It is known from history that the Upper pond has an artificial origin. The pond was founded in 1270 in the capital of East Prussia, the city of Königsberg, when knights of the Teutonic Order from the nearby castle "Konigsberg" rattle a earthen dam influx of the Pregel River. The pond was used for fish breeding.
The Upper pond is the second oldest manmade construction of Kaliningrad, preserved until now. Older only the lower pond, created in 1256 year. The oldest surviving building of Kaliningrad, Juditten-Church, was built later, in 1288 year.

Nice place. You can walk or ride on a bike around the lake with beautiful views. You can plant ashore. There are playgrounds.

A good combination of price and quality. Large rooms, stylish interior and discreet. Staff friendly, quickly solves the problem (broken hairdryer). Svoebraznaâ kitchen (home, so offer pre-order meals the next day). Next two restaurants within walking distance. On my own I recommend hotel add shower gel in the bathroom, and more in the cloakroom coat hanger.
