Highly recommended! De Hoop made the most wonderful and magical wedding happen for us. Their hospitality and the beautiful setting was the highlight of our wedding. With Covid-19 complications, the De Hoop team went above and beyond to problem solve, ensure compliance and make our day very special. The variety in scenery, landscape and animals make for an amazing spot. Genuinely, you have to visit to experience it yourself! We stayed with some immediate family for a few days and the visit itself was very enjoyable. A very unique gem which I'm looking forward to visit again.

Not to mention the excellent service we received. From checking in at the gate until the absolute last minute of our stay. Very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble. They even arranged a last minute game drive for us on the morning of departure and were even prepared to keep the kitchen open to be able to serve us a late breakfast on our return. Amazing food and great service! Gem of the Overberg!

We enjoyed a late lunch in The Fig Tree Restaurant. The food was tasty and beautifully presented. The service was good both at the bar and the restaurant. The views were spectacular — beautiful flamingos wherever one looked! Will definitely be back.

Something to suit everyone accommodation wise, from camp to houses. Very well maintained, neat and peaceful. Lovely!

We have been visitors to the De Hoop Collection at the De Hoop Nature Reserve in the Overberg district of South Africa’s Cape Provence for a number of consecutive years. Every visit to this unique place offers a wide variety of diversity and exciting new experiences. This year we participated in the 2018 Wine Whales and Music @ de Hoop Festival at the end of July. It was a weekend filled with joy! We did a late afternoon boat cruise on the Vlei and saw a variety of water birds including: Black-crowned Night Herron, African Spoon Bills, Grey Herron, Great Egret, Caspian Turn and Greater and Lesser Flamingoes. The evening was fun-filled with a gourmet dinner with suggested wine pairing from Avalon Wines whilst being treated to Cafe de Paris Musical with Cat Simoni. Early the next morning we did a bird walk around the Vlei and in-land area and once again we had great bird sightings including: the Southern Boubou, Southern Tchagra and the Cape Bulbul to name but a few. A variety of wine makers from the Overberg Wine Region treated us to their wines during a wine tasting on the Saturday. I had a lesson in chocolate making and was quite proud of the dark chocolate Grand Marnier truffles which I have produced. Late Saturday afternoon we attended an informative presentation by Lauren de Vos from the I AM WATER Ocean Conservation Foundation.

Nice large grounds with activities to support the outstanding nature. Loads of animals. Restaurant is helpful and nice bar. Super friendly. Easy to get to.

Wonderful place. One day we're going to take the whole family & stay in the 12-place whitewashed cottage (OK maybe 2 cottages) by the sea, watching whales by day & stars at night.

De Hoop is one of the most beautiful serene places to visit in the western cape. The lake is stunning. The architecture so typically cape belies the beautiful interiors and sublime food from the restaurant. Whether you attending a wedding or just a getaway, I found it absolutely a small piece of heaven.

It was a great time, with many beautiful impressions. Many animals seen and very beautiful nature. The accommodations are great, even the simplest. I ate the best king clip in South Africa, the cuisine is sensational.
