Over night on a voucher did not deter the staff from giving us 5 service together with an opulent room and excellent dinner and breakfast.

One of the best boutique hotels in the world. To benchmark it to international standards I would rate it on par with European boutique hotels like Hotel Lungarno in Florence, Italy. Fantastic service, lovely rooms, fantastic scenery and surprisingly very conveniently located.

Brilliant hotel. From arrival to departure, everything is just 5*. The staff in every department is knowledgeable and everything is in a walking distance what you might need. From a Italian restaurant, Blanko, to a Bistro & Bakery, La Belle, you will never be short of a high quality meal with excellent service. A must when in the area.

Classy Bakery for great 'goodies'. Will return to sit by fire again and enjoy a quiet breakfast or more.

Restaurant quality of food is very poor and bland, portions small and overpriced. Especially the seafood dishes. The outside seating and viewing excellent — maybe therefore the overpricing?

La Belle Restaurant and The Rose bar are always lovely to visit. A quiet space set in amoungst the beautiful big Oak trees and entertaining squirrels. The Rose bar overlooks the beautiful gardens and swimming pool, a tranquil place to meet friends and relax in beauty.

The bistro's food is very good — the cakes & snacks some of the best in Cape Town.

The ambiance is definitely set at this historic hotel with its amazing paintings. The huge trees confirm this historic environment. This place is a photographer's dream at night. The two painted cows (beautifully done) in the front garden leaves a bit of a question mark. It doesn't fit into this historic setting.

Been going here for years and still a great place for good food and wine.

Went to La Belle restaurant for a meeting, great coffee and perfect spot for a quiet business chat. Highly recommend.

Ate with friends. Dinner was very good, service was great but having to put up with the grotesque excuse for art on the walls is asking too much. If one wanted to visit a freak show, I'm sure one could find some sleeze club in a back ally and see the murals depicting the worst possible side of the human condition. One doesn't expecy to see it in full view of a paying clientele at an up market boutique hotel. We will not be back, even for a drink.

Beautiful venue for throwing an event and also great to stay. Staff are pilot and friendly. It does get busy at times but their service is never compromised.

Play ground for kids. Wide menu and pretty good food and service. Reasonable prices. Good parking.

From our check in to our check out, it has been warmth and welcoming. Excellent service, staff were exceptional and knowledgeable. Room was very comfortable and over all perfect. Silke certainly enjoyed her birthday and all was well prepared. We highly recommend your hotel and will definitely come back.

La Belle is often busy for lunch, make sure you book to avoid disappointment. However, very cosy and warm in winter.

What a privilege and a pleasure to celebrate out anniversary at the Alphen Hotel. The staff pulled out all the stops to ensure that we enjoyed our stay and spoilt us on our special occasion. The accommodation was perfect, the vibe at the Rose Bar where we had pre dinner drinks was great, Blanco meal and service was excellent, La Belle breakfast was awesome. Thanks for a great experience.

Christmas Lunch at The Alphen. What a hugely disappointing experience. We were a party of 5, had booked and paid upfront (months in advance) for what we expected — at the price and its reputation — to be a beautiful Christmas lunch at Blanko, The Alphen Hotel's elegant restaurant. It turned out to be the most underwhelming, badly managed event of the year. The kind of story foreigners would tell their friends back in London about, and why it's no longer worth coming to Cape Town. Our group are all locals, btw, who paid ZARs for the biggest rip-off of the year. 1. Our reservation was for 13.00. We were on time. After we had ordered drinks and selected our meals from the small (read: unexciting) set menu, we waited two hours for our starters. After an hour, we began asking when we could expect to get our food and were told that the kitchen is very busy today (yes — it's Christmas Day, surely you knew what to expect and had planned your resources accordingly? ). 2. After starters, another hour's wait for main courses. Would love to have started eating, but we had no cutlery. After asking two waiters, one of us eventually went inside the restaurant and asked the manager for cutlery, which took another five minutes to get to the table. By which time our food was cold — nothing like cold, soggy pastry on a cold Beef Wellington — but we were too scared to send our food back, in case we had to wait another hour. 3.

I wish to express our sincere thanks for the excellent service we received on our Wedding Day 16 December and the overnight stay! The wonderful staff, food, our room and service was impeccable! We will definitely refer friends and family to the Alphen Boutique Hotel. You made our Day extra special!

Loved every moment there! Such a beautiful retreat in outskirts of Capetown with outstanding attention to detail — breakfast brought to our room when we did not show up for breakfast one morning!

An experience incredible in the Alphen Hotel. Was of holiday in South Africa but had some issues urgent of work that meet however the frequent problems of Internet that are normal in this country I generated much stress. My South African friend suggested I call the Alphen Hotel to see if they had a Business Center to work. Alphen I allowed work without any cost in your room's together until the 1 am during two nights. The service and the attention are unmatched. I will always be very grateful for this hospitality gave me.

I often meet people there for business over lunch and breakfast. Fantastic food in a wonderful setting. Only a few kilometres away from the city and already you are in the country. Beautifully restored wine estate. Great Service. Great Setting. What more do you want.

Great service, friendly stuff. Breakfast is great value. Food is great. They have live music Wednesday to Saturday. Nice jazz music. We stay here for 8 days travel around the Cape Town. Much better than staying in city centre it is quite at night safe and relaxing… I highly recommend it.
