Randrivier Hotel

Lovely place for a stay in Robertson. We had a deluxe room which was huge. The only slight letdown was the Wi-Fi which was poor at the time we were there. Apparently this is not always the case but is satellite Wi-Fi and subject to atmospherics.

I have never had a problem using agoda before. Up til now, what I have booked and paid for I have always received. Randrivier is the first booking I have made which said to settle with the operator, directly. Although I booked and confirmed a one bedroom apartment for 3 adults in april of 2017 for jan 2018, and successfully paid a deposit of 900 rand, for randrivier guest house in robertson, there was no indication of a problem. Upon arrival in jan 2018 for 4 nights Jeanette said there had been a booking problem with agoda. The one bedroom apartment was actually a room. She said agoda made a mistake. I saw the room. There was no space for a third bed let alone to swing a cat. She did have a solution though. Coincidentally there was a 1 bedroom apartment available, with the third bed (a sleeper couch) and it was already made up. However, not at the 9 month ago previously agreed agoda price obviously. (THE OLD SWITCHEROO TRICK! ) If I wanted the apartment it would now not be at the agreed agoda price, because of their “problem”. With the proverbial gun to the head after a long journey, of course I accepted. She did ask if we intended eating breakfast. I declined for fear of seeing extra charges on the bill. At this stage she did not confirm the actual price. The room was acceptable, but dark. It was not private, as it had an Inter leading door to the main house. There was no mention of Wi-Fi, or use of the pool etc. The sleeper couch was totally uncomfortable.
