Beautiful Free-state setting with lovely ambience and the Tie collection is amazing in the pub and food delicious and staff and host so hospitable — a real gem to find for the weary off the long road.

The staff is SO friendly and their service is AMAZING. Their food is out of this world, a true pleasure to visit them. I would recommend them 200% to everyone. Well done guys👌🏻🤗

What a wonderful place to experience the best the Free State and SA have to offer. Best ever food, from fine dining to lunch with, I am sure, more than 100 most amazing dishes. Great spa. Real farm experience in total luxury!

We were there for the weekend from 4-6 February 2022. We had a lovely stay. The food was spectacular and the all the staff from the establishment was so friendly and welcoming. The Spa experience was definitely one for the books. We were not just treated with a great massage, we were invited to stay the day and eat, drink and use all the facilities to offer. Thank you very much for a lovely weekend.

Very relaxing 5 star treatment and the staff are very welcoming and warm. The full body massage was nice, calming and relaxing. Special thanks to Simone the therapist for a nice massage and pedicure. A tour through the kraal was more than i.

Very unprofessional. Phone clients a day before to let them know that their spa is being renovated so they cannot accommodate Them. Utterly disappointing and disgusted.

We got engaged at De Oudekraal and it was literally the Best experience ever! The view, the food and the staff blew my hair back. Would not have chosen any other place to share this experience.

The vibe is just superb. I was taken care of as a vegan. Would recommend anytime.

Utter disappointment! I will most definitely not come here and spend money again. We read great reviews on their menu and service. We phoned ahead to hear if they were open, booked a table, arrived and no one at the restaurant were informed of the booking. The table next to us took 30min to be cleared (flies everywhere). Drinks were the slowest I have ever seen arriving, the poor waiter kept apologising as she normally works in reception and the owners said everyone else could go on leave but they kept the restaurant open! What madness? Sounds a bit greedy. What poor quality from a place that likes to blow their own horn. It will take more than one excellent meal to redeem them in my mind. To all travellers looking to stop, move along. I suggest they seriously rethink the puffery and start with the basics of running a restaurant. Today you as owners and managers failed your staff miserably. If you want to run a restaurant, run it, your apathy is not helping me — the hungry customer. Especially after lockdown where the wealth of other restaurants are fighting tooth and nail to survive. Gerhard and Marie, perhaps refocus on the management of your restaurant, as you seem to have lost it.

Juluis and Ishmael specifically was good to us and no staff member ever oversee any request if we asked for anything… At no charge at no effort it was delivered. We had the most incredible experience at their beautiful establishment last Saturday evening. We were traveling from Plettenbergbay to Johannesburg and chose to stay here for the second time. Without a doubt one of the favorite place I stayed in Free State. Upon arrival I was warmly welcomed by the staff and general manager. The staff is extremely friendly the restaurant deserves a special thanks. I had two great evenings there, which obviously also added up to the experience. The atmosphere is so special that it really felt like home to me. All the respect to the owners who does a great job there, a true example of excellent hospitality.

We had a lovely stay in the self-catering accommodation. We were traveling with a dog and the staff were incredibly accommodating to her… including some special biltong treats when we arrived! The rooms are lovely and a great fireplace keeps you warm. The breakfast buffet is absolutely delicious and included in the cost of the self catering accommodation.

Let me start with the negatives first. Firstly the long dirt road on the way to De Oude Kraal is a bit of nightmare on any car that's not a 4x4 (municipality that's on you). Secondly it would have been nice if the al carte would stay open for longer to offer more options for supper. That being said, none of these actually spoiled what was an absolutely AMAZING experience. The staff was great, the room was beautiful so was the entire farm, the food to die for. The luxuy room we stayed at had quite literally everything you could ask for. The gourmet 5 course meal was simply heaven in the mouth served by an amazing team of people. The spa, beautiful atmosphere awesome facilities great massage and that light lunch was a full meal. All in all De Oude Kraal is one of the best weekends away you could ever have 5 stars without a doubt on my end.

If I had to pick my last meal on earth… I would pick an Oude Kraal lunch everytime all the time! Without a doubt the best food I’ve ever tasted, everytime! Beautiful location and friendly service everytime too.

Wonderful country break away a short drive from Bloemfontein. The amazing 5 course fine dining dinner with candle light, soft music in the background and then returning to your room with a fire crackling in the fire place, Jacuzzi bath and a bottle of wine created the perfect romantic setting for a quick winter break away from the city (and cold).

Advetised as Wi-Fi but this not available at all in rooms only main reception where dinner was. Booked twin share and had only one large bed. Had to drive back to reception then wait 2 hours to be fixed, even though it was confirmed as such at booking. Rooms were very twee and not a rural retreat experience at. Rooms next to each other could constantly hear children screaming and dogs roaming around. The only positive was the exceptional 5 course meal. My advice don’t stay just go for dinner.

Booked a spa treatment here with my fiancee. Had a bit of a tough time with the dirt roads leading up to the place but found it easily. Facilities are great, the grounds are beautifully maintained. There were many impressive arrangements for dining offered at the main building and the spa was great. Friendly staff who were always ready to help and give a tour of the facilities.

What a great day at De Oude Kraal today. As a chef I can say Marie and her team deserve a massive compliment for all the hard work put behind in the kitchen. On the Sunday buffet they have more than 5 type of homemade breads 4 different soups many options come to salads and appetizers. For main course the options was amazing, and hard to choose which one to try first. Great value for money, best I have tried in Free State so far… Keep the good work…

From the moment you arrive at De Oude Kraal, you are made to feel special. Everybody knows you by name and is always there to cater to your every need.
We started off our 1 night escape by spending the afternoon at the Deli. Absolutely DELICIOUS food and refreshing craft beers on tap
We then went to our room. We were first offered some complimentary afternoon cake and coffee. What a lovely touch! We then retreated to our room, room 4, and we were blown away! So much attention to detail and everything in the room is there to make your experience more comfortable, relaxing and out right magical. The fireplace in the room creates the perfect romantic atmosphere
We decided not to do the dinner as we had a late lunch, but went to the bar for a night cap. We were greeted with friendly smiles and excellent service.
After returning to our room, we found something sweet and a small note on our pillows wishing us a good night's rest and reminding us of the breakfast times. These personal touches make all the difference!
After enjoying a jacuzzi Spa bath, we enjoyed a wonderful night's rest next to our crackling fire.
This morning we were spoilt for choice with a delicious buffet breakfast and amazing coffee.
I would recommend a stay at De Oude Kraal to anybody. It truly is the most incredible experience. I would also like to add that this was a prize that I won. Most other places treat you differently if you did not pay.
