Orator Hotel Samoa

Our family had Father's Day to'ona'i at the Orator Hotel today. Their Sunday buffet was wonderful. Excellent variety of foods, lovely atmosphere and, great service. It was very nice to meet the Chan Mow family again after all these years. Beautiful hotel. Malo lava to your beautiful aiga! All the best for rest of 2025. I'll be back. Faafetai, Landie.

Lovely individual fale inspired rooms. Plenty of space. Very quiet. Kids loved the pools. Very tasty Sunday to'ona'i with large selection of traditional and modern Samoan foods.

We had a family group stay, the fales were lovely and clean, the staff were great. The kiddies enjoyed the pools, On the Sunday we enjoyed the popular To'onai lunch. It was nice and quiet at night time. We really enjoyed a song from the staff as we left. We will be back!

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay there. Everyone was lovely, especially Iva and Melita, and it is so quiet. Receptionists were also so lovely. Although going through renovations they still did so well keeping the customer service up. Would definitely be back again soon xx.

The hotel was great for us overall, though it could use a bit of a refresh as it’s starting to feel a little dated. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the swimming pool, conveniently located right outside our villa, was a highlight of our stay. This hotel was truly amazing when it first opened, and we would love to see it restored with some updates to bring it back to its full potential.

Now that we have returned home, on behalf of my family I wanted to thank you and your staff for making our stay with Orator Hotel such an enjoyable and peaceful experience.
I come from well over 30 years in the customer service industry and during our stay, we noticed that your staff only displayed warm friendly smiles at all times, showed a willingness to always assist us with our luggage, directions of around the hotel, to answering any queries we had. The breakfast was always delicious, empty used plates were never left on our table for more than a few seconds, the breakfast staff were always so lovely and approachable.
The establisment itself is certainly a place that gives a deep feeling of serenity and peacefulness, specifically the reception foyer was always kept clean and in order, the location of the hotel was and is perfect and safe for those who like ourselves, prefer to avoid the hustle and bustle of the township whilst still only a 5-8 minute drive away from the hub.
The villa we were allocated was huge and beautiful with a great size bathroom and shower. We appreciated the cupboard and luggage storage, allowing us to still enjoy the full extent of the villa.
We brought our 86 year old mom one day to have a look at the hotel and she just fell in love with the place. She managed to walk to our villa, having 4 breath stops on the way. Her amazement at the beauty of the hotel far outweighed any gripes she may have had of the distance.

We booked 3 rooms, 1 room you could tell was recently upgraded, the other two were not. That being said, all rooms were clean and comfortable. The property is lovely, but what made our stay memorable were the friendly and helpful staff. Anna and Aiga, and a young man who all worked the front desk were friendly and helpful.
When we visit we like to stay at locally owned and operated hotels, and this one was great. We did have Sunday Brunch — and it is supposed to be to be a buffet — unfortunately many of the main dishes did run out very quickly. Food was delicious, but we were disappointed that after only being open for about an hour, we had just got there and many of the dishes were already empty.
Would definitely stay here again.
Hopefully next time the lovely gift shop will open.

Great food. Every morning we had breakfast. Their famous Sunday Toona'i was awesome. So many options to pick from. Staff was very friendly. If you're looking for a private place away from Apia with all the hustle and bustle this is the place to be.

Honestly this resort could've been a lot better.
I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and just say I came at a bad time when the resort was under a lot of construction.
But right when we walked in, we were greeted with a cool face towel and a lemonade drink for the heat, they had even checked us in early (we arrived 3-4 hours early) and upgraded us to the poolside room which was lovely. The front desk ladies were very helpful & polite. Only con was that they didn't have cash registers and I had to wait almost 2 days for my change, because someone with the key to the money lockbox had left for the day.
Unfortunately one of the pools they had were half empty and green and filled with garbage along with debris and planks of wood lying around next to the pool which was honestly gross. The 2 pools that were actually working looked like they hadn't been cleaned or filtered in a while, regardless there were still people swimming in it which was concerning.
The actual wooden planks and floorboards that we walked across to get to our rooms were flimsy, rotten and honestly ready to break. There were actually a couple spots like this in the floor that are bound to cave in sooner or later.
Orator's Sunday toonai feast I must say, is honestly the best toonai buffet I've had in samoa and I've had quite a few. A lovely range of both savoury and sweet options for lunch.
But the room service food we had was honestly bland and way too overpriced for the quality that it was.

Lovely, hard-working staff, but the place was very run down. It is a shame as the place has so much potential and could be truly beautiful. Unfortunately, our experience was marred by several issues:
The rooms were not very clean at all. The doors were dirty, and under the beds, there was so much dust it was disgusting. Many of our group got bed bug bites.
Despite being promised hot water, there was none in our room for the entire eight days of our stay. We mentioned this to the staff, but nothing changed.
We heard rats running around in our roof every night, and in general, the place was just dirty.
One thing that was okay was the food which was quite good. I purchased a fizzy drink from the bar at one stage that tasted horrible and then I noticed that it was 6 months expired. I told them about this and asked if I could have a new one but all of the other drinks of this type were expired also.
I felt sorry for the poor staff as they worked very hard and had to take all of the complaints, which were not their fault. It was the owners who obviously were not maintaining the facility well. Every time we asked for something, the staff had to ask their boss if it was okay, even if it was something as small as a bath towel. We even had to ask for the pool to be cleaned as it was not clean at all. One part of the pool was disgusting and by the looks of it hadn't been repaired in over 5 years.
We were also concerned about safety:
The decking was bumpy and nearly rotting.

My family booked the hotel hall and catering for our father’s 80th birthday — Charlotte and her staff made everything a breeze to arrange and organize with her. They made us feel like priority and VIP guests. The catering! Oh, the buffet was AMAZING! The menu was delicious and cooked to perfection! They served our event for us and stood by for our different instructions. They were quick to set up the venue and quick to clean up also. They also connected us with a great local dj for a great price and he kept the right vibe the entire afternoon. The facilities were great and we got a great deal for a villa as a day room during the birthday. We are so thankful to Charlotte and the Orator staff for a special and precious core memory. This is definitely my choice of events venue in Samoa.

Our 2nd time at the Orator (May 2024. However it was not as good as the 1st. Had a mouse in our room and took a couple of hours to address this matter (very disappointed as we had 3 young kids not safe at all). On Thursday 23/5/24 I called Reception 5.30 — 6am about the mouse I found in our room. Ola (works there) was ready to capture it but I told him it would take more than 1 person to get it please advise someone asap for this to be dealt with as my kids were here and asleep. Later that morning the manager (Aiga) said she had never seen a mouse but the 3 service ladies went out of their way to kill it. The service lady and I found the mouse under our bed later that day I informed the ladies there's more as we heard them on the roof. They fumigated early hours in the morning Thursday but we found the mouse that day alive and running around. Melita, Ola and Moniu (workers at the orator were sooo professional, helpful, kind, patient). They catered to the kids needs and tried their best for a comfortable stay. Villa are nice as always but soooo many cockroaches found in the showers. Kids were scared to find them there all the time. Had to buy our own fly spray to keep them from coming from somewhere in the villa. Overall stay good. Need to make sure fumigation is successful and no mice. Not addressing the issue in a timely matter was a huge downfall… Thank you again Melita, Ola and Moniu for making our stay comfortable and somewhat bearable. 10 stars for your service.

Quite easily one of the best hotels I have ever been in. They are helpful. The location is a little away from the city but they make up for it with good food and amazing ambience. It's tucked away in a paradise of sorts and their staff is their biggest asset.

We stayed here for work. The staff were awesome very friendly and inviting. Location is good. Top Pool is still under construction but you’re still able to swim in the bottom pool which takes the edge off the heat. The rooms have aircon and this is also a welcome relief after a long hot day.
The damper on the trip was that on the last morning we were there I left my room unlocked while I went to breakfast and had cash taken out of a zipped up pocket in my bag and out of my wallet. If you stay here ensure you lock your room and take any money or belongings you intend to keep with you…. Even if going for a swim or to breakfast. I wasn’t able to bring this up with staff as it happened the morning we flew out and I didn’t realise until at the airport. Really disappointing and put a sad feeling on a week long work trip.

Stayed here for just short of two months so became a home from home. They staff were all very kind and accomodating. They’d been working on some renovations including redoing the pools and managed to finish two of the three pools for the last couple weeks of our stay. There’s a large variation in room styles, the pool view rooms have more of a rustic feel whilst the rooms behind in the jungle alley feel more modern due to the tilings whilst there are larger family villas towards the top of the hotel grounds. The hot water can be a bit unpredictable if everyone has a shower at the same time but for the most part it’s fine. There’s a convenient bar with a wide selection of drinks. Overall enjoyed my time there especially the kindness of the staff.
