Basecamp Narvik

Unfortunately fell far short of our expectations. Yes, we visited during the off-season, but that shouldn’t mean basic hospitality goes into hibernation.
I would recommend arriving during daylight because the parking setup is kind of confusing in the dark.
The room itself was quite unusual. Other reviews describing minimalist furnishings perhaps don’t go far enough. In terms of amenities, there was a towel, dish soap and hand soap… and that’s literally it. So do be prepared with body wash, shampoo etc if you’re going to stay here.
The hotel’s design is a mix of hygge and alpine charm which felt cheap and uninviting. Yes, the view was good, but our room was dimly lit to the point of gloom. Which at least helped obscure the less-than-stellar cleanliness. Every interaction with the furniture, particularly the bed, sent up a plume of dust, which made us think it might not have been cleaned since the end of the last ski season.
The bathroom required a degree in human Tetris to sit on the toilet, only to have your knees smack into the shower door because there’s barely any clearance. There’s also no shelf in the shower so your BYO shampoo and body wash has to sit on the ground, which isn’t super ergonomic.
One also wonders about the fire extinguisher just kind of leaned against the wall in the entryway. We would’ve thought it would be regulation to have it wall mounted with appropriate signage.
The room’s AC system was also quite curious.

We stayed for only 1 night, but the check-in was quick with no complications, and the doors only required a code, so there is no worry of losing your key. The views were great over the sea and city. The bathroom was good. There was also no noise to complain about.

We stayed in a studio apartment for 2 nights. This place was exactly as it appears on the website, modern, clean and well equipped with plenty of storage. Plenty of hot water, good towels, comfortable bed and the best views in town. The views over the town and fjord are spectacular and can be enjoyed from sitting in bed or having a drink on the balcony. There’s also a bar in reception and a small roof garden on the top floor. The hotel is a quick walk to the cable car up the mountain and within a 10 minute drive to supermarkets for self-catering. There’s a good sized fridge with a freezer for food and drinks and good cooking equipment. Highly recommended.

Nice new rooms with an pretty view of the city centre. Right next to the slopes so perfect for the skiing season.
Everything was clean. There is a way to connect to the TV via Wi-Fi and watch with phone apps. But we only got it working for 1 episode on prime. Youtube docs it is!
Start Juli 2024 — Their still building the parkinglot out front. So if you want to sleep past 7:30 on a weekday. Go somewhere else…

Amazing view on Narvik Fjord and city. Appartment is clean and every thing you need to cook something simple. Warm welcome even if you can enter only with pin code. Lounge is nice and warm. Also a roof top to have your drink or have some sun bathing. Quiet place.
