Me and my grandma has been in Stor Elvdal Hotel many times, and for each time we we would like to come back. It is a small hotel with 11 rooms, and friendly staff and cozy environment. The rooms are good, a little outdated but they are improving very fast. The bed is better than mine and the best bed I have ever slept in. The floor in the bathroom is heated, but the shower was a little outdated.
But, they are improving. And there is a mini bar for everyone down the corridor, which is nice. The breakfast room is small, but has everything you need. From bread to bacon and eggs it has everything in need. They have also a lot of drinks. For example coffe and juice. The restaurant is really good, but there is not that much in the meny. But the food quality is at the top. You can have a classic Norwegian lunch, like waffles to salmon. The food is great but it can be a little expensive. But I think it is worth the money. Overall we had a great stay and you should come visit this place.
If travelling through Østerdalen, Stor-Elvdal Hotel is well worth a night or two. The atmosphere and Norwegian culture they offer and present is absolutely unique. Their museum, showcasing artifacts from norwegian history and then especially items from when our country was founded, offers something nobody else does.
Thel restaurant also offers a Norwegian cusine that impressed me a lot. Add all of the above up with a extremely charming staff and an owner who is an engaged drive force and excellent speaker — you get a once in a life time experience. Highly recommend!

Called the hotel about 2230 and asked for a room the same night, and the staff arranged for us to pick up a key an hour later even though the reception was closed.
Big, nice room, comfortable bed, dated but clean and warm bathroom. Breakfast was really good.
