My friend and I booked to stay at Seoul Base Camp 6 weeks ago in their private room and this week they said they overbooked the room so we could no longer stay there. Jake, the owner, suggested we try a cheaper hostel nearby which we have no interest in, as if he was doing us a courtesy. We asked again for a better solution such as a discount to stay in their dorm (even though this would be more inconvenient due to us having a lot of luggage) as we were really looking forward to staying at Seoul Base Camp based on their great reviews. However, two days have passed and we have received no response. All the other places we were previously considering are now booked out. What a selfish and poorly way to deal with potential guests. Thanks for wasting our time and money as well as stressing us out one week before the trip. I wish I'd never booked with you.

I had an amazing time at Seoul Base Camp. Its so central. So homie. So cool. I wish I could go back like right now. Best staff ever!

So it was my first trip alone and I was worried. But that didn't last because I felt at home immediately. The place was very homey and Jake and the others were very accommodating and helpful. Piggy and I had a love-hate relationship, I love him but he seems to hate clingy women. Anyways, the location was good. I can go anywhere and was only a couple of minutes away from Hongdae (my most favorite place in the whole wide world. ) Seoul base camp is highly recommended and I have also mentioned it in my podcast. You can hangout in the rooftop when you feel like eating or drinking or just thinking about stuff. That's it. I'll go back and stay with them again!

Amazing atmosphere for a good price. Great location, 10 minutes from Hongdae and merely a few steps from exit 8 of Hapjeong station. Hostel is cleaned daily and basic supplies are provided (shampoo, etc). Quiet hour ensures all guests can catch some sleep but the party continues on the roof, this was extremely nice because everyone could be happy. Hostel owners Jake and Min were very helpful during my entire stay, and were also very fun to hangout with. This hostel definitely enhanced my visit of Korea, I look forward to returning.

I had an awesome stay at Base Camp. Min and Jake have created a really alternative space that feels like a home.

Staff were very friendly as were the guests. Probably the best/friendliest hostel I have stayed at here in Korea. Great location as well, right next to everything.

I had stayed here for 4nights and honestly I was disappointed. Firstly, the staircase that led up to the hostel was smelly, I stopped climbing the stairs and went out to the streets again to really ascertain the location. Once I was in, I was greeted by a not-so-friendly receptionist with a very condescending look. The website did not mention about having a piglet roaming freely inside the hostel even inside the dorm, to make matters worse, the staff didn't even have a courtesy of restricting the piglet at common hours when i, who obviously was in distress because of its presence as I did not expect it for I would not have chosen this hostel if I knew of its existence, in fact the same condescending staff even chased the piglet near me. It was humiliating but luckily one of the travelers caught wind of the situation and held the cute piglet to allow me to move around before I left the hostel every morning. The room was filthy, so many stuff on the floor I couldn’t walk properly and safely. I even had a woman’s wet underwear hanged on my bedpost (every morning). Lastly, when I had to leave early on my check out day for the airport, though it was my fault of not checking out the night before as advised, but I did leave a note on the table before leaving saying about the arrangement for the refund of my 10000 won (and I even cleaned my bed and my trash nicely) but I still received no reply from them. I know it’s a negligible amount of money but a little courtesy will do.

I never have been the Seoul Base Camp but I know owner of this camp so I sure to recommend this place to you. If you go there, you can meet gorgeous people who is from different countries.

Loved this place! People here are so friendly! I really liked the hostell atmosphere: It was authentic and I really appreciated how clean the hostell was. I've been staying in three different hostells in Seoul, and this was totally my favourite.

Great Vibe. Community oriented. Jake the owner is friendly and incredibly welcoming. He even gave up his own room to accommodate for another travel. When I visit South Korea again, I will definitely stay at SBC.
