The atmosphere is simply delightful and the staff so extremely helpful. The rooms are spacious, luxurious, without being not over the top, comfortable and welcoming. Dinner at The Flame, was delicious, with large portions and the house wine was full, flavorful, with a complex character. My favorite drink of the night though was a gin and tonic — light, crisp, refreshing. Very much enjoyed the way it was served… come see! Servers were pleasant and hardworking, extremely willing to accommodate, and very helpful and understanding when ordering around allergies. The grounds at the Four Seasons offer a variety of plants, with each one finding themselves naturally nestled in pots, or springing from the rich, sandy, dry South African soil. A true Johannesburg gem!

Very good service, super large hotel complex and very quiet. There are shuttle services for the distances on the premises, which can be called very easily via concierge app. The spa is superb and the staff super friendly. The perfect place to relax but also for business. The bed in the suite is the best I've ever slept. The quality of the food from the room service is ok, however the food outside is better everywhere. The breakfast is fantastic for that.

From reception to rooms to dining to breakfast I cannot fault the experience, the staff were the most welcoming and friendly. The food at Flames and The View was exceptional. Highly recommended a stay here. Will be back.

This is our second visit to the Westcliff after completing a safari. It is an extraordinary property to relax in and be pampered for a few days prior to our long flight back to Boston. The rooms are lovely and very large. The property is so unique and charming. But the real treasure here is the staff! The hospitality is so welcoming and everyone is extremely friendly and helpful. The food at the Flames restaurant is simply delicious and so artfully presented. And the view is to die for! We will return for a third time in the future…you will absolutely love how wonderful it is here.

Inverroche Gin Academy is quite a unique & incredible experience, making your own gin in such beautiful setting & breathtaking views.

An iconic hotel which has the number one spot for a great view of Joburg. A must is to stop off during the Jacaranda blooming season. So from about beginning October through to end November. The view is a field of lilac blooms where one can really appreciate the millions of trees planted. The Flames Grill and Restaurant offers spectacular views and warm service.

An elegant spot with excellent customer service. We went there as a large group and our waiter and the manager did not skip a beat in meeting our needs. They have a geat menu to boot. It's a bit pricey but worth the experience. The ambiance is fantastic.

This is one of South Africa's most exclusive hotels. The rooms are built on the hill and some ascend even higher and overlook the entire city. What a beautiful sight. The hotel service and staff are impeccable. A visit to this hotel is a must.

Probably one of the best hotels in the world. There are several small apartment blocks scattered throughout the hillside. A golf cart to take You up to the top part of the property where they have a beautiful restaurant. One thing to note is that the service here is absolutely 5+ stars.

I was there for a Donne even but the staff was excellent. Their hospitality was 110%, and their friendliness is welcoming. Best place to go for a special occasion.

We had a 4 day stay at the Four Seasons Johannesburg in April 2018. Despite arriving at 6am after a long haul flight (and check-in being 3pm), the staff pulled out all the stops and had a room ready for us by 8am. In the interim we were allowed to use the excellent spa facilities to freshen up, and the café near reception provided pots of tea to keep us going. The service during our stay was exceptional and our every wish was catered to. The staff are friendly, helpful and chatty without being intrusive. The rooms are large, the views spectacular and the food at the Flames restaurant of exceptional quality (not to mention the view). I would definitely stay there again, given the opportunity.

What an incredible stay and time we had the Four Seasons Johannesburg. Everything from the service to the venue was beyond fantastic. A perfectly good hotel. And far below expectations of a Four Seasons. Service was the opposite of the normal Four Seasons "We're happy to do anything for you, now" experience. Check in was slow — took three people to check us in. Porters/Bellmen were hard to find and slow to arrive. I left something in our room and a week later we still can't get a clear answer as to whether it has been found (though we can assume not! ). Overall service was generally conducted as if the staff was doing the guests a favour. Nothing was specifically wrong, but overall experience well below expectations. In general, the staff needs to go and visit another Four Seasons (anywhere else! ) and learn what good service looks like and how to deliver it with a smile. On the plus, the complimentary poolside strawberry milkshakes were truly fantastic.

The view is great, but the food? not exactly. I was promised that the menu will be changed soon, so let's see. Still worth visiting!

As a result of which the hotel complex is situated on a hillside, many steps and steps are to be climbed in the hotel object. So really beware eyes on there a level since a paragraph — running comfortably is something else!
It is a good hotel — but luxuriously referring to the many stairs and steps/paragraphs is something else — a certain fitness is provided the hotel is okay.

Exceptional venue for any formal event. Views are some of the very best in johannesburg and the rooms are plush and well equipped. Staff are incredibly professional, while the many restaurants offer exceptional quality. A real MUST if you want the real joburg experience!

Used to be a 4 or 5 star restaurant. The views are stunning, but the service and food very average. They had NO fish knives and forks! Had to eat fish with a steak knife! Look a bit further… there are other stunning places to eat…

We've stayed for a few nights in the past and the rooms are excellent. This time were there for a few drinks and sundowner snacks. Views are some of the best in Joburg from the terrace and the drinks are great. Food from the bar couldn't be faulted. Great way to spend a late afternoon and early evening.

We had a conference room booked out for a birthday celebration and I must say the staff was truly world class. We had a great time and the venue was awesome too.

Four seasons hotels USA a step above the rest of the chains. Service better and softer. Quality of food A1 as is service. Super view spot for lunch and dinner if you have the budget. Price 2 steps above the rest. Worth a visit.

Highly cultivated atmosphere with a distinguished air of modern affluence. Hotel beautifully terraced into the hillside with spectacular city views from rooms, restaurant and patios.

This is an elegant hotel. It has incredible views of the zoo and surrounds. The staff are efficient and friendly. There is a health spa and gift shop. Very nice for tourists or weekends away for South Africans. The restaurants are open until late and the food is good. It is close to Rosebank for shopping and the Westcliff steps for walking.

This review is only for the Four Seasons bar, which has spectacular views. Service and drinks were great, would gladly come back again and will stay at the hotel based on my experience and first impressions.

I've been to the Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff a few times in the past and I was very disappointed with the way in which we were treated. We specifically asked in advance for a table alongside the pool and for a birthday to be acknowledged within our party of 3. When we arrived at the hotel reception at the bottom of the hill we were ignored by no fewer than 3 staff members for 10 minutes before I eventually approached a (very unfriendly) staff member and asked for a transfer up to the restaurant. When we got there, we were ignored for another 5 minutes before the front desk staff attended to us. We were not seated by the pool as requested and, although the hostess did acknowledge the birthday when she greeted us, we did not receive a birthday plate — but the table behind us did, so it's not as if they have ceased doing that. Considering the price of the brunch and the fact that I have been here before, I was very disappointed. Your hotel/restaurant competes with the Saxon in price but certainly not in service, and I found it sadly lacking on this special occasion.

Seriously the best view of the city. Perfect for sundowners, romantic night out or even a group date. The menu is on the pricey end of the scale. Definitely need to better the quality of their service, not enough staff for the number of people. Waited far too long for our order and even the bill when we requested it. Scoring a 4 because the view is seriously intoxicating.

The place is very beautiful and posh! Stunning aesthetics and beautiful views. However for a five star hotel you'd expect them to be on their "A" game but had to wait for a table I had reserved for but in the end the guy who served us was great.

Food at the Flame restaurant was awful, really not what I would expect of such a restaurant. The soft shell crab "poke" dish was a poor conceptualised dish that really didn't work and the crab was burnt with hardly any meat. Definitely would not return. Such a pity because the location and view and incredible.

Went for Sunday brunch and left at 15h00 Excellent location, staff, food and ambiance. The pastry chef is a master of his trade!

Stunning setting, amazing views. Great food. We popped in for a lunch and were amazed at the spectacular views. We ordered a platter for two and a bottle of wine. The platter was delivered to the table missing one of the items. We had to call the waiter to query this and were told that they were out of stock so just didn't include it! They clearly hoped we wouldn't notice! At the prices they're charging, I expect good, honest service…

One word… AMAZING. One of the best hotels in Johannesburg with excellent service, great food, luxurious, spectacular views ect. It is rather pricey but worth the spent.

The Flame restaurant offers the best of JHB, where you can see why we are the largest man made forest. Excellent food, great atmosphere. Fine dining so be prepared for the prices. Awesome high teas on Sunday… worth every cent.

Stunning Four Seasons property on a hill with gorgeous views of Joburg. Service was excellent all around. We came in the Spring so could not enjoy the pool but it would've looked over the town. Room was cozy and we received extra special treatment for being on our honeymoon so points for that!

This Hotel really understands the concept of SILVER SERVICE! Besides the excellent service & the delicious food, the views over this part of Johannesburg and the Zoo — are difficult to beat! All of the above, combined with the sophisticated ambience, makes for an exquisite evening under the African Sky! … The big question, that remains to be seen: Will they manage to succeed where almost every other SA hotel has failed — — CONSISTENCY over Time? I really hope they can. Because I really Like this Place:-)

I've been travelling internationally for business the past nine years. This by far stands out as the benchmark for all other stays I've had before and after. The service without a doubt is five stars. The rooms are simply amazing and the dining options where wonderful. I couldn't say enough nice things about this hotel and can only hope to return in the future.

Went for a birthday celebration for a party of 8 and turned out to be a complete nightmare. We had the worst experience of our lifetime on a birthday or perhaps ever. The birthday man got drunk, thrown out, and HANDCUFFED by the SECURITY HIRED BY FOUR SEASONS (NOT the POLICE), by the REQUEST OF THE MANAGEMENT of the hotel. A friend who is sober and trying to resolve the issue also got HANDCUFFED and thrown to a back of a security car, and they were under the instruction by the senior management to not let us leave, because they were trying to make us compensate for the other guests who were upset about the drunk behaviours at the restaurant. A really drunk friend of us, threw a succulent plant on the floor (not the pot, just the plant itself), and broke 2 — 3 glasses unintentionally, and fell on the floor. We were truly sorry about the disturbance caused to other guests, so when the hotel ask us to leave the restaurant minutes after the crazy behaviour began, we obliged and paid for the bill, and left a R800 tip for the damaged glasses and plant. We ordered a lot of alcohol in a short period of time (only 4 people were really drinking. Two ladies did not even ask for wine glasses), no where in between, the hotel tried to slow down the pace, they just brought bottles after bottles. The server didn't even bother to clean the table. It was scattered with whiskey glasses and cocktail glasses that are long finished.

What a view. Love the Westcliff's view. A cold bottle of Sauvignon and a light lunch and last Wednesday was perfect.

Slow and food suprisingly bad.

This is most certainly without a doubt the best boutique hotel in South Africa! It's luxury in the city of Johannesburg with a breathtaking view overt the Johannesburg zoo. The service is excellent. The food is to die for! Love the Westcliff Hotel.
