Hostel Mamallena Hostel

Stayed at Hostel Mamallena back in 2017. Was amazing and friendly. Brandon and fam are the best!

Stayed in Mamallena Backpackers many times and the hostel is great! Great vibes good stuff perfect location and excellent price ;) bathrooms always clean, areas are clean! Thanks guys you doing great job! Recommended.

Very nice place, pet friendly and the staff makes you feel at home.

I made a reservation for 5 nights, but one night was enough for me. The neighborhood is really dodgy. Somewhere I would not walk at night. It was really sorry and noisy. Trash everywhere. After a long day of motorcycke travel I arrived and asked to park inside the gate, but there was a vehicle blocking the way. The girl at the counter said she didn't know who's vehicle it was, nor did she seen to care. I wasn't going to leave my bike on the street in this neighborhood even during the day. So I stood there ar the counter, sweating while she went back to her computer surfing. I asked her if she was going to find out who's vehicle it belongs to and she seemed really bothered that she had to do something other than Facebook. 10 minutes later the vehicle was moved. This place claims to be one of the oldest hostels in Panama and it shows. Everything is worn down, and dirty. Rooms have one or two outlets. Beds and linen are stained. Everything needs painting and updating. If you're on a super tight budget, then maybe this place is okay, but I found something 10x better for just a few dollars more.

Nice place to stay, good facilities thought it falls short on some aspects which are to be aware. Its not that walkable to places, the "included breakfast" is more like "bake your own pankakes", pretty tasty. Where it falls lowest is in that the shower is a little trickle of cold water (which is not that bad when outside is 34°C, dont know in winter) and that the A/C works only from 9:30 pm to 9 am (which paradoxically is the least hottest hours of the day). Its pretty clean, got a unexpensive washing machine and nice areas. A bit expensive for what you get.

Nice place to enjoy the city, however some places near the hostel look not nice.

Place sooo Ameno, the people in charge are very friendly. There are spaces to share, play, Cook. Very well groomed, quiet.

Wonderful staff that are super helpful. Good location to access the city and explore. Very clean, good free coffee every day. Have a travel agency onsite who can assist with your plans.

This place is awesome! The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable about the whole central / south America trail. We arrived a 2 am off the bus and just went there hoping they would have space and they were really gracious & laid-back about the whole experience and even pointed us towards some really cheap flights to Colombia which saved us days of our trip! Would highly recommend this place to anyone coming through Panama City for sure!

Definitely stay here while in Panama city! The staff is absolutely amazing and you won't leave without them becoming your friends. Great kitchen, very clean hostel and excellent mattresses. There are lots of things to do and there's a great vibe in the hostel. Couches, TV room, garden and a dog :D Love Mamallena!

The area was not very interesting. The cleanliness was pretty good. The outside courtyard was a little bit faded. However, people are very welcoming, the place offers everything you might need.

Excellent experience. The staff are welcoming and create a very laid back vibe while still keeping a very clean and organized space. Great hang out areas, perfect location, lots to do and tons of information for onward travel. Plus pancakes and coffee and tea, what more could you ask for?!
