Situated in a beautiful small village of San Pablo only a 15 min motor taxi up the newly completed paved road. Very quiet in terms of tourists, but with all you need. A couple shops to buy water, fruit and provisions, a couple very tasty reasonably priced places to eat and a wonderful tourist information centre with lots of information about the Gocta/ waterfall, trails for hiking and biodiversity. The Gocta waterfall is not in view, but many others are! Right from the bedroom window. As for the walk to Gocta from the accomodation — nearby, and along the upper side of the mountain, allowing you many beautiful Miradors all the way through. Perhaps better that the valley walk from Cocachimba? You can also walk right the way to Cocachimba if desired :) Do visit the Caña Suger cane finca/ chakra not long after starting on the trail. There a elderly man and women work very hard in their rural life to produce cane juice (we tried the fermented type) and just get by. Leave some soles if you can :)
Buses pass by Cocahauyco for your onwards journey and visiting the women in the local shops, will secure your place.
We liked that the room had a view. And how comfortable the bed was as well as the hot shower. We would recommend bringing ear plugs for sleeping, as the village has many dogs and they can be disturbing during the night. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. Serving a delicious eggs breakfast with either juice or fruit salad.
