Hospitality great staff secure parking nice view at back of the hotel.

The hotel is clean, staff is friendly and helpful and of course the great view outside.

Friendly staff, with the necessary ' controls'. Prompt service and varied menu. Spacious indoor and outdoor bar/eating area. Awesome ambiance.

No Wifi for 2 days. Why no wireless Wifi. I have to send data to my son at this Hotel that was more expensive then others in the area thinking I always stay at a Marriot Hotel and get good service. He needs Wifi because he flew down from Durban for Prac at Unisa and needs to communicate with his group. It is costing me more now.

Rooms are clean and modern, however the staff are unfriendly and bordering being rude.

We had to request for basics right through out our stay. From the 2nd mug because there were two of us, to tea… The rooms had no complementary bottled water. When requested, they said we should go to the convenience store across the street. The breakfast spread was the plainest I have ever seen.

Value for money, clean crisp bedding, one of the first hotels I've been to where the toilet still smelt clean after the 2nd day, room was a nice size.

Booked for work purposes for a week. Got there and I had to wait almost an hour to get a room. Very nice room though.

Beautiful lake with a walk way bridge and lots of greenery over looking it. So calming environment. Had amazing Lamb at the restaurant — good tea n delish cake too.

Food service a little slow but seems cooked to order. Nice views — not mind blowing but lovely sound of running water under the deck. Staff very friendly and attentive.

The Protea hotel Roodepoorte is ideally situated with easy assess to the N1. Sandton City Mall and Gold Reef City was just a short drive away. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Rooms were neat and tidy. Will definitely stay here again.

The rooms are okay but don't expect to find service here. This is the second night in a row that the food has taken forever… and there are no waiters to be seen. From all the Protea Hotels I've stayed in this has by far been the worst. I wonder what do the managers and staff think of the service they provide. And if someone ever checks up on them… Honestly, I am very sure you will find a better place to stay near this hotel.

I've stayed at this hotel many times and they are consistently friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean, comfortable, a good size and quiet.

Their Food it's Delicious taste nothing like Hotel Food and restaurant has a great view Over the Lake. And Their rooms are Breath taking in terms of the Window View.

Great hotel for the price, clean and same Marriott standards. Only reason it wasn't 5 star was because they did not have a chance, even after having requested one and they confirmed it would be sent to the room. Luckily we had friends in town with one.

I had a five star experience! The room was larger than I expected! It was definitely up to American standards. The bed was comfy and having the a/c was wonderful. The food is great. The buffet style give you ease of mind to have variety. The staff was over the top friendly. It has a restaurant attached if you desire a switch in food. I felt perfectly safe the entire time. There is a LIFT! So staying on upper floors is easy! Also the hotel has a shuttle service to the airport. I highly recommend this hotel! Amenities are simple but more than enough to keep you happy for your stay! Oh, grocery shopping, pharmacy shopping and local shopping within 5 minute drive! Uber is in Joburg!

Service is great, good food.

Room was clean, staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was heavenly and view was calm and serene.

Good Points: Quite nice and affordable. Buffet is alright and cheap, not enough varieties though. Thursdays are best… it's grill day and you can have your fill. Rooms are clean & cozy. The receptionists are nice and attend to you with smiles Bad Points: No gym room. You have to use another complex where you have to pay. Accommodation does not include breakfast. There's no water in the fridge. You have to pay for water. The elevator is a bit cranky and misbehaves once in a while. Some of the waiters are a bit stuck up, doesn't smile much. Like you are a pain (my perception though) However, if you are low budget… I recommend this hotel. For a 3star hotel they are alright …

The staff were unbelievably friendly, polite and helpful. It's is a pity that one has to mention these qualities as outstanding but they are becoming very rare. Well done staff of the protea hotel.

I was here for 5 days when I visited SA, it was a lovely stay. Nice and friendly staff, complimentary breakfast with lots of options to choose from. Nice outdoor lake like view. Lovely rooms with nice view. It's just a place to be. No swimming pool.

Great location excellent Service. Secret gem the patio overlooking the small stream at the back of the hotel.

If I could give it 0 stars, I would. It's dirty, badly run. Protea used to be a better quality brand. It has fallen to low quality with high quality prices.

Staff friendly, breakfast excellent, although only had one evening meal, that was good. Important, safe location.

This is the best hotel in Gauteng I never seen in my life. The rooms are well cleaned and well suited.

Poor service (with a few exceptions) Bad room (missing bed, stirring old kitchen equipment) Staff always talking loudly to each other Waited 1.5 hours for my airport pickup because they forgot, ended up getting a taxi then they got angry with me at the hotel for getting taxi. Wifi was down all day Staff forgot to pickup my clothes for cleaning even though they were asked, now I need to buy some additional at the airport.

Very good service. Really enjoyed my stay. It was actually my second time staying here and it exceeded my expectations.

Stayed here in and out for a couple of months and had a very good warm experience. The staff are very nice and friendly.

Protea was given a very high recommendation by a lot of people even my dad worked in Richards bay protea hotel and rated it excellent but this one changed our minds about all protea hotels will never ever book with them again.

Horrible Experience. Booked a Double Room, got a Twin room, then asked to move, then got a room with BLOOD on the bedding with a 3/4 bed for me and my Girlfriend?!?!?! WTF! Avoid at all costs.
