A lovingly restored mansion with carved wooden ceilings down to the smallest detail, valuable furniture from the time of former owner Dr. Manuel Espregueira e Oliveira invites you to linger quietly in the spacious rooms, in the middle of the pedestrian zone of Viana do Castelo. Camellias, hydrangeas, fragrant lemon trees bloom in the manicured garden. In the ground-floor gallery overlooking the garden, art enthusiasts can take drawing lessons with Mr. Cipriano. He knows the history of the house and is competent for all questions, gives tips for day trips and recommended restaurants.
And breakfast: An eye — and a palate!
