Unfortunately I cannot recommend Cederkloof Botanical Retreat. 6 weeks after booking and paying in full for a booking for the week between Christmas and New Years we get an extremely snotty message saying our booking is being canceled due to an "error in pricing. " If this error was picked up within a few days, then I would have no problem, but to contact us a month and a half later, and then to insist that we had not paid for the booking shows a serious lack of integrity and value for clients. WE had to do the due diligence to show booking confirmations and bank statements before they would take the matter further. The error was not on our part, so why should my family have to pay the consequences? We now have no way we can book any other accommodation over that period due to everything in the area being fully booked, AND TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE, we have to wait 15 days for a refund, meaning we are currently out of pocket. We have also lost out on any interest we would have incurred for the last 6 weeks. This is completely unacceptable business practice, and I would strongly suggest NOT EVER considering Cederkloof Botanical Retreat as a holiday or wedding destination, because of how little they feel for potential clientele. All of our itinerary bookings that we made in the Citrusdal area now needs to be cancelled, with us incurring those costs (should there be any) because of THEIR ineptitude. If you are looking for the perfect getaway in nature that is not far from the city with great walks, scenery, and hiking trails, this is it! Fully furnished cottages and tents with jacuzzis to top it all.

Cederkloof is soul restoring. The location is tranquil and calming. The units are neat, well-equipped and with so many thoughtful extras provided. We loved the labyrinth, the walking trails, and the jacuzzi, not to mention the dramatic sunrises.

We found paradise… Now I know why it's called a 'retreat' … Because visiting this amazing place once, is simply just not enough, so we will be sure to 'repeat' the treat sometime soon again We stayed at cottage no 4 which has 2 bedrooms, each with its own on-suite bath with BIG floor to ceiling windows overlooking the side of the hills (totally private) and walk in shower. Both with king size beds, luxurious egyptian cotton bedding and towels (a treat when out on our 2 wheeled adventures), a well kitted out kitchen with decent coffee to boot ☕and a spa bath just waiting for us to soak away the sore muscles after a few hours in the saddle. 15 minutes after our arrival we could feel the stress leaving our bodies as we found a spot to relax, whilst enjoying the fauna and flora and fresh air. We were all sad to leave but agreed thar we will be back to spend a full weekend in the hopefully not too distant future.

This place is on sacred land. With Bushmen paintings, sublime walks and crystal spring water — I feel the power of it in the deep relaxation and healing it exudes.

This is truly a pristine, beautiful place. My wife and I are super impressed with the accommodation — we are in cabin 8. The staff on the property are really friendly and very helpful. We would absolutely recommend this place.

My sister and I had the most amazing stay at Cederkloof! The facilities are beautiful and reside in the most picturesque and remote location. There is such fine attention to detail which impressed me greatly. No need for a 2 pronged plug as they have one in the room. I mean who does that? Thank you so much for a great experience definitely returning.

A slice of paradise hidden away. Unforgettable. I fell in love with my beautiful country all over again. Fynbos, lavender, rosemary, proteas and spring water. Not to mention the birds and sun beetles weaving their melodies together in glorious song. Stargazing, shooting stars and sweet memories. And for the rest, don’t worry… all the luxuries you need with a quiet jacuzzi thrown in the mix. Thanks you Cederkloof Botanical Retreat. What a treat!

What a nice place to relax to wake up to the sounds of birds in the morning, I will definitely go for a longer stay. The staff is very friendly and thanks to all of use for making our stay so warm.

Beautiful. Jacuzzi and verandah area a real treat. Cottages are far apart enough to still feel private. No noise allowed so it was great. Gardens and hikes very nice.

Oh wow, I'm so in-love with the natural beauty of Cederkloof Botanical Retreat! The breath-taking views, the tall oak trees. The bushman paintings and the hike there and to the amphitheater. The sacred feeling of the ancient land. I slept like a happy baby in the comfortable cottage and enjoyed the privacy of being 'still' in nature with all the comforts of home… I will always return xxx.

Beautiful and convenient breakaway! It's so relaxing and the people are great! The cottage has everything you could need, and the shops are a 15 to 20 minute drive from the retreat, if you need something. Let your hair down and chill in the jacuzzi, it's sooo worth it!

The owner is very friendly. She meet us by the pool and told us where to find the Charlet and other useful things. If we had any questions we just asked. We had a great time at Cederkloof. We loved that every charlets had their own spa. We also enjoyed the pool and the beanbags. The view was fantastic. We would have liked to stay longer.

What a lovely getaway in the mountains and you don't need a 4x4. We booked the 2bed luxury cottage. Loved the private jacuzzi and what an experience to behold the epic night sky. Great hikes. Pet friendly. Would love to go back again soon.

What an unbelievable experience. Wow. We will definitely be back. The silence and tranquility of this place is indescribable. The accommodation is simple yet so perfect for a mountain — feel getaway. Already planning to book our next weekend here! Couldn’t have asked for a better time away.

Excellent venue with great views. Good linen and wonderful jacuzzi at each cottage that is warmed up before arrival. Please note if you want to use the jacuzzi, it is outdoors and you have to book it before you arrive. They will then warm it up before you arrive — much too hot for us. It is quiet, private and romantic. Firewood is also provided free of charge. Great photographic opportunities. Hikes available or just chill. Would recommend a stay of at least 2 or more days.
