Deborah, one of the staff in Melbourne Lodge has offered us great service during our stay in Melbourne Lodge. The warmth of her genuine service is enough reason for us to return to this place next time we visit Queenstown The room is simple yet clean and the bed is very comfortable. A nice place to rest after a hectic yet happy day in QT!

I liked it here, it was relaxing for me during my stay.

I haven’t stayed there yet, but already very impressed. Made a booking through a booking agent for late April and had a query with inability to logging into said booking agent, I was getting little response and much concern so I contacted Melbourne Lodge direct and almost immediately they replied putting my concerns to rest, am so looking forward to my stay!

Overpriced! Dated and tired. Not particularly clean. Hear every noise from adjoining rooms.

I recommend coming here for a cheap stay and relatively nice room. I was out most of the time but it served the purpose of properly providing comfortable beds, tv, heating and air and nice shower. Staff were nice. Breakfast wasn’t the greatest.

Comfortable accommodation. Bed very comfrey. Quite location close to center. We walked everywhere with ease. Nice breakfast.

I wanted an inexpensive room for a layover after a very long series of flights — — something nicer than a hostel with a front desk, locking doors, and my own sink. Location is an easy but steep uphill walk from downtown. Lovely views. Big common room for guests with makings for tea in the like, and a shared fridge for munchies. Friendly staff, room was exactly what I wanted. Thanks to the Air New Zealand schedule, I arrived by 10 A. M. ; front desk staff there were completely unfazed by my early arrival and had me plugged in by 11. Great value in Queentown. Shared showers were deserted, hot, and clean. Room was warm in the middle of the winter. Star volunteered to take me to the bus stop with my heavy bags.

Really good B&B for a reasonable price during off-season! We just booked 1 night in a double room with shared bathroom and we really enjoyed our stay. We had to check out in the middle of the night to go hiking and the receptionist gave us some breakfast snacks to-go, thx guys. Much appreciated — we'll come back! :)

Awesome place with bread & breakfast. Spectacular view of snow clad mountains & complete english breakfast spread.

The best shower I've ever had. Life changing moment for me. My vocabulary doesn't extend far enough to describe the shower. Room 28 if that makes a difference. The bed is super comfy. The area is dead quiet. The outside garden is lovely. Breakfast was good. Staff are nice. The only issue is the damp carpet in the room by the fridge that greets you with a rather unpleasant smell. I got used to it quick enough and everything else was above average so I can let that one slide. If I'm ever back in Queenstown (and I hope I am), I'll be back in this hotel price permitting!

No problems, but this isn't anything special. It's an inexpensive option in an expensive town. The walk into downtown is only about 5-7 min but is straight downhill/uphill. Parking is minimal so once you get a spot, try to keep it. There is additional parking in the back too.

The bathroom was dirty and showed traces from the previous residents (sink, shower and even toilet bowl! ) — that’s just disgusting and unacceptable for a hotel. They don’t really provide daily room service, and if you ask for it, you get a stupid commentary. If you ask me it’s totally overpriced. I won’t recommend it. The good thing is, they have free unlimited Wi-Fi and the location and the view are not too bad.

I had the luxury of staying here for about two weeks while in Queenstown. Some rooms may be smaller, but who goes to Queenstown to stay in the room? Accommodations were clean, tidy, and humble. The staff was very quick to help anyone from out of town and would oblige any special needs if necessary. The price point was excellent considering the price of others nearby in a relatively expensive town. I highly recommend this establishment.

Nice staff, decent size room. Breakfast was simple but well done. Bathrooms could use an update, but considering the price point I found it adequate. Shower head was like a high pressure washer though. Overall a lovely stay. (Change your shower heads! )

This B&B consists of the original house with older rooms and a building added in the back with newer and more comfortable rooms (also more expensive). The first night we spent it in a room of the oldest part, with shared bathroom. The second was spent in a room of the most modern part, much better than the first but also much more expensive. The B&B is cozy and comfortable, everything was very clean. I would highlight the breakfast, quite variety and quality products. The Wi-Fi network worked very well.
As negative points, I would point out that there are few parking spaces and on the street it can be a little difficult to park in high season. The quality/price ratio for the rooms with shared bathroom is good but the price of the private bathroom I found very high. The friendliness of a part of the staff left a little to be desired.

We really enjoyed our stay here. Staff were super nice and breakfast buffet with nice view were simple but amazing. Definitely recommended for a great price and good alternative over a hostel. Our room was a little cramped but it seemed that other rooms were more spacious.

Good bed and rooms, a decent view of the lake from the common room and breakfast was always well done, lots of freedom coming in and out, and only a 5min walk from the centre of town.

A quaint little B&B with super friendly staff, smallish rooms, and a great breakfast with a view of the Remarkables to die for. Just a short walk from downtown and up a good hill to burn some calories on.

What a wonderful place. Staff are SO helpful. Everything you need is conveniently available. Even Charlie, the house cat, is friendly and affectionate. Breakfast is outstanding, with fresh fruit, yoghurt, and gluten-free options. Overall, this place is comfortable, affordable, and friendly. Why stay anywhere else?

Nice room, but the view is just soso.

I highly recommend the Melbourne Lodge Bed & Breakfast. The staff were very welcoming & helpful. I was very surprised with the high standard of accommodation, our room feeling more like a five star hotel. Having breakfast each morning overlooking the mountains surrounding Queenstown was an amazing experience.

Loved my time here. Room was cute and tiny, with a basin and all I really needed. Lovely shared by private showers and toilets. Breakfast was fabulous with heaps of choice, including non-dairy milk. Location was handy to downtown, but be aware that the walk includes a steep hill, like I guess most locations in Queenstown do!

Nice location to the city, has a great hot tub, staff were friendly, bed was comfy. Showers almost too hot and fan in bathroom very noisy. Didn't try the complimentary breakfast but seemed basic but is included so no stress.

Fabulous staff in a bed and breakfast. Shared bathrooms if you want a cheaper option but also units available. Not far from town. Great lounge room Great staff wow.

Cozy, peaceful and near downtown. Great place if you just want to hang around Queenstown area for a while. Near downtown so bars and restaurants are walking distance.

I never write reviews but felt I had too this time I travelled to Queenstown on my own for 7 days (first time I've travelled on my own) Melbourne Lodge B&B was great. It was warm, friendly and most importantly I felt safe at all times. I had a budget single room with shared bathroom, it was big enough for just me and had a comfy bed with an electric blanket the room was serviced everyday with fresh towels (wasn't expecting that) and the showers was always available and clean. The continental breakfast was yum and the staff so welcoming. When I asked where to leave my key in the morning as was being picked up at 5.45am they went in to the kitchen and got me a muffin and fruit to take for breakfast
I would highly recommend this place, I could say so much more. Oh and great communal lounge and Wifi

5 days in out of 14 — no complaints very nice, clean friendly. Will give a proper review b4, I leave but so far so good and Benji the little rascal likes my slippers that much he tries to steal them!
I will now finish my review. Fir me it was def 5* on review. ALL staff have been helpful and welcoming. I have been here for 2 wks and not one issue, my room was a big double room all to myself a shared bathroom but basically only 2 of us had the bathroom due to situation of my room. The room was serviced daily and fresh towels, soap shampoo and conditioner free Wi-Fi and sky TV. Although it's coming into winter my room was never cold, large fluffy dressing gowns were also provided. Everywhere was clean, continental breakfast no probs there a good assortment of cereals fruit ham cheese fruit salad muffins toast fruit juice and best of all croissants! Yummy. My daughter Bethany Littlemore who lives up the hill behind the lodge was also made welcome at all times. And not forgetting benji the now resident slipper knicker! I've left them for him as a parting gift! Lol as he stole them again off my feet at breakfast again. If I am lucky enough to come back to queenstown I would certainly without a doubt stay here. Thank you all again for making my stay very homely and welcoming xx.

Within walking distance to the main CBD area. You do have to walk up a rather steep slope to get there, but Queenstown is hilly in general, and most accomodation that are not right smack in the center of town would require some kind of hill-walking. Room was clean and decently sized. They had a DVD player, so we finished re-watching the first 2 episodes of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Breakfast was decent, with ham, cheese, croissants, some (canned, I think) fruits, milk and yogurt. They had a hot-tub offer, so it was free. But as it is just beside the main staircase to the rooms, it provided rather little privacy, and everyone walking to the lobby from their rooms can say hi to you.

The staff was lovely and very accommodating when we needed to have our luggage stored. It's well located and served a nice breakfast.

Helpful and friendly staff that helped us book our excursions. There was a very cute little dog that was there during the day. Nice place to stay but on the top of a steep hill. Free unlimited Wi-Fi.

This place is a fab find! Positioned on a hill overlooking the lake! We got here in the dark and went up to the top floor to the most gorgeous apartment! but it wasn't until the morning we looked out to the best view in town! The mountains and lake! & last night one of the best sunset sky I've ever seen! you can sit on the balcony and see every view!
Breakfast is great too & the happy smiles of the girls serving!

This is a very comfortable place to stay in Queenstown, especially with the bed-and-breakfast format, so close to the centre of town. The guest lounge has great views of the lake and is relaxed and comfortable. Rooms have recently been refurbished, with many offering stunning mountain/lake views. It's under new management now, so a little harder to make direct contact but worth the effort if you can talk directly to the owner/managers. Queenstown is a great place to visit. Put it on your bucket list!

A few major things that are wrong with this place: 1. Noone at the reception after 8PM and no way to get in touch with anyone after that time. There is a phone number left to call in case of emergency but no one answers the phone and the voicemail suggests to send an email. The phone itself they have downstairs is barely working. It takes a few tries to get the beep going. Maybe someone was stressed out trying to get in touch with the staff and broke it? 2. No air conditioning in the room and you can't even open the windows since there are no window screens to prevent insects from coming in 3. They charge $20 for a hot tub?! 4. The laundry is also an additional charge — $10. You are lucky if you can sneak it in since it opens at noon and tends to be busy with the hotel staff washing their towels.

Guy at the front desk was new and booked me on the wrong night last night. Decided to book another night for my parents and not myself but the front desk closed at 8pm and my parents didn't get to town until 10pm and there was nobody to assist. They have NOBODY to help at night. Hard to even call it night since it doesn't get dark til 10pm. Anyhow, you could have a fire and nobody would be there. There is no way to reach anybody in case of emergency. They give you a number to call in case of emergency, which they don't answer. Instead, they give you an email address to contact which they don't respond to. Stayed in the best room (Room 42) and the air conditioning didn't work. All in all, just ruined a solid day and a half of my trip. There are much better places at lower rates and you don't have to walk up a steep hill back from the town.

This place was amazing. Apparently it's under new management, which is obviously a good thing judging by the past reviews. We have stayed on 2 separate occasions now and both have been great. Nice clean modern rooms (the lady — owner? tells me they have recently all been redone) and the location is amazing. It's a hill but its honestly about a 3 minute walk to the centre of town which was great, means you can relax a little knowing you can come and go as you please without a car or cab fare. The views are beautiful and our room had a lovely little deck which we could sit out on as well as the breakfast/lounge area that had a huge balcony. These new guys are doing a great job and we will definately be back.

New owners, newly refurbished, warm, welcoming and very reasonable. Best location, so close to town and transport for skiing and adventure. Complimentary breakfast which was great with cereal, fruit, tea and toast. Staff very helpful and great local knowledge. We were a group of 6 and everyone was happy, we will stay again next winter.
