Wonderful location, service was terible between the worst places we have stayed. Main server in the nearby restaurant that belongs to this hotel was very rude and spoke to us with such an attitude, unbelievable. Staff is not very knowledgeable and pretty much not very helpful. We wanted to try their dinner buffet came 30minutes before closing time and we were told there was not much food left on the buffet and we will be better off to eat at the bar area! What a seller. No concierge like I said this place doesn't know what customer service is.

Fab hotel … best wellness ever. Was there for 3 nights… and I will return for sure… love this place ❤❤❤

It's a little expensive, but I think it's worth it. Highlights: spa, lake and breakfast.

1 — Very Old Hotel In Terms Of Furniture & Building Gives You Feeling Of Non Hygiene Environment. 2 — Heat Containing Rooms Not Suitable For Summer Stay, Can Provide Fans To Create Some Cooling Inside The Rooms Or Airconditions. 3 — Old TV Does Not Support Smart Option Which Can Be Entertaining During Night Life.

The rooms given was so small and old. The breakfast service is poor. No english for spa area, I dont recommend this hotel to English speaking people, further spa is small with respect to the posted pictures. the pictures of the room only for those renovated.

This hotel was very luxurious. It had a spa, swimming pool, amazing view, it had everything. The breakfast was all ok. I totally recommend this hotel!

Nice hotel. Delicious breakfast and dinner. Very nice staff. Own parking, which is often overcrowded and needs to be paid extra. Rooms without a balcony to the parking lot are very noisy, as there is a small beer garden next to the main entrance.

Nice hotel with a great spa center. Comfortable rooms, wired internet. Wi-Fi at high load (if a lot of people at the same time connected) works incorrectly, more precisely just does not work.

Wonderful hotel in a wonderful location. I didn't find any shortcomings. The rooms are cleaned daily with towels replaced. The staff is friendly, the food is delicious.

Pleasant surprise. Former socialistic hotel that now offers really good wellness centre, rich offer of delicious food (breakfast is really grandious) and the spectacular position directly on the bank of the lake that is super if you are a runner (tourist, walker, …). The rooms are getting done-up so you can find different categories, but even the old rooms are decent. And they accept dogs! (in old rooms). I plan to return.

There are two waitresses in the lobby bar who behave very unprofessionally. One of them is young with a tattoo and the second is aged. Rude and ill-bred. Not a single smile at all. The Slovaks are lizhat ass. Plus in the hotel very often pass all sorts of seminars and congresses, there is a certain discomfort.
In general, the hotel left a pleasant vpechitlenie.

We didn't have room with a beautiful view everything was booked. We booked the dinner for the first night in hotel and it was completely unacceptable, old food, cold and really reduced options, forget vegetarian or vegan although the breakfast was really good. Generally the staff don't speak English. Clean rooms and cozy.

I have been to this hotel many times, but I have not been to the last 10 years. The whole affair can be viewed very ambivalently; It is not so easy to find a fair assessment.
First of all, it must be stressed that this hotel is located in the Slovak Carpathian Mountains and not anywhere in the Alps. Not everything is at the west level; I liked that, but not everyone will like it. In the period after 1989 it happened that some dishes were not available on the map or there were other things. While that hasn't happened again over the years, the West standard, which was apparently sought to be achieved, has never been met (and so have other hotels in the region, such as the Grandhotel in Stary Smokovec). The effort even seemed somehow embarrassing at times. There were 100 employees at breakfast, but they struggled to ensure the process. Overall, though, it made you feel like you were far away and it never bothered me.
I was, on the other hand, disturbed by the enormous price explosion. Back then bookable for 260 DM HP per week, the price is now somewhere at €350. That would still be perfectly fine, but the prices for food and drinks at the bar don't go at all. Judging by the distance (coming from the Ruhr area) this is not worth it, the Alps are not more expensive and it is not that far. Those who like to ski are also in better hands in the Alps. The slopes and slopes are all facing the south side and nature conservation has no overarching ski areas.

How can I give six stars? Amazing location and views in all directions. They just finished a massive renovation and everything is new. Off-the-charts spa with a swimming pool, kids pool, plus a pool-sized, two-level jacuzzi with dozens of pulsating jets, multiple private saunas, multiple bars, plus stuff I have yet to use like a bowling alley. The local staff-members are easy on the eyes and ears. In the rooms you'll find bathrobes and slippers so you can lounge around the building in comfort (and everyone does). A few steps around the spectacular mountain lake is a restaurant with all kinds of local dishes (I had deer goulash). It's kind of far to travel if you're in USA but if you want to impress your date, wow this place will do it big time; would be a great honeymoon too. Yes the English is less available than over the border in Poland, but so what. Learn a few phrases and bring Google translate. I wish I could stay here forever and I can't wait to come back.

Stuff doesn't speak English. The fact that this hotel has 4 stars is a joke. Although the view is amazing.

Nice clean room and a beautiful view, but very poor Wi-Fi connection and shower water was not hot. Also to eat I would recommend to go to another place — me and my fiance tried to get a dinner at the hotel restaurant, but we ended up sitting there hungry and unnoticed for like half an hour (the restaurant was not full) until we decided to go elsewhere. Otherwise, the hotel staff was kind and helpful, we had no problem to find free parking and the location of the hotel is perfect if you came there to hike.

Ideally situated, excellent facilities, good food and unobtrusive service what's not to like?
I went with my wife, our daughter, her husband and our two granddaughters, we all thoroughly our stay and will definitely be back.

Situated in a really nice location Hotel Patria proposes an incredibly good kitchen that serves traditional Slovak dishes as well as international ones. The breakfast presents a wide choice able to satisfy different tastes. The staff is really friendly and careful about the guests needs. The spa as well as the underground pub represent a pleasant complement to your relaxing stay in the mountains.

This is the hotel we stop at each time we are in Strbske pleso. We eat good meal in lobby restaurant and then you can go for a trip or for a walk around the pleso.

We, a family of 5 with kids ranging from 7 to 14 years — stayed at the Hotel Patria for three nights. Our overall impression was disappointment considering the price paid. It's a big hotel, part of the high-density development of this region in the 70's when choice and standards of service were different. Parts of this hotel are trapped in that time. We came across some very helpful staff, but the overriding impression was one of an inflexible management delivering a standard service. If it were not for some large tour companies propping this place up with there bus loads of package tourists, I doubt this place would survive. The spa and pool are good, so if you highly value these hotel features, you might find this more value for money than we did. But in comparison to some of the smaller establishments in less tourist-overrun places the Patria did not deliver on customer service or value for money. The comfort level (excluding spa) was similar to three star hotels in the US. It reminded me of an Embassy Suites hotel I stayed in recently — certainly no better, and certainly no cheaper.

Firstly, when we came to the hotel and asked the receptionist where are the toilets he answered with a question whether we are "consumers". So he basicaly suggested to us that we look like homeless. Secondly, the waitress did not greet us (nor did anybody). The waitress could speak English but she just did not. I am a Slovak, but she just left my boyfriend from Southern Africa aside and spoke Slovak all the time. The food and place was nice enough but I for sure the attitude of the stuff is just horrible and spoiled the whole dinner. Fourthly, we were waiting for someone to ask for a bill so long we went directly to the bar to ask for it. Fiftly and worst of all the waitress did not ask whether we would pay separate or altogether. This made out lives more complicated obviously. As a final surprise she angrily remined me that we were supposed to tell her we want to pay separately. It is not about the form, but about natural kindness. We both live in Czech Republic and here even in the most forgotten and hidden pub they are simply friendly. Thats all. That is the basic problem of Slovakian serivce in general. They are either rude or unprofessional. Or both (as in this case).
