To be honest I booked this on booking. Com & thought it was advertised a bit differently. The room was ok but very dark & a bit run down.
The pool was an absolute highlight as it was lovely & the outdoor seating area.
Also very kind that they clean the rooms and replace towels daily. With free tea, coffee and water.
Location — need a bike / Tuk Tuk/ tricycle if you are hoping to go into town as unfortunately there are a lot of dogs around which I didn’t feel particularly safe walking past. A very dark 20 minute walk into town.
We left a 500 deposit at the req of the lady on reception — when it came to recollecting that, she had forgotten. I found this strange considering if must be there usual protocol? This left a bad taste in my mouth, as because I was so sure of myself she then gave it back… so make of that what you will.
I travel a lot in the Philippines and am always looking out for budget friendly places to stay. It is hardly a 5 star resort, but Softstone Resort is a bit of a gem in my opinion. The grounds are clean, the location is great and the rooms are spacious.
The bed is basic, 6 inch foam with bedding. Some people might not like it but I don't mind it. The room furnishings are basic, plastic chairs and a simple rack to hang your clothes.
Our shower didn't work properly at first, but I reported it to the front desk and it was repaired immediately.
The most impressive feature of this humble resort has to be the garden pool. My favorite spot was the mini pool with the bench and table. I loved having my morning coffee or afternoon beer there, soaking in the cool fresh water. The outside space is enhanced with lush vegetation. Poolside tables outside each room provide additional seating in a nice space.
The resort is also well situated. It was a short scooter ride to Hinagdanan Cave and Alona Beach. Also, the restaurant next door, Mosa is 5+ star. Fantastic food and great service. The close proximity to the airport never bothered us as it wasn't busy while we were there.
If you want budget friendly and don't mind basic, this place checks all the boxes.
