Located just over one hour drive from Lisbon and a few minutes from Fátima Sanctuary, one of the most centres of pilgrimage in the world, is the Quinta da Alcaidaria-Mór. Meals are available for guests of the Quinta, upon request and at an extra fee. If you are looking for a genuine warm welcome and a Quinta brimming with charm and history, the Quinta da Alcaidaria-Mór certainly fills the bill. Amazingly, the home has been the same for over 300 years. The original owner was the king's personal physician, and, as thanks of his years of loyal service, the king gave him the property and also a noble title.

Beautiful setting, wonderful host. So much to see in the nearby countryside. Nuno was very helpful, always had great suggestions as to where to go and where to have a great dinner!
I didn't manage to meet the donkeys but I can highly recommend this place for a weekend break away from it all. Thoughtfully restored cottages with a roaring fire / outdoor pool depending on the season as well as bikes, pool table and honesty bar… And a great restaurant down the road in Ourem for dinner. The owner, Nuno was super-helpful and you can tell he has poured his heart and soul into the place. Near Tomar for cakes, convents and the aqueduct!

This estate, with its beauty, peacefulness and history, is a superb B&B. The large manor house has huge bedrooms, furnished with charming antique furniture, and with all the modern conveniences, en suite, to make it the perfect vacation spot. There is lots of land to ramble over and a pool and patio for cooling off and relaxing. The breakfasts, served in a huge, sun-lit dining room decorated with artwork, collections and historical artefacts, were ample and delicious. Nuno is a wonderful host who is very helpful in providing information and suggestions of sites to see and excellent restaurants for dining. His family has owned the estate for centuries and he is quite willing to talk about his very interesting family history with his guests. The estate is located in the countryside, with just a short car ride to the village of Ourem and its fine restaurants, and near the historic town of Fatima. This wonderful estate was the highlight of our vacation in Portugal.
