What an amazing place to stay at, the most friendliest staff, very quiet and peaceful you can only hear the birds chirping. The food are incredible and the most breathtaking view I have ever seen.

The Upstairs Family room is lovely and the kids loved it. Beautiful views over Ladysmith. Shay was an excellent host making us feel so welcome. The only place I have been to where they only put a small mark-up on the drinks in their honesty bar. Vegetarian food choice not only accommodated but delicious. Lovely warm fire in the dining room at night and fascinating memorabilia in the dining room and pub. Pet-friendly; we had a cat with us that did not behave and Shay handled the situation with understanding and compassion. Highly recommend Buller's Rest Lodge.

We arrived at Butler's rest after a 9 hours drive from Limpopo. We received an incredibly warm welcome from Graham and he announced that, because it was quiet that night, we had been upgraded! Such a treat! The place is beautiful, homely, luxurious and generous! We had a superb breakfast — with beautiful views over the town. I wish we were here for longer! Thank you Graham and Linda. We highly recommend Butler's Rest Lodge in every way!

This place is amazing. Ladysmith is a small town though the staff here at Bullers Rest have huge hearts. They are so inviting and friendly. I have stayed here 3 times and I only come back because of Graham. He is the manager and always makes sure our needs are met. The rooms are big and spacious as well as a lovely place to relax. I recommend Bullers rest to anyone visiting in Ladysmith.

From the moment we arrived we (touring party of 14) felt welcome and at home. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The food was superb — tasty and served with care. On our departure day the tour bus could not be started. Staff looked after us throughout the experience and saw to it that we had a lunch while we waited. The lodge is set in a beautiful area of Ladysmith and has a spectacular view in lovely gardens towards the Drackensberg range. Could not fault the place and would come back in a heartbeat.

Perfect hospitality, great food, great views. Superb value for money, lovely grounds and beautiful rooms. Highly recommended for families and couples. Plus I loved the honesty bar!

If there was an option with more stars I would give this place a 10 star rating. From check in to check out the quality of service was impeccable. Graham went absolutely out of his way all the time to accommodate. Options of different rooms was superb and the place was extremely clean. Definitely one of the best breakfasts I've had in comparison to many other places I've stayed. If you ever need a place to stay in ladysmith forget the many others. This is the place to be and believe me I have stayed in many others. Kudos to Graham and team. Will definitely be back.

The food, both dinner and breakfast was excellent. There is a lovely peaceful atmosphere about the place and the views over the town and up to the drakensberg are just gorgeous. As someone who travels a lot, I really appreciate the service and friendliness of the staff. The boer war pub is a gem and I enjoyed learning more about the fascinating history of the area. This is a special place to which I will always return when I'm in the area.

Amazing place to stay. We stayed a pre and post night to our trip! Hosts are very welcoming and the luxury room is absolutely beautiful we will definitely be back in the future.

Very, very good for the price point. Online precence does not do the place justice. Service is also bery welcoming.

In order of excellence. The staff, The view. The rooms. We travelled the N1 and N2 these holidays and this was the most surprisingly enjoyable spot. Staff were pure class.

I love it here. Always stay when on business. Their new luxury suites are gorgeous.

This place is terrible they treat you like a criminal. Its a old age home because you cant make noise you have to be in bed by 10. We paid a lot of money but we did not pay to sleep. We paid to have a vacation and have a good time but we were told that we are not allowed to do so. I would not advise anyone to stay here unless you going there to pass away. We basically spent R 9000 THIS WEEKEND AT BULLERS REST for accommodation and in all honesty people don't spend 9000 to go away and sleep all we wanted was to have a braai and enjoy our time we not noisy people we don't get drunk and break things but we were treated like we were criminals. The manager basically will give you a bed time and you need to stick to that. This is last time I will ever consider bullers rest for accommodation.

Great! Very nice chalets. Great breakfast. Friendly owners. Lovely view over the valley and the mountains beyond. Probably one of the best places in town, based on the feedback from chatting with locals.

We enjoyed 2 nights here in this lovely thatched lodge. Our poolside room was superb. The small pub filled with Boer war memorabilia was a great place to meet the other guests with whom we also had a meal with at the lodge, excellent food and wine for a very reasonable price, polished off with more wine on the terrace overlooking the town.
Ladysmith was well placed and central to all the key battlefield sites and we would highly recommend this lodge.
All the staff were friendly, attentive and helpful.
Look forward to returning one day.

Wonderful reception and stop over on our way to Durban. And dog friendly! I must commend the staff and hospitality received. My dog loved it and we sincerely appreciated the freedom we were allowed on the grounds despite having a boisterous puppy which was a welcome respite from what was a stressful drive for her. Highly recommended, especially if you can't bear to be away from your pet on vacation.

Beautiful place and lovely staff. Very elegant rooms with high sachet ceiling and big windows. Crisp cream and white interior with wooden floors, windows and furniture. Lush garden with many birds and views over Ladysmith. Close to Nambiti big 5 game reserve were you can take morning and afternoon game drives, you can also get close to, and even touch big cats at the Kwa Cheetah breeding program in Nambiti.
