Having recently returned from a truly awesome stay at The Courtyard Rooms, Cafe & Bakery I would recommend it to everybody visiting this truly beautiful part of South Africa. Our room was awesome, well equipped to meet all our needs and more. We had a 7 night stay and will Definately return to this lovely establishment. The food was delicious and well presented in both the Cafe and the Bakery. The service first class and the owners Jane & Martin really lovely people. Not being given needed cutlery for my takeaway was uncalled for. Guess what. Nobody bothered to apologise and it looked intentional. I mean who uses their fingers on omelette. Mxm.

It's really a beautiful, serene, modern setting. Excellent & friendly waitering services… The bakery… Oh my blinking floppy hat … The homemade bread … To 'die for'… The highlight was to meet and interact with the Owner JANE… What a lovely Businesswoman… Went out her way, the details not important … To assist us with alternate accommodation when we were let down on the Spur of the moment… … This lady literally went the very extra mile and did herself short to assist us as a family… Recommended? Definitely.

Excellent home cooked meal on Thursdays served. Very affordable. Service & friendliness of waitrons much appreciated! Presentation & all other meals & drinks lovely & most enjoyable.

Omg! The croissants! And we had the waffle and savory mince. Definitely a recommendation. And the quick efficiency and friendliness of the staff made it all the better.

Nice & close to centre of town for. Easy access, for lockup parking etc Secure clean Accommodation, Wi-Fi, DStv. Beautiful scenery. Beautiful Clean town.

The Courtyard is a beautiful bakery and restaurant in Clarens run by Martin and Jane offering delicious baked goods with heart and soul. The doughnuts come highly recommended as well as the buffet on a Sunday which is very very good value for money. Just remember to book in advance as it fills up quickly. The dessert table at the buffet is something to behold. Their takeaway pies are handbaked in house and I especially enjoyed their beef pies. Highly recommended.

Food was great but the service left a very bad taste. Had to beg for our bill, after we didn't get it went to the bar asked for it, got it, sat down. Then expected to pay not too long after. Waited 5 mins, went back to the bar and paid. They expect you to do everything besides cook the food.

The best fresh food and taste for me. The Sunday Buvet the best ever, not expensive like Gauteng.

Everything is nice, I will recommend this place. But their hours is just to short. In the afternoon a person wants to buy bread and drink some of their nice drinks.

Lovely place to sit outside and enjoy breakfast or brunch. Good food at decent prices, and great coffee. However, service was slow, and we did have to go inside to ask for the card machine to pay our bill.

A very neat bakery where you can have a good breakfast or meal. Very well prepared and presented to the customer. The waiters are very friendly and efficient. The bakery is very well known and popular by visitors to to the town and also tourists from abroad. Definitely a restaurant that must be visited when visiting the beautiful town of Clarens. Enjoy your meal at a very pleasant environment.

Same vib as any other Keg. Nothing new and exciting. Food is familiar, nothing to write home about or that stand out. Pricing a bit more expensive to surrounding steak houses and grills.

Very good food. The home made pies were especially good. The service was not the best but could be due to it being Monday!

Excellent breakfast and lunch menu! Really fast service, even with big crowds, which is a big plus. Seating is limited though, and they don't open in the evenings. The attached bakery has great freshly baked food, stop by on your way out to stock up for later. And their pies have a great filling to crust ratio, so try them too.

The bakery offers a small selection of biscuits, breads and other freshly baked goods. The restaurant is well serviced, clean and has a fresh and open feel. It opens onto the main street and is a great place to catch a quick meal. This certainly is one of the better cafes in the area.

We had a superb Christmas eve Dinner here last night with good friends! Every mouthful was enjoyed by all. The decorations were sooo pretty too. Thank you Jane, Martin & staff for making this evening so great! Merry Christmas.

Open airy restaurant with a bakery on the premises. Great food and friendly staff. The Sunday buffets are also very popular. Indoor as well as outdoor tables available situated at the square in Clarens.

Really fantastic food at incredibly good prices. I was a little put off by the plasticky decor and sign, but very glad we chose this spot. Had soup, lovely fish and chips and salad (at only r60 odd), quiche and lemon meringue. The menu is nice and extensive but the baked goods are what really make this place. Pick up some perfect scones, quiches, samosas at the bakery next door on your way out.

Great place, food is great and beers are cheap. Great value for money.

Lovely place, excellent food and the Deli is superb. Just a shame they were under staffed the day we were there. But it is a must IMO.

Usually very good coffee, excellent breakfast and cakes. Tends go get very busy over weekends, buffet lunch on Sundays (must book).

Lovely cakes and pastries here. Really enjoyed the homemade pies. Good service. Stopped here on the way back from Lesotho to Jhb. We enjoyed the stopover here. Recommend this place.

First time here. Luckily the food made up for the terrible service. Had to get our own menu's after not being attended to for quite a while after arrival. Got the wrong drinks order. Saw at least three other people complain about the service in the hour we were here. No one attending the door. Only one card machine, so you queue to pay. Seems like a burden to work here, as I failed to see a smile on any of the four waiters' faces at any table. Such a pity for a nice looking place.

Close to all the activities in Clarens. We enjoyed our stay at The Courtyard. The accommodation is very good!

We were a group of 10 and wanted to go have breakfast. Some of us wandered in to the restaurant as we knew people so when we asked the waiter for a table he was totally arrogant and sarcastic saying 'let me just go check what the sign says' — 'oh the sign says please wait to be seated! ' We walked in as there was numerous tables open! Secondly when we asked of we could join 2 tables together to accomodate our group the manageres refused! After our friends said we could take… their table as they were almost done the manageres told us arrogantly that our food will be very long as the rest of the restourant tablea will be accomodates first before oir group will be attended to. She really needs an attitude change! I am amazed this place is still open! We went to sugar and Cinnamon afterwards and it was a heaven and earth difference! That manageres needs to get out of there as her terrible attitude is rubbing of on her waiters and I can gautentee you that more than half of the clienta had a negative experience.

So unwilling to accommodate a table of 13. Ended up sitting at 2 different tables. One outside in the cold. When another customer in true SA style invited us inside to join their table, as most at their table had left, we were reprimanded like naughty children by who we were told is the owner. With not a lot to choose from in such a small town, I don't think the owner cares if she is rude to customers. Take it or leave it attitude. Well done eggs came soft. A side salad comes as a garnish. I must however point out… Our waiter was lovely! But all in all… Such a bad experience.
