Second time here. Good location and easy access to other eateries. Friendly staff all COVID safe. Cocktails in the bar and varied menu.

An islet near to the port area. Nice place well-organized. Price/quality ratio is interesting. January 2020

Excellent hotel in a quiet enclave in Funchal.

This was my 3rd visit & my husbands 1st. We chose the hotel for our honeymoon. We had a fantastic time, enjoyed time at the pool and fantastic meals from the penha restaurant as well as the local restaurants. All the staff are pleasant and helpful. We loved are visit due to it's location & found everybody friendly. My husband loved it that much that he has said we will be going back.

This is our first visit to Madeira and we picked this hotel because of its reasonable distance to the town. Our room in the garden area is good and overlooking the pool and close to reception, restaurant and bar. It is also good to use the other hotel and use the access over the bridge and the lift down to ground level. We found this particularly useful when returning back to hotel rather than climb the steep hill. A word of warning though to other travellers — there is a building site at either end of the complex and they start work at 8.00. Also the church bell acts as an alarm at 8.00. In addition you can hear the engines of the ferry to Porto Santo which also leaves at 8.00!

Nice rooms, very pleasant garden, great breakfast, fantastic location but during our stay July 2018 there were constructions 6 days a week just next to the hotel. This is really sweet, charming hotel but noise really messed up our stay. There was no way to enjoy reading on a balcony or sleeping longer than to 8 am.

Lovely smaller hotel with separate bedrooms, some with little gardens. Nice restaurant, beach access and a good location near the Royal Savoy. Would like to stay here myself. Has parking and staff very friendly.

I had a good time: fresh, with a nice garden, large and spacious rooms, always courteous, attentive and kind staff, ready to respond to my needs. There is also a small pool. The property is dated, but has historical value. It's okay.

Great hotel nestled in a garden, beautiful beachfront pool and great staff service. All clean and located 5 minutes from Ronaldo's museum. Walking for 10 minutes the promenade takes you to the old area with its quaint locals, otherwise you can eat at the hotel or choose just outside the Hotel.

Hotel Quinta da Penha de Frana is located on the western edge of The Old Town of Funchal, which can be reached in no time, either with a nice walk of about twenty minutes along the Marina (going down to the lower level), and with only two stops of Bus. It therefore has the merit of being outside the area that locals call touristy, crowded with large hotels. It consists of two factory bodies, one placed on the highest level, ancient, Portuguese style, the other, more modern, overlooking directly the lower pool and ocean. The Upper Fifth is very romantic, with its old-fashioned rooms, nestled in a lush garden. Good breakfast. Private parking is available. Competitive price.

Had a meal here as the sister hotel to 'Quinta Da Penha De Franca Mar'. Utterly lovely meal. Sat outside in the gardens in a warm November evening. Surprisingly romantic. Food is excellent.

Location very pleasant bungalow in the middle of the flowers and facing the sea… but breakfast to make oneself even with low-end products. Home mediocre damage CA spoil a little stay.

If you estimate the stars without the views from the window, then in my opinion three stars. The restaurant has great tasty portions. Very friendly staff. And the fourth star over the Atlantic under the balcony. I'd like to change the doors.

Hotel immersed in greenery with tips of bananas and sterlizze and many other plants, private swimming pool. Large room with water and breakfast available, towels, soaps, phon, armchairs, large wardrobes. All in all very comfortable.

Everything is fair, the cost and quality of everything corresponds.

I would definitely stay at the hotel. I loved it. Thanks and lively Funchal and the staff nice and full of attentions.

Overall pretty good hotel. The beds were comfty but the rooms smelled of mildew. The breakfast was superb but my only bad experience is the fact that there are a lot of ants in the backyard and I got bit everywhere and Wi-Fi was too slow. Overall, pretty good hotel either way.

We ate here a few times, dinner & 1 lunch, it was superb, food & service fantastic & lots of choice, its quaint & such a pretty setting. The hotel is pretty also, we looked around even though we didn't stay here & according to the guests is fabulous. ☀️ Lovely location & perfect, well worth a visit, or 2 or 3 X.

The bed was extremely uncomfortable and the floor in the room was so noisy when you walk. The breakfast was poor and the poor was not able to swim, truly dirty!

Absolutely adorable. Perfect if you are arriving via ferry too. In a quiet part of town and yet a short walk to town. Beautiful buildings that interconnect and two private, elegant swimming pools. One sadness is that there is a vast hotel being build nearby. Not that this impacts on the Franka it's just a shame this idyllic spot will be dwarfed by this monstrousity.

They reserved a cottage in the garden front pool and sea view: a pleasant surprise. Great Colonial style room including new bathroom and wooden beams roof. Professional and courteous staff. Excellent Breakfast: a 4 star rating that puts you at ease Accogliendoti in the family.

The hotel is close to the centre of Funchal as well as of the old Funchal.
I recommend this hotel which is really very different from all of the structures that can be found.

Bright, friendly and helpful staff, breakfast plentiful. I stayed in the new part but the most interesting part is the "old" a gem surrounded by greenery. Not to be missed for great experience in Funchal from coming back soon.
