Wow!. I don’t think I can put into words how amazingly special this place is and how talented Sam and Marliek are at what they do. We never wanted for anything during our week long stay everything from 5 star food to game drives and bush walks all catered for to the highest standards. I was lucky enough to share my engagement with these guys and they went above and beyond anything that I ever expected from helping me with every single detail from a candle lit dinner to champagne and chocolates. They couldn’t do enough for you. Marlieks cooking is out of this world and her attentiveness and genuine interest in making sure that every aspect of your stay is perfect is actually amazing it doesn’t matter what you need she always provides it and makes it feel like home. She put together a little video momento of our engagement which is something that we can now treasure and look back on for the rest of our lives. So special! I’ve never known anyone else to go this extra mile for you. Sam is the ranger on the lodge and his knowledge and attention to detail in everything from animals all the way down to the trees birds and ants on the floor is actually incredible. We learnt so much from
Him about the environment and habitat that these animals roam around in. And it makes it so much easier when the ranger is as accommodating and welcoming as Sam was to us and everyone else who was coming and going at the lodge.

The Kurhula Wildlife Lodge is the epitome of relaxing on vacation.   One really feels in Africa. The cabins, on a crest, are on the edge of the common space and walking paths, which wind down the gently-sloping hill to the Olifants River. The open-air dining area is in the middle of the common space, sheltered by a tree, includes a comfortable table on a cement slab, complete with a grill for the braai. Troops of monkeys commute through the trees; elephants and predators can be heard and seen from everywhere on the property. Our hosts, Kim and Sander, are a hospitable Dutch couple with a flair for presenting enticing group meals and enthusiastically showing the surrounding wilderness. The high point of Kurhula, for me, was watching families of elephants wash each other and play in the river. They seem unhurried and studious in their purpose.

We loved staying at Kurhula Lodge! Being emerged by the Savana, getting to look the animals in the backyard was an awesome experience! Its not a fancy Lodge but it has everything you need! Rooms are great, the hotel facilities as well! The swimming pool is exactly what you will need during a warm day or after a game drive. The most special about this place was the Staff. Marliek, the manager, is so nice and arranged everything to make you feel confortable there. Bill, who drove us during Game Drive is really nice, knows a lot about all the nature around and is a great company to be with during this experience. This is a place that you end up conecting with other guests, dinner is served for everyone in the same table and you get to know everyone around. The food is also really good! I asked trough email to make vegetarian options and everything was delicious! Would totally recomend the place! If you are staying there and are not going anywhere else besides the airport after I recomment asking for a drive to the hotel, we rented a car to go there and it wasn’t worth it (we didn’t use for the 4 days when we were there and also got a flat tyre because of the roads around). Tottally recommend te place! :)

We stayed for 3 nights at the Kurhula Wildlife Lodge and were extremely pleased.
The owners are extremely friendly, very helpful and know how to run a place to stay.
The rooms are stylishly decorated, with large windows facing the river. There is also air conditioning and a veranda in front of the room.
The arrival is as well stated several times there something bumpy, but it is worth it! It is a very beautiful patch of nature.
Personally, I found the food best. I have never eaten so well in a lodge/hotel. It is taken into account on everything (vegetarian eg) and the food is better than in almost every restaurant!
I would stay there again and recommend it to anyone.
A day trip to the Kruger is also well feasible despite a long journey.

We had a wonderful stay at Kurhula. The location in amazing and we saw dozens of animals, including several of the big 5, in the surrounding area. The accommodations are cozy and comfortable and the food is fantastic. The hosts are lovely and will go out of their way to ensure that you have a nice trip. One tip: make sure you rent an SUV or 4x4 vehicle as the gravel path to Kurhula would be very difficult to navigate in a standard car.

Fantastic place to peace of mind.

Quiet, remotely situated lodge on the Olifantsrivier. The road to get there is an adventure on its own, but you won't be disappointed. Comfortable chalets, good food. Make sure to do the early morning walk with Johan. Great guy, extremely knowledgeable. And remember: always stay behind the rifle and don't run!

Secret tipp at the edge of Kruger National Park. Every bump on the dirt road is worth the drive to this litte paradise. We will be visiting the second time this year…

Sit sky full of stars and great views of the garden and the River on our private porch (Yes, Wi-Fi and outside each room), a clear. Host Sander and Kim are full of passion and know. The food is absolutely fantastic. The rooms are modern, clean, and all have that look on the river. The new swimming pool is great. We saw many animals around the lodge and on the game drive. A unique hidden gem in the Bush.
