.

They just stole our money. We let a 100$ deposit. When we left, our room was clean and we had not broken anything. The guy who made the check-out told us that he never work there, he wasn't aware about the deposit system and he didn't find our deposit… After 20min discussion, we had to left to take our flight and we couldn't find any deal. Three months and many e-mails later, I still didn't get my deposit. Excepted this problem, the room and the shared bathroom was clean, the bed was ok (a little bit hard and small) and the location perfect.

This hostel has everything a hostel needs. Top location, great staff, and the beds are nice as well. Would sleep here again the next time I'm in Málaga.

Great place to stay if you want to have an outstanding experience in Malaga: nice caring staff, fully-equipped and clear rooms and a fantastic terrace from where you can enjoy the view while sharing dinner or a few drinks with the other guests you can easily make friends with.

Stayed in a private 2 person room. Bed was comfy, had air conditioning, bathroom was updated with rain shower. Rooftop terrace was pretty with friendly happy hour service. Only about a 20 minute walk to the beach. Would definitely recommend.

Amazing hostel! Excellent location, close to everything; the beach, the market, all the shops, bars and restaurants. The rooms are very clean, as are the bathrooms and showers. Beds are very comfortable. There are cool places to hang out such as the roof terrace (where there is free sangria every night) or the salon where you can chill out on bean bags and watch a movie or chat. Always a lovely atmosphere and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!

I was for a stop over for 3 nights in Malaga and did the Lights out hostel and slept. The Hostel is great located, from the main train station on foot in 3-5 minutes, is easy to reach. Also the Bars, Restaurants, Shops, and the Center is easy to reach. In the Hostel arrived, I was super nice to receive. The Girl at the front Desk gave me a few good Tips to eat and go out in the city and good places on the beach to chill out. The rooms are very cozy, clean, since every day durchgeputzt is and the fact that on each bed, a curtain is attached, one had also to his privacy. The Breakfast in the Hostel was also very tasty and you actually had everything you need, cereal, Toast, jam, Nutella, coffee and great entertainment at the havoc in the kitchen. What also mega cool is the roof terrace with free Sangria every night. And then, if you are in a party mood, is the Pub Crawl super to the nightlife of Malaga to explore and get to know new people. So the city also has a lot to offer. On hot days, it is super to on the beach to chill out and when it is not so nice is one of the many museums or in the many Shops little bit of money to get rid of :) I can see the Hostel on each case to recommend, and the price-performance ratio is top. Lights out hostel was an awesome place to stay during my travels! I enjoyed my stay here thanks to the really friendly staff and guests. The hostel is clean and simple and it's atmosphere is relaxing. Lights out hostel is located near the city center. Everything reachable by foot. Next time I'm in Málaga, I will stay here again.

Very cool place. Stayed here 4 nights and had a great time. Newly renovated house, nice and clean bathrooms, beds are great too. There is a nice roof top terrace where everyone hangs out in the evenings. Everyone is very friendly and the Hostel has a good vibe! I would come back any time.

The best hostel in Malaga! Perfect location, right in the city centre next to the central market, convenient to the beach and the train/bus station. Clean bathrooms and top quality showers, the beds in dorms have curtains, light, power socket and a dresser for the backpack, mattress supercomodo! Staff excellent, free sangria every evening on the terrace and pub crawl. The best environment to meet other travelers. Highly recommended!

Lights Out is one of the coolest hostels I've stayed in while traveling. GREAT atmosphere, cool dorm beds that manage to give you the feeling of privacy with curtains and personal lights. The rooftop terrace was an awesome place to mingle and meet fellow travelers. The staff were friendly and super helpful. Will definitely be coming back to stay here again!

The best hostel I've ever stayed in. The place was cheap (especially for July), even though we were in the biggest dorm with 10 people it was spacious and comfortable, the people working there were incredible, very friendly, helpful and lots of fun. The roof top terrace is excellent to chill out or eat on. They served dinner for anyone that wanted it every evening (delicious, home made and very cheap) and gave free Sangria to all guests at the same time. They had city tours and bar crawls organised all the time too. All other facilities including kitchen were good, bathrooms very good and clean. The best bits though were the other guests. The majority were travelling around Europe in their 20s or early 30s which meant that you could benefit from their heaps of travelling experience and would always have a great story to listen to. Plus I've made friends in a few days that I'm sure I'll stay in touch with for life. It's a great location only five minutes walk from the train station, 10 minutes from the beach and near a lot of bars and clubs if you fancy a night out. I would 100% recommend this place for anyone wanting to visit Malaga.
