I recently had the pleasure of hosting a conference at this hotel and seriously I cannot say more nicer things about this property and the staff. This event took a lot of work to set up and Paul and his management team pre event where amazing and so accommodating to us. We are a difficult client. Nothing was too much trouble. From the moment I set foot on property, that carried on. Paul and his front office staff and then every single other member of staff were amazing. They managed everything superbly and there wasn't a single thing wrong. The hotel itself was perfect. Great facilities but set in superb grounds so it was great for the delegates every day to be in such lush greenery. The food was exceptional. Tasty and huge portion sizes. I can't say more positive things about this hotel. The whole set up works so well. Well done to you all.

Whenever I visit Pietermaritzburg, from my home abroad, I look no further than the Redlands Hotel. Situated in a quiet and attractive suburb, not too far from the city centre, Redlands is elegantly maintained, offering spotless and spacious rooms, some over-looking the sparkling blue swimming pool and the gardens which are crafted with an eye for detail. Tasty food from a menu of great variety, a gated entrance with secure on-site parking, and a welcoming greeting from all the staff (the General Manager included) will make your stay one to remember — and Redlands Hotel a place to come back to, time and time again.

Nice deco, comfort n big space for a couple as well as family, everything is perfect.

Considerable noise from other guests until after midnight. Very heavy duvet with no sheet as an alternative. Puny aircon so hot & sweaty night. Summer must be truly hellish. Late check-out appreciated.

Located in a quiet suburb, this Hotel is ideal for small conferences and social gathering and have your guests booked to hit the hay within it.

Best place if you want to relax, have dinner… The food is scrumptious, great service, love the atmosphere. It's the best hidden gem.

Very friendly personal. Restaurant for dinner, have specials at reasonable price. Sit at bar outside by the pool on the grass. Breakfast included in the price. Quiet area.

My A/C was not working properly in my room. The fridge did not work and I would have liked an elevator.

An upmarket hotel towards the northern side of Pietermaritzburg in KZN. Good conference facilities and excellent food.

The furniture is outdated and you are restricted in terms of the breakfast, there is that odour for the unused place for a long time.

Good hotel, nice breakfast and in a nice neighborhood. It is located in a condominium with beautiful gardening and a swimming pool, which gives a relaxing feeling, even if it is too cold to swim. Spacious room with nice bed. Shower a little too small.

Attempted to book this establishment to host my daughter's second birthday. Total Lack of interest from management… Hotel manager Paul actually said to me that like I have a daughter so too does he have a daughter and he was busy attending her swimming gala which was his priority… which by all means attend the gala but take the day off and ensure that there is alternative staff to service guest queries. I made initial contact with him on Tuesday and till this morning all I was given is excuses. I then traced the details of the owner and called him to escalate the issues I experienced and lack of interest from the staff… the response I received is that Paul will revert to me. I then three hours later recieved a call from Paul who says I had no business escalating my complaint to his director and that he as the hotel manager refuses to allow me to hire the venue and services.
Amazing that a business will turn down a booking of least R12000 for a high really event. Paul was arrogant, rude and racist.

Was very disappointed in the restaurant. Took my wife there for our anniversary — the whole Redlands complex is so upper class, but the restaurant and bar were very shabby. Would not recommend eating at Redlands.
