Oriental Hotel Islamabad

I had a mixed experience at the Oriental Hotel Islamabad. On the positive side, the staff is incredibly cooperative, polite, and helpful, and the overall service is good. However, there is a major issue with the room layout. My room had a large glass window with no tint, and the curtains were too small to fully cover it. As a result, the sun streams right into the room around 5:30 AM, making the entire room incredibly bright and impossible to sleep in. The hotel really needs to fix this by installing proper blackout curtains or window tinting. Other than this sleep disturbance, everything else about the stay was good. "

I stayed for one night with my family of four, including a toddler. Overall, the experience was mixed, with some positive aspects and some areas that need improvement.
The strongest point of the hotel was the staff. They were very cooperative, respectful, and helpful throughout our stay. They allowed us an extra 20 minutes for checkout and even prepared breakfast for us after the regular breakfast time had ended. They also tried their best to make our stay comfortable. When we had issues with our room, they changed it for us, which I appreciated.
However, there were also some problems. The air conditioning in the room we initially booked was not working properly. Although the staff moved us to another room with better air conditioning, this issue should have been checked before assigning the room to guests.
The hotel also needs improvement in cleanliness and maintenance. The elevator had an unpleasant smell, and the carpet was in poor condition. During my stay on June 4, it rained heavily, and the windows in my room started leaking, which was very surprising and disappointing.
Another point to mention is that the hotel seems to be mainly designed for Chinese guests, so Pakistani local families may feel that the overall experience is slightly different from what they usually expect.
Overall, the staff was very cooperative and tried their best, but the hotel needs serious improvement in maintenance, cleanliness, and room readiness.
