Casona Plaza Hotel Puno

This was one of the better "charm" hotels we stayed in and it's location was very close to the town square and many restaurants and bars which was also a plus. The breakfast was basic but good, tea was available all hours, and staff were friendly.

Incorrect information given on dinner service resulted in us missing dinner. No willingness for room service for tourists who have traveled all day in devastating altitude.

Well situated for city centre, just by the cathedral square and shopping area, but you may have to walk to it as there is no vehicular drop off outside the hotel. The main floors are reached by a small 4 person (with luggage) lift from reception, however, some rooms are reached by a small flight of steps from the main floors. The rooms are arranged a large central oval space, so guests in the restaurant/ reception level talking loudly can be heard in all rooms. The rooms are large with good storage space, 2 double beds, a safe, TV (Spanish channels only), wonky table and chairs and a large bathroom with a really small bath, but shower was good. However, a lot of sockets were loose in the walls, the lights not being particularly bright, compared to the Lima hotels. Breakfast is taken by reception is mainly a continental style but a few types of hot eggs were available and items were only slowly replaced as they ran out. We ate out in the local area as there are many cafes/restaurants about.

This hotel was pre booked via Exoticca for my trip around Peru.
The Good.
* Right near to the main square, but peaceful.
* Clean room.
The bad.
* Breakfast was very, very limited. Fruit, bread, fried rice?
* Rooms very dated and no outwards facing window.
* Although the bathroom appeared to be clean it smelt fusty.
* Photos of rooms misleading. Rooms very small.

Very well located by the main plaza.
Internet was awful, so dont count on it unless you want to sit in the lobby.
Rooms were large and beds were comfy and warm.
Bathroom — needed new showerhead.
Breakfast — weak coffee, hard boiled eggs and rolls, cereal, fresh juice. Stores do not open before 9 am so no place to buy a good capuccino or latte nearby.
Its a beautiful boutique hotel but there were lots of steps that made it difficult to take the luggage up and down steps.
Staff was helpful.

Large room with older design. The room and bathroom was clean except the grout in the bathtub, which was bad. The window opens and looks into another room. There was no view at all. Location is very good, near to the central plaza Unfortunately, buses are not allowed in. We had to walk about one and half blocks in the rain with our luggage.

Our room was very cosy and we were warm through the night although the heat pump was a little bit noisy. We only had it on before going to bed which was enough. There was road works right next to the hotel which went on all night and was very noisy but not their fault really. I suppose there is always noise in the city centre. Shower was lovely and warm and bed was quite comfortable. Breakfast was nice and the hotel had a nice old times feeling.

Nice hotel located near in the centre of the town, staff was lovely and there was excellent breakfast.

Hotel located in busy narrow corner intersection with street construction. Don't judge its exterior, the interior provides hospitable staff, clean/comfy rooms, there is attached wall AC/fan, but subpar breakfast in lobby. Dinner food was horrible; better to eat out — lots of restaurants along the plaza just steps away.
TV remote does not coincide with channel map menu. TV isn't clear/very staticky. No english channels. Shower runs out of hot water. There is no bathroom exhaust so no place for steam to escape (everything is steamy and wet from condensation).

Nice 3* hotel, located very near to the main squre. They have laundry service, which was very convinient for us.

Rooms are small as stated in other posts. However I do not travel to stay in my room so I didn't find this a problem. It is clean, the beds comfortable, great staff and good breakfast. The hotel is a minute walk from the square where there are many restaurants and shops. A great location. Highly recommend this hotel.
