I am disappointed at this hotel. It looked good from the pictures on the website. The family room was very small. They crammed a normal room with two queen beds. There wasn't enough room for us to walk around. The sheets were stained. The linen looked like it hadn't been changed. I had to sleep on top of the covers. The cupboards and drawers are broken and it is a struggle to open. I would not stay here again.

The place is clean, beautiful. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. They able to serve us & assisted us with everything we needed even though we arrived early hours of the morning. Night duty staff who worked with Senzo.

OMG the food and the service received excellent, the staff is friendly and hands on when you need their help with a happy face, The reception staff and the resturant staff big ups to them. And special thanks to Fanie from Reception (night duty)

Buffet breakfast was great and although wheat free breads and pastry were not available still delicious.

One of the better Protea hotels. I like the Tudor theme throughout but some might not. Restaurant staff were a little slow but the food made up for that.

Beautiful historic hotel. Large rooms. Fantastic kitchen!. Hotel has a large bar and the pool area is magnificent. Staff are ever helpful, super friendly and adaptable.

It's a nice location and has alot of historical value but the food is average.

Rooms are stunning. We were initially attracted by the pictures but the hotel surpasses in reality. The pool area is marvelous and allows one to bask in the sun during a lazy afternoon whilst the kiddos play in the very safe water area beside the pool. Staff are very helpful and Light Meals are scrumptious.

Lovely stay at this historic hotel built in the 1930's in the quaint town of Hilton. The service was excellent. The pool area is great for lounging and very safe for kids as they have an ankle deep pool for them. The a la carte menu is on the expensive side though as are the breakfast buffets.

This is basically a glorified formula one hotel. Service levels are non existent we actually left a day early just to get out. Give it a miss. Stay anywhere else, pitch a tent on the side of a suspicious dark road if you have to… it will be better!

My husband and I decided to have date night at the restaurant! We literally live 30 seconds up the road! And WOW! Were we blown away! Gorgeous decor and eloquent vibe! Wonderfully friendly, professional, helpful and accommodating staff! And the food! So so so divine! We will definitely be back and recommend it to everyone we know! Thank you for such an amazing experience!

Quaint hotel just outside the hustle and bustle of the Pietermaritzburg city. Great amenities and Olde Victorian and Tudor ambiance. One of the best in the area!

The service was incredible, and I felt comfortable, breakfast was good also. All in all a wonderful stay.

Another dissapointing place appalling excuse for a hotel. Was also there for two days and had 2 lunches there. The menu was the same with Lasagna and Grilled chicken for both days. Day 1 the Lasagna was edible, but I couldn't take it on Day 2. It had this funny smell which you could hear when you coming into the restaurant and it tasted horrible. I called the waiter and advised her and with a bold look on her face she claimed that it was freshly prepared. Moments later they took the dish off their serving table and brought another dish of Lasagna which was nice and fresh. I asked her what had happened to the previous dish and she responded with confidence that there was nothing wrong with that dish and that it was confirmed by everybody in the kitchen including the Head Chef…

Awesome hotel. My wife and I have stayed there many times. Awesome service and hotel is fantastic as a whole. The hotel itself has great access to the Natal Meander and well worth the cost and stay.

Although the tudor style rooms was comfortable, broken taps in the bathroom was not in line with the 4 star rating. Worst dining experience ever in a hotel. No value for money.

Very average rooms, slow front desk, room smelled stale and decor is dated. We were given beer glasses for our red wine. Beer glasses.
