Tama Lodge

Simply put in one line — this is in excellent place to stay.
Location — on M'Bour beach. Beautiful sunsets! The towns of Saly and MBour are pretty much a continuation of each other. Saly has more of a touristy scene.
The architecture of the Lodge is pretty cool, almost reminiscent of the desert town architecture you see in north and west Africa. There's space to park your car along the property wall.
The hotel's exterior space is mostly all beach sand with shade from multiple coconut trees. Beach chairs are already laid out.
I had a beach facing cabin. The room was neat, clean and had a comfortable bed. With mosquito netting. Lovely bathroom with good locally produced shampoo/soaps.
The decor is all reminiscent of the region — and done elegantly.
The restaurant serves excellent food. There is a standard menu ofcourse. On top of that you can pre-order things like oysters, lobster etc. This has to be done by late afternoon I think (I did my pre-ordering of Lobster in the morning) because it will then be procured from the fishermen as they come back with the catch.
The highlight for me is the staff. All atleast bilingual (French & Wolof or another primary language). And I had no trouble with my English and broken French. Pelaji (who also speaks excellent English) and Famara who were at the property in the evenings were simply excellent! Friendly and super helpful. The owner/manager Anne, herself a polyglot, also was on site and quite helpful with information I needed.

Beautiful, stylish and cosy lodge right in front of the sea. Well managed and maintained. Relaxing sand garden where waves sound and palm trees around you will make you feel…very good. Not the best beach in Petit Cote but very close to more walkable Sally beach. Not giving 5 stars because restaurant can be improved.

We are just back from 11 days staying at this absolute gem! Tama lodge is paradise. The staff cannot do enough for you, it's immaculately clean, we were concerned about eating there for every meal, we didn't need to worry, I'm a vegetarian and my husband is a pescatarian and in the 11 days we ate a different meal each time and they were all delicious. We highly recommend the trip to the fish market and to watch the boats coming in with their haul. Our guide Omar was fabulous and walked us around through the village for a good couple of hours, it was very interesting and we felt very comfortable. The Senegalese are lovely happy people and of course they offer their handmade goods but they are not pushy at all. The beach directly in front of Tama Lodge is often filled with young people practicing wrestling, football or just swimming and playing it's a lovely happy family atmosphere. We would recommend organising a taxi via the manager from the airport to the lodge, we used booking. Com and had a terrible experience, going back to the airport the staff organised a driver for us who was punctual, an excellent driver and a very pleasant chap. French is the predominant language and English is not really used much, however the staff were able to translate the menu each day and it was quite fun using 'sign language' and Google translate elsewhere.
We cannot recommend Tama Lodge enough, we are already in the process of booking our next visit 😊

Wonderful stay! The staff extremely welcoming and there to make sure you have everything you need. The attention to detail including the rooms and the tasteful decor, simply beautiful. The meals were delicious and well presented. You are right on the beach and can hear the waves at night. Property is well maintained, solid Wi-Fi signal, no complaints. Would highly recommend and we would absolutely stay again. Great place to relax and recharge.

I ve been here before the covid thing. Rooms directly on the beach. You will have breakfast with your feet in the sand among beautiful palm trees. Rooms are typically furnished in african style with wood and ropes and all in natural material.

Beautiful property.

Beautiful setting and very nice staff, a pity given the current situation sweats it be so quiet.

C the best place for this quiet rests with its really beautiful beach close to the local c cool.

Very expensive. The house is cute, but in a Cabinet no parts to wear full-length, rooms have no refrigerators, and the water is sold and is not available in the room. Tea, coffee only in the restaurant. Breakfast delicious jams, yogurt, coffee and bread and butter somehow salty. For lunch and dinner choice of two meals. Slow service, forgotten order, write errors, the sea is beautiful, but in January cool, about 22-23 degrees.

We spent 4 nights at the Tama Lodge and it was wonderful. Lovely room, right by the sea, and very calm hotel, with few rooms and excellent service. Great place for resting by the sea! Well located for day-trips and excursions, but you probably will just want to stay there!

Feet in the water for a little rest. Change your tune.
