UNKS HOUSE HOMESTAY

James and his entire staff took good care of us during our entire stay. Everybody was so nice and every one of our requests were handled professionally. I love the free breakfast! These are restaurant-grade meals that are both hearty and filing. The common area is a great place to hang out and relax, well-designed for both utility and aesthetics. The location is also a major factor. It was basically near the places we needed to go to and there is no shortage of interesting food outlets to choose from. Accessible by a short walkway that kept the place quiet — away from the busy main street. The lodging was good for the price. Water pressure was excellent, and the air conditioning units worked well. Overall, I would definitely recommend James' place to anyone wanting to experience Panglao. Unks would be so proud!

I rarely put up reviews during our stay as most of the time, it provides adequate and sufficient need for us. But, our experience with Unks House Homestay is what I will call 'homey'. They provide more than enough of our needs and the owner, Sir James, made us feel like we are part of his family. Me and my partner enjoyed the hospitality, the extra miles, and everything in between. He even offered us to use the comfort room and stay there since our flight is at 10PM — free of charge. We will surely come back with our friends or family. Looking forward to seeing James and Emma in the future again. We are very happy and satisfied. God bless you more with all the goodness you've done to people.

Really enjoyed our stay at Unk's. Emma, James and the rest of the team there are fantastic. Very friendly and helpful. It is walking distance to Alona beach and all the restaurants and nightlife. It is tucked away enough that you stay away from all the noise.
They even helped book all our tours, tricycles and ferry for us.
We are vegetarians and they gave us different breakfast options. Also have free filtered/mineral water for all guests which was really handy.
The best part of the stay was their dog Max. Our daughter really enjoyed playing with him a lot.
The entrance to the area seemed a little bit off when we first arrived as there also friendly locals living in the vicinity but the common area and rooms were really good for what we paid.

We had an incredible stay at Unk's Homestay, thanks to James, Emma, and their amazing team & family!
We stayed for 2 nights and wished we had discovered this gem earlier to enjoy our 5-day trip here. The room was comfortable, with a spotless and well-equipped bathroom, and the bedroom had an AC unit that made our stay even more relaxing.
The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and thoughtful.

Safety was absolutely nonexistent. Every night, we went to bed filled with fear, unable to shake the feeling of being completely unprotected. It was a truly nerve-wracking experience.

The couple are very hospitable hosts. I celebrated Christmas here alone. They had a Christmas eve party that I joined for a fee of P400. The location is convenient, close to Alona beach. I came here for scuba diving, so it's a comfortable place to stay, close to restaurants but not on the highway.
I had a problem with the bidet that they immediately addressed, so that was great. The Roomba was too cold with a thin blanket so that's something they can improve on. But overall, it was a comfortable stay with a low cost (free breakfast).
I will consider staying here again when I come back for another dive.

Good value rooms in quiet, convenient location, decent breakfast, lovely staff, nice common areas to hang out.
Note that you don't have to go through booking agencies, you can contact them directly.
Also, they are easy to find if you ask the tuk tuk to stop at Bar Woo then look for the small street with the sign for Unk's.

Was a bit hard to find first, but actually it is just a plus, that the place is a bit hidden from the busier area but still near enough for anything you need in Panglao. We had 5 fantastic days and would definitely come back again! We really enjoyed everything, our room was great, breakfast also great and all the staff was super nice and welcoming, got really good tips what to see besides the usual things around.

It has been seven years since we first stayed with James and Emma at Unk's House Homestay. There has been a ton of changes since 2017, making the stay even better. The cool AC and private baths are much appreciated. We had a large family gathering and felt like we were at home the entire time. James. Emma and the staff did an amazing job taking care of our needs, from laundry service to dinners for our group of 16. Frankly, the food at Unk's was way better than the local restaurants with much less noise. We highly recommend Unk's for an amazing stay.

We stayed here seven years ago and were excited to come back. With a group of 16 family members Unk's stands out as a great choice. From AC and private baths in every room to the delicious breakfast each morning, you can't go wrong. It's a 10-15 minute walk to the main Alona Beach strip, but easily navigated. Unk's can help set up airport transfers, tours and make other valuable suggestions. Additionally we had Lorena and her team prepare a couple dinners. The food was much better than we experienced at the local restaurants. James, Emma and the team did an amazing job of making us feel at home.

Nice and comfortable homestay located near the beach and restaurants. The owners were welcoming and helpful when organising tours. The breakfast that was included was very tasty.

Stayed here in 2022 Dec with 3 friends from Australia. The owner was so welcoming and generous. One of my friends arrived late in the evening but left his phone in the taxi. We were able to track it down online and the owner dropped everything to drive us out to retrieve it. So so grateful for this incredibly kind service.

The perfect place to stay in panglao, a short walk to the beach and restaurants but you can’t hear any music/noise at night.
The room was spacious and clean, with a comfy bed, space for storage and the first shower with pressure we’ve had in the Philippines so far.
The owners were lovely and we enjoyed the free breakfast even though we missed the first morning after a few too many.
Added bonus is the dogs — max and louie.
Not a bad word to say about Unk’s, excellent value for money aswell, would definitely recommend.

James & Emma are incredible hosts! They really tried their best to make us feel like home and help in anything that was needed! Great communication from the very beginning, you can rely on them 100%.
The room is perfect taking in to account the money you paid for it! Bed really comfy, big, has plenty of storage and space for your stuff. Also you have air-con, TV and good wiffi, something rare in Panglao. The only improvement that we could suggest it's better shower. But again, that's not a resort, so if you are not looking for a 5⭐️ hotel, you will be fine. Comparing to other places that we stayed, we wanted to be back at UNK'S HOUSE HOMESTAY immediately!
Breakfast and bar food. We can't say thank you enough! Food it's delicious! Specially noodles! They introduced us to Philipino kitchen! And was mind blowing! We fell in love with it! 😍
Also, they organise tours, transport and activities for you! Believe in their suggestions! James told us to go to "Raja Sikatuna National Park", and was the best thing we did in Bohol!
Extra information: you will find Alona beach just 10min walk and restaurants are just around the corner!

Unk’s is the perfect place to stay in Bohol. It’s a great quiet homestay close to the beach & all the restaurants & bars. Emma & James we’re the perfect hosts & have created a real family feel to the property. They were so kind providing us with packed lunches when we went on our snorkeling tour & gave us the best advice on places to check out in the area & even further afield in the Philippines. You can book all your tours here also & the guys will help with scooter rental etc. Can’t recommend Unk’s highly enough 10/10.5⭐️

Owners are friendly and helpful, options for tours, laundry, discounted massage are offered. Breakfast is simple but free and high quality, with their live-in chef! Rooms are clean and tidy as is the bathroom (shared). Only 10 mins walk to the main strip and beach. For the owners: the toilet seat was broken.
