The Austrian Cuisine is definitely the best in the world, especially at this lovely place! Authentic meals with best local organic ingrediences, looked after by a wonderful staff, run by the awesome Austrian couple Renate and Heimo.
I highly recommend the place to everybody and I‘ll return as soon as possible!

Amazing food (the Wagyu beef schnitzel with beef jus, seasonal Bluff oysters with malt vinegar and Austrian apple strudel are highly recommended) with great service. Doggie friendly as my dog was allowed to dine with me in the beer garden outdoors where I was greeted by fantails and enjoyed a peaceful atmosphere of birds singing. Will definitely be back. Thank you, Heimo and Renate for an amazing experience.

Very friendly and well trained staff. Dinner was fabulous, portion size excellent, was able to have 3 courses and not feel bloated. Liked that the menu detailed where the produce was sourced. We stayed the night. The rooms were equal to larger hotels — but with much more room. Breakfast was included in the room rate (which was reasonable), once again a beautiful meal in very relaxed surroundings. Will be going back for sure.

One of the best places we have ever been in New Zealand. Really hard to choose from the menu, everything looks very tempting. Very nice atmosphere, delicious food and beautiful souls. Renate and Heimo as well as their staff really look after you. We will definitely be back!

After booking the house to the Prophet day of the whole area power failure, homeowners and couples see me driving to the door to take the initiative out detailed account still say sorry! The accident who wants to, finally knew they exhausted method to inform me! Unfortunately, I was outside, no phone and did not look at the email), the wife said enthusiastically to help find other hotels, finally their own stir, hope that the next opportunity to live here, because the environment is too beautiful, driving away really feel pity!

Fabulous. Just fabulous. Attentive, friendly staff and very generous portions of lovely food. A perfect meal out in the country.

We had an amazing Xmas day there and lovely people and awesome service.

We have called in a couple of times after an afternoon driving round the coast with friends. The team is friendly and professional and the owner is a credit to the hotel. She is attentive without being overbearing, she has a great sense of humor and both times has shown her appreciation for choosing her place to stop. Great food. Value for money. Will certainly stop there again!

Fantastic food, we had schnitzel, fish and chips all amazing. Make sure you save room for dessert.

Just had 3 fantastic nights at this hotel. Warm friendly atmosphere. Very comfortable rooms and top class meals. Great live music night on Wednesdays with Austrian theme. A breath of fresh country air. Loved it!

Professional Master Chefs Eat Your Hearts Out, 5* Accomodation, 5* service and to top it off 5* Food. We stayed recently celebrating our wedding anniversary, it was one of our best experiences ever. From the time you walk in until you leave you are made to feel like one of the family, you are greeted with such warmth and sincerity it takes your breath away. It's warm, it's cosy and so very clean and comfortable. The restaurant food is superb and just a taste bud sensation, each course is made with such love such passion and this shows on the plate. Each dish was prepared with the ingredients that work together so well it takes you on a journey of absolute food pleasure. And to top it off they make a mean coffee. All I can say is that this establishment is a culinary delight and I can't wait to go back again and just keep working my way through this amazing menu.

Absolutely wonderful restaurant with very friendly staff, phenomenal German food and amazing ambience. I regret giving out five stars on other reviews because very few restaurants reach this standard of complete perfection.

Renate and Hemio are the best hosts ever. Not just hosts, they make you feel special and part of there stony family. The food is awesome, But the desserts are some of the best I've tasted, anywhere in the world. Thanks to the best hosts in the Naki.

I was the lucky winner of the More Fm prize for a night away that included dinner and breakfast. What an amazing experience from start to finish. On arrival we were greeted by the friendliest owners I have ever met. Our room was beautiful and stylish and the bed was super comfortable. Every staff member we met were very friendly and helpful. Our dining experience was lovely and our food was delicious. Not a bad thing to be said about this place and I would highly recommend!

This review is for the restaurant. Consistently good dinner service at great value and super friendly hosts. If you can fit in a full three courses you're doing very well. My parents have used the accommodation and rated it highly.

The Bergsteiger schnitzel, an Austrian “mountaineer schnitzel” is fabulous. Heimo and Renate Staudinger, who brought new life to this historic hotel in 2013 are wonderful hosts. Heimo, who was head chef at the Stratford Mountain House, and Renate provide a mix of Austrian and kiwi cuisine. If you’re after a fun night out in a superb setting I highly recommend these guys.
