I love this hotel! I was a bit skeptical at first, when I realized the hotel is literally in the train station, but was so pleasantly surprised. The grounds are beautiful and so peaceful, with lush gardens and stunning views of the mountains. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the restaurant on site is fantastic! Most dishes feature ingredients from the huge organic farm adjacent to the property. The location is ideal for visiting Machu Pichu (the train is right outside your door — great for early departures and/or late arrivals) and also for visiting Ollantaytambo, which can be accessed via the pedestrian road that runs along the farm. I highly recommend staying at El Albergue and hope to return!

We had dinner here for my fiance's birthday during our trip to Peru and it was fabulous. The service was amazing and each dish was more incredible than the next. Highly recommend!

Visited Feb. 2018. Hotel rooms and grounds were great — super gardens and comfortable rooms. Restaurant was also good. The farm and distillery operated by the hotel was worth a short visit.

The attention since you enter is first, the staff who work are very friendly, the hotel very clean and tidy, each room has its charm, all the first accessories and always thinking about the conservation of the environment.
It has a spectacular ecological sauna… it works with firewood and hot stones.
Living this experience is wonderful.
I recommend it.

El Albergue is a tranquil piece of heaven nestled just off the train platform in Ollantaytambo. Its gardens, rooms, restaurant and organic farm provide a peaceful retreat for your trip to or from Machu Picchu. The rooms are perfect, with comfortable beds, warm blankets, fresh fruit, bottled water, and the best showers (hot water with great water pressure) I experienced while in Perú. There is Wi-Fi available on the property, as well. The staff is friendly and helpful. They are able to help book taxis, guides, and tours of the surrounding areas. It is a great jumping off point for visiting many of the sites in the Sacred Valley (the ruins of the Ollantaytambo Fortress are just a short walk from the hotel) or just relaxing and taking in the beauty of the Ollantaytambo area. Be sure to ask about the eucalyptus wood fired sauna (it's complimentary and can be booked through the front desk). It's a great way to relax your tired muscles after a long day of exploring the valley. The Albergue also encompasses an organic farm (which provides food for their restaurant operations), a distillery (be sure to try the Caña Alta), and a coffee roastery. The staff is happy to set you up with a tour, worth spending an hour or two checking it out. Be sure to book a traditional Pachamanca lunch on the farm for full experience (the lunch must be booked a day in advance). You won't be disappointed inn the food or the experience.

The best food from Ollantaytambo and surroundings … and happy hour is the ultimate, with Cane Alta de Andina Distillery the drinks are spectacular!

Great accommodations with very friendly staff. Food and drinks were excellent. Organic garden in back with direct access to Inca trail and local ruins.

Go to spot for working (free Wi-Fi! ) while living in Ollanta. The happy hour piso sours are half price and the best I tried locally. Fine dining fresh ingredients and a cool setting right on the Peru rail platform. In the morning it's nice to pop in for a coffee while exploring the paths through farmland.

I truly hope the that the guy who would stop in around dinner time still plays acoustic guitar in the corner. It was haunting and perfectly fit.

This is the best place we have eaten in 3 weeks of Peru travel. Amazing value for the money. Attentive service. Lunch menu includes the sirloin sandwich is all under 20 soles. Large portion of delicious lamb for 49. Best coffee I've had in the country. Aguaymanto cheesecake and rice pudding for dessert. Seriously, you should eat here. We'll be making a special trip back in the next few days to try more.

The bare essentials. It's a place to stay, nice and clean. Just don't expect too many amenities.

This was my favorite hotel during our trip. Very simple but just what we were looking for towards the end of our trip. Great restaurant attached.

Magical: This is a stunningly beautiful place; inside and out. Throw out all you know about garden rooms or lush surroundings, even if you've been to Hawaii, this place is a serious Sacred Valley garden hotel. Think quaint-train-junction-hotel meets Peruvian lush Yosemite. We (two couples) used the El Albergue Hotel as our Machu Picchu launching point. The early morning Peru Rail train trip to Machu Picchu from Ollantaytambo is great way take take in the river views leading up to Machu Picchu, the town, previously known as Agua Caleinte. Our guide, arranged by the hotel, met us at the train depot in Machu Picchu. He was marvelous. We climbed Huayna Picchu; not for the faint of heart, but a great time was had by all who made the 1 plus hour treck up. To climb Huayna Picchu you need to arrange your own tickets inclusive of the Huayna Picchu treck before you arrive. You also need your passport to get in to the Machu Picchu sancturary. You will want to give yourself a day to hike into Ollantaytambo from the El Albergue. FYI: Yes, the Hotel food and drinks are great. The El Albergue also arranged our travel (for a fee) to and from Cusco.

Ate at the restaurant. Haven't stayed at the hotel. Delicious meal. All of their food was very good. They had a tasty Peruvian red wine. The appetizer w/three types of potatoes (can't remember the exact name) and the alpaca steak were excellent. Highly recommend this place.

Great food here after coming back from machu picchu. The alpaca burger and pasta dishes were great.
