My beautiful parents, John and Stephanie, who were on route to their new retirement home in Howick, which was not yet quite ready, just spent a week at Fern Hill. They found it to be a magical experience in such beautiful and peaceful surroundings. The accommodation and furnishings were so luxurious, and the food quite exceptional according to the daily reports, texts and photos they sent me. I am resident in Australia and had many concerns about their well being but was constantly reassured that they were so well looked after, with so many acts of kindness shown to them particularly by Karen and Lulu. I believe it will be an experience they will treasure forever. Ironically this is the same hotel my husband and I stayed at, and acknowledged we were in love with each other 28 years ago. I remember how I loved Fern Hill then, and from my parent’s account of their stay, it is even a more special and beautiful place today. Please consider booking yourself in for a few days. You will not regret it.

Quite a disappointing service tonight… Ordered the pork belly which arrived with black edges and an undercooked rubber center. By the time the waitress arrived back at our table, everyone else had finished their meals. I expressed my despondency, only having had 2 bites of my meat, my plate was cleared and no effort was made to rectify the issue. Then we ordered some Kahlua coffees and waited an upward of 30 minutes only to find out that it was forgotten about. When asked to bring the bill and leave the coffees as we were wanting to leave, the bill arrived with the coffees. Overall, I love Fern Hill and we generally always have a pleasant time, but tonight's food and service definitely wasn't to standard.
