Dolmsundet Hotell Hitra in Q&A

Information is provided based on reviews and may contain inaccuracies.

Where is Dolmsundet Hotell Hitra located and what is nearby?

The hotel is located in a quiet area on Hitra Island, past the Fillan shopping center on the way to Frøya. Guests highlight the beautiful views of the sea and the surrounding landscape. In the immediate vicinity of the Hopsjø annex, there is an old trading post, the Hopsjøbrygga pier, an old shop, a whaling museum, the Landstrykeren restaurant, and a canning museum. Additionally, a grocery store and cultural walking trails are within walking distance.

Are there electric vehicle charging stations in the parking lot?

Yes, the hotel provides EV charging stations for guests to use. This has been mentioned in several reviews as a convenient and useful option.

How polite is the staff and how is the service?

Reviews regarding the staff are mixed. Many guests praise the employees for their friendliness, hospitality, and assistance in selecting local attractions; a kind and attentive staff member during breakfast is specifically highlighted. Conversely, some visitors encountered unemotional service in the restaurant and a lack of friendliness from the housekeeping staff. There was also a recorded instance of highly inappropriate communication from a staff member toward a guest following a vegan diet.

What breakfast and dining options are offered at the hotel?

The hotel offers a buffet breakfast, which many find high-quality and varied. The restaurant serves dishes such as fish & chips, entrecote, and chili con carne; a buffet featuring venison, chicken, fish, pasta, and desserts is also available. However, some guests were dissatisfied with the food quality during the winter period and the lack of a full vegan breakfast menu. There is an option to order simple food (sandwiches) to the room late at night.

Do the rooms match the photos and what is their condition?

Guest opinions on the condition of the rooms vary. Some describe them as clean, spacious, and comfortable, with new bathrooms and comfortable beds. Others claim that the reality does not match the photos, reporting worn interiors, broken veranda doors, and damaged windows in the apartments. There were also complaints regarding the presence of insects (silverfish and ants) in the rooms, the kitchen, and the reception area.

What is the standard of cleanliness and hygiene in the rooms?

The situation regarding cleaning is inconsistent. Some guests are satisfied with the cleanliness and order of the rooms. At the same time, there are serious complaints about the presence of black mold, poor ventilation, and insects (ants and silverfish). One guest noted the low quality of cleaning during the winter period, stating that bed linens were changed only once a week, and they discovered foreign hair on the bed.

What ventilation and air conditioning system is used in the rooms?

The hotel does not have air conditioning, which can make the rooms quite hot during the summer period. Guests recommend visiting the hotel during cooler seasons. However, in some rooms, the windows can be opened, allowing the space to be aired out with fresh air.

What additional amenities and services does the hotel offer?

A small gym with basic equipment is available for guests. Certain accommodation options, such as the cottages, provide additional amenities: a jacuzzi, a grill, and gas stoves. The hotel is also suitable for hosting celebratory events; specifically, guests highly praised the organization of a wedding celebration.

Is the hotel suitable for a family vacation?

Yes, the hotel is described as family-friendly. Guests note that the spacious cottages and the general cozy atmosphere are excellent for family trips, providing a comfortable stay both indoors and outdoors.

I want to give special recognition to the lady from Ukraine who works at the breakfast buffet. She is always smiling, very kind, and incredibly accommodating. Every morning she makes the atmosphere feel welcoming. She is so helpful and attentive, and you can really see that she enjoys her work. Staff like her make a big difference in the guest experience. Thank you for the wonderful service.

Room was clean and comfortable, bathroom with shower and bathtub, a small gym with basic equipment.
Only downside is the lack of AC, it gets quite hot in summer. Best suited for cooler seasons.
